Got psychic powers?

         Yes? Excellent.
Download a book directly into your brain.
No direct download available?

    Skip the headache…
…by downloading a book onto your
                handheld device or tablet.

   The
 psychic
guru will
  guide
  you…

                      Here’s how:
1 – Go to the App Store and search
 for OVERDRIVE MEDIA CONSOLE

                                Got an Android
                                or Blackberry?
                                  Their App
                                 Stores work
                                the same way.
2 – Download Overdrive and install it.
When you first open Overdrive, you
might need to download an e-
  reader if your handheld didn’t
    come equipped with one.

You can get a free e- Free is
                          good…
reader from Adobe.
Tap “Settings” at the bottom of your
 Overdrive screen and authorize the
  Adobe e-reader, using the email
address associated with your device.

                                      2 - Authorize your
                                         device to get
                                       Adobe e-reader
                                      and updates here.

1 - Tap the “Settings” button in
the Overdrive app (not the overall
      settings for your device).
If you already have an e-reader on
your device, it WON’T ask you to
            install one.

So if it doesn’t ask, you’re good.
                       It’s all so
                       thrilling…
When you
first open
Overdrive,
click “Get
Books” in
the upper
   right
  corner.
Search by zip
   code for the
closest libraries.
               A number is
            coming to mind…
           it’s…your zip code.
Overdrive will
show you a list
of libraries that
 are close by.
If you have a public library card, you
can use it to get books from Frisco or
  Plano public libraries. Otherwise,
             choose FISD.
The home page shows what’s new:

                          Tap this menu
                           (looks like 3
                              lines) to
                            search for
                               books.
You can search for things in
       several different ways.
Click “Explore” to search by genre.
If you chose “Sci-Fi and Fantasy”, here’s
what your result screen would look like.
Or, tap the “grade levels” menu choice to
search for recommended titles for your
                 grade.
Just FYI: Frisco ISD middle school
students can check out any book
   rated for middle or elementary
school. You must be in high school
to get books reviewed for HS or
                adults.
If you want books for older readers, you should try the Frisco
Public Library. Don’t have a card? They’re free! It just takes
one trip to the library with your utility bill.

For even more choices, take your FPL card to Plano and get a
card for their system too. Then you’ll be able to access
Overdrive from three different places—for FREE!
Tap on a title to get more
information, or to add it to your cart.
When you find the one you want, tap on
the green “add to bookbag” button.
The “Wishlist” button
puts the book on a list
                           of books you might
                          want to check out in
                          the future. (NOT the
                            same as putting a
                             book on hold!)
The “Sample” button
lets you take a closer
look at the book, just
  in case you aren’t
         sure.
If no copies are available you can tap
the “Wait” button to be added to a hold
              request list.
When you’ve clicked the +Bookbag
 button, you’ll get a confirmation
   screen that looks like this.
Once you hit the “Checkout”
button, the book will appear in your
locker. You still need to download it
to your device by tapping the green
           download button.
When you go back into Overdrive
later, access your checked-out books
by tapping the “Bookshelf” button in
        the upper right corner.
In the Bookshelf, tap on whichever title you want
to access, and it will open. You can return
books by clicking the “Edit” button on the upper
                        left.
NOTES TO SELF:
1- You need an e-reader to choose the “E-Pub”
                       format.

2 - Newer Nook e-readers will sync wirelessly. Older
ones need to be synced with your computer account
via cable in order to download the book. Just drag
and drop it onto your reader.
FINAL NOTE TO SELF:
3 - You need an account at Amazon.com to get a
book for a Kindle. The checkout is free, but will
come via Amazon.
Got psychic
    powers?
   Excellent!

Use them to score
 a powerful book
   right away!
SKUNKED?
      All kids
    (1) without
  psychic powers
        and
(2) with a wireless
      device—
   SHIFT INTO
   OVERDRIVE
  RIGHT AWAY!
