POSSESSIVE PRONOUNS
The Possessive pronouns are:
MINE / YOURS / HIS / HERS / ITS / OURS / YOURS / THEIRS
To understand these pronouns it is important to review the pronouns that we already know.
TABLE 1:
“Subject” PronounsObject PronounsPossessive AdjectivesPossessive PronounsIMemymineYouYouYourYoursHeHimHisHisSheHerHerHersItItItsItsWeUsOurOursYouYouYourYoursTheyThemTheirTheirs
These are the pronouns that we know so far. Remember that the “Subject” and Object pronouns refer to people, places and things (nouns) and the Possessive adjectives and possessive pronouns refer to possessions.
Como vemos estos son todos los pronombres aprendidos hasta la fecha. Les hago recordar que es importante aprenderlos y saber las diferencias que existen entre ellos. Los “Subject” y object pronouns van a tomar el lugar de sustantivos y los possessive adjectives y possessive pronouns se utiliza para expresar posesión. Les recomiendo escuchar bien el audio para despejar dudas.
Por ejemplo:
This is my car.Este es mi auto.
This car is mine.Este auto es mio.
That is her book.Ese es su libro.
That book is hers.Ese libro es suyo (de ella).
Superlative Adjectives
Use of Superlative Adjectives
We use a superlative adjective to describe one thing in a group of three or more things. Look at these examples:
John is 1m75. David is 1m80. Chris is 1m85. Chris is the tallest.
Canada, China and Russia are big countries. But Russia is the biggest.
Mount Everest is the highest mountain in the world.
Superlative adjectives are used to compare at least 3 things or 3 groups of things. When we want to state that something is at the highest or the lowest degree, than we use superlative adjectives. In other words that the superlative adjectives state that something is the most, there can't be anymore or that something is the least, there can't be any less.
I am in the smallest class in the school.
The house at the end of the street is the nicest.
It is common that quot;
thequot;
is used before the superlative adjective.
We live in the biggest house on the block.
My brother is the tallest person in our family.
There are two ways to form compative adjectives, depending on the lenth of the adjective.
Adjectives with 1 syllable or adjectives with 2 syllables if the word ends in -y, then -er is added to the end of the word.
Notes:
HYPERLINK quot;
