Question 4
1. QUESTION.4
How did you use media technologies in the construction and research,
planning and evaluation stages?
2. Canon DSLR 650D
•
As a whole we as a group developed skills such as being able to use different settings on the Canon
EOS 650D. For example we have switched our camera to night mode in order to take scenes when
we filmed later during the day of filming. This has helped our video clips of the night scenes look
much clearer. With editing we have developed skills like removing the actual sound of the scene and
replacing it with a song.
•
We have learnt how to use the tripod as in it up and putting it into the length we want. This has
helped us get better video stability
•
Individually as I was the camera woman, I have learnt developed my filming skills. These include
filming from different angles such as filming from low and high angles. I have also learnt that
zooming on the canon 650D isn’t as easy as I thought it would be and that I had to take extra care
when trying to zoom into the character. After a few practices I got the hang of being able to zoom a
bit more effectively by zooming slowly and steadily.
3. Final Cut Pro
•
We as a group have also developed our cutting in sync to the music. This is where
our cutting rate goes in the beat of the song. This is a great technique which
stands out from our film. It was pretty difficult finding a track which suits best or
our short film. In order to find some, we tried using the Apple computers own
tracks. However, after not being able to find an appropriate track, we went on
different such as YouTube. This has helped us choose from a wider range of tracks.
We have used Final Cut Pro also on the Apple computers in the editing suite.
•
This has allowed us to gain basic skills such as cutting and adding music in. As we
gained experience, we became better at editing hence why we used the cutting
the scenes in sync to the beat
4. Spiderscribe
•
When we were planning on ideas as to what our short film would be about, we all
used spiderscribe as it is easy to take notes on as its quick and efficient. You can
also add images on spiderscribe which is helpful when you want to show example
images. As its in the form of a spider diagram, it allows you to create your own
categories for topics which what we needed exactly when taking notes for our
ideas.
This is what spidescribe looks
like.
These are some notes we took
when planning on what our
short film will be about and what
it would include
5. YouTube
•
We used YouTube to upload our videos when we recorded our pitch, our feedback
and our short film.
•
This was one of the best technologies we used as its easy to access as it has a
global audience and it was easy to embed onto our blogs.
•
This is also a great way to get our short film known internationally, this way we
would have a wider audience.
6. Prezi
•
Before we presented our ideas to our classroom peers, we prepared presentations
on prezi. This was the best way to present our pitches as it’s very classy .
•
You can add images, embed videos and type anything you want
•
It is also a very pleasant to watch as the slides flow from one to the other
throughout the same page when you click the mouse.
•
This was very helpful as whilst presenting our ideas, we needed a quick and easy
way of showing videos we had picked out.
7. Timetoast
•
In order to keep up with deadlines for our work, I have created a timetoast account
to add in all the dates of deadlines. These include dates of when our case studies
were due, when we had to present our pitch to the class and so on.
•
This website is a great way to add in dates as its easy to update as you go along,
easy to add dates and very quick. This saved time when checking deadlines.
8. Vine
•
While we were editing our film, we made mini trailers through the use of vine. This
was to show progress. We decided to use vine to show progress as it’s an app you
can record things up to 6 seconds. This was important to use as we didn’t want to
drag on about our progress through a longer video or type it so instead we made a
vine which showed bits of our progress
9. InDesign
•
To create our film review, we used InDesign which allows you to design your own
page. This allows you to lay out your page however you like be it by laying it out
using columns, be it using margins to get the columns in line with eachother etc.
This is a professional application which we were privileged enough to use.
10. Photoshop
•
We have used Photo shop to clear spots from our characters face with one of the
variety of tools Photoshop has, the spot remover tool, to make our film poster to
look more professional. This is the perfect programme to remove imperfections. It
also allowed us to add banners and text onto our images which made our film
poster look professionally edited.
11. Blogger
•
To upload my coursework, I have used blogger with my gmail account. This was
the easiest way of uploading every piece of work I had done. I was also connected
with my media group members which allowed all of us to catch up and see what
we had to upload.
•
This been the most effective use of technology. This is because it’s the place all our
work was stored.
