2.
The Day it Ended is a film that is based on this
girl that accidently makes the biggest mistake of
her life. When she posts private pictures up of
her self up on Facebook. These turn of events
then leads too all sort of problems at school. But
the film is set in for a big dark twist.
Whereas the film Murder by Numbers is a film
where two students set out a perfect murder but
end up getting involved in a contest with a
homicide detective.
3.
The social groups of the two films are very
similar. This is because both of the films the
main characters are from middle class. And are/
were popular at school. This reflects that that
they have the same personalities and could
share the same interests.
But the characters have different IQ’s this is
because ‘Murder by Numbers’ both the main
characters are too clever for this age. Where as
the main character in our film generally all the
characters in our opening sequence have an
average IQ.

Murder by Numbers
Similarities: clothing
The similarities of the two movies; The Day it Ended and Murder by Numbers. Are that
although they were made in different decades the actors play roles that are popular
people.
We know that they are popular because of their clothing they are wearing is up to date
fashion. This symbolises that you cant trust anyone. Both of these films have not got a
typical psycho films. This is because typically you would see the main character/s as
shady people that don’t really care about life.
But in both of these psycho thriller films they are similar because on of the way that
they are dresses causal for school. But the clothing is on trend. We did this because we
wanted to give clues to the audience about the dark twist our story still had to offer.
5. The Day it Ended
Murder by Numbers
Similarities: camerawork
Another similarities of these two movies are the camerawork. This is because though
out the film (especially in the class scenes) we use the same sort of camera work. This is
because the camera work we show where the film is set. This is because when both of
these films when setting the scene you can easily see that they are set at school. This
then means that the films are both more likely to appeal to young adults. This is because
they are more likely to understand the film.
Both films also have similar camera work. This is because the camera displays where the
characters are in the social ladder. For The Day it Ended you can see that the girl is
clearly is now a social outcast and is not liked very much because of what she did.
Whereas in Murder by Numbers you can see that the main characters are very popular
but seem too be too big for their boots. This is for the main reason that they know they
can out smart the majority of people.
6. The Day it Ended
Murder by Numbers
Differences : mise-en-scene
Another differences of these two movies are mise-en-scene. This is because The Day it Ended is about how her
life is crumbling. So the Mise-en-scene to show this is that she is very depressed. This is shown in her clothing,
hair, make-up, and how she carries her self. Whereas Murder by Numbers you can see that the Mise-en-scene is
different this is because we can tell the characters feelings towards their faces. This is because their faces display
that they are happy with them self and that they are rather smug. Although both feelings that the Mise-en-scene
is displaying in both films are that they both portray that they are starting to slowly turn into typical psychopaths,
but both in different ways.
The Mise-en-scene is very different the majority of the lighting in the films are also different. This is because in
The Day it Ended the lighting is dark. This is because it portrays that the character has something to hide and not
everything is going well. However in Murder by Numbers the majority of the lighting is very light this is because
of what happens in the scenes is in favour of the characters and they get want they want. Although there are
some dark scenes in these films which portrays that the characters shouldn’t be doing what they are fulfilling and
that they might be a little messed up.

Murder by Numbers
Differences : editing
Another differences of these two movies are editing. This is because it The Day it Ended the editing that is done
on this film is that the transitions are slow. We did this because we wanted the audience to feel what is
happening. Although the film Murder by Numbers the transitions that the editor made was that they were fast.
This is because this is a past paced film that nothing good happens though out the film. They used this technique
because it makes the audience feel more tense because they don’t know what could happen next.
Other editing that we did differently is that in The Day it Ended is that we have music playing though out the
whole of our opening sequence. We did this because it can heighten peoples emotions and how they feel towards
the character. Whereas Murder by Numbers only plays music in small sections in some scenes they also did it for
the same reasons as The Day it Ended. But they play different sort of music. This is because each music is suited
more to what is going on in the films. So The Day it Ended music is produced to try to make people feel sad but
also make them think on what is going to happen. Whereas Murder by Numbers edited music in their film
because they wanted to make their audience scared.
