1. Task 4: Online Journals
1.Open a web browser.
2.Type wintec.ac.nz/library into the address bar and hit Enter.
3.From the left hand menu click ‘Databases’.
4.Scroll down to the bottom of the list of databases and click ‘ScienceDirect’. A new window will open.
5.Type ‘resistors’ into the All fields search box and ‘New Scientist’ into the journal/book title box.
6.Click Go.
7.Look for the third result: ‘Memristor minds’ and click on the link.
8.Look carefully for the articles doi (digital object identifier). It’s a blue link that begins with doi: just
above the copyright statement.
9.Right-click on the link and choose Copy Shortcut from the contextual menu that appears.
Breathe deeply, we are now going to link to this article from within Moodle:
1.Open a new browser tab or window.
2.From the staff intranet click the Moodle link (or type elearning.wintec.ac.nz) and hit Enter.
3.Choose ‘Teaching Online’ from your ‘My courses’.
4.Click ‘Turn editing on’.
5.In the Task 4 block click in the ‘Add a resource…’ drop-down menu.
6.Choose ‘Link to a file or website’.
7.Give your new resource a name.
8.Click in the location box and select or delete the existing 'http://'.
9.Now paste in the address of the article by choosing Paste from the Page menu (or press Ctrl+V).
10.Scroll to the bottom of the page and click ‘Save and display’.
11.Wipe the sweat from your brow, pat your colleagues on the back and enjoy the fruits of your labour.
