12:00pm-1:45pm Learn about welding and practice Welding is very
difficult and takes a
steady hand. It is also
Commentary: very dangerous and
requires much
Today I learned about the welder. I got attention for my
the hood scoop but the hole in the hood safety.
was too big. So I needed to weld metal
around the edges so the scoop can fit. I
learned about the safety today and
practiced a little.

and made me very
nervous because I
Commentary: didn’t want to mess

5:00pm-6:30pm Very Very Tiring!!!!
Next time take breaks.
Commentary:
Today I sand down the weld to make it
smooth. Since I am sanding the weld it
requires a really tough grid of sand
paper. I use the sand grinder to help
speed up the process.

October 22,2011 Bondo cracks and dips Mixing the bondo was
2:00pm-3:00pm fun.
I will have to use the
Commentary: bondo more than once
just like sanding.
After the weld is smooth I go around it Doing a hood requires
with some bondo. Bondo is body filler. lots of sanding.
I also go all over the hood where there
are dents or cracks. After I finish I must
let it air dry for a few days.

February 4 ,2011 Wet sand then primer
1:00pm-3:00pm Everything was going
too good.
A problem was bound
Commentary: to happen.
Today I spray primer and wet sand
because it’s warmer now. I use a low
grid. I squirt water on the hood and
hood scoop then sand. This is the final
step of sanding. I place the scoop in the
hood but found a problem. It doesn’t
sit even on the hood.

1:00pm-3:30pm Fix the hood scoop to fit the hood The longest process
ever, but had to be
done so it would fit
Commentary: perfect.
To make the scoop sit level on the
hood I had to use body filler to add to
the edges. By adding the bondo a little
at a time it makes it thinker therefore
sitting on the hood perfectly without
any gaps.

sanding.
Commentary:
From the bondo on the edges I had
resand the scoop. Then wet sand it
again. After I finish I do one more coat
of primer on the hood and scoop. Then
drilled holes for the scoop to be bolted
on the hood.

12:00pm-1:00pm Research for paint Boy am I lucky I have
my dad to save my
project.
Commentary:
Today I searched for colors to paint the
hood, but found out I can’t paint unless
it’s 70 degrees or hotter. In march it’s
not quiet hot enough and don’t have
time to wait till hotter weather. My dad
gave me the idea to wrap it. It’s one big
design that covers the hood and scoop
that sticks on like a sticker.
