It’s all so
thrilling…
12. If you have a public library card, you
can use it to get books from Frisco or
Plano public libraries. Otherwise,
choose FISD.
13. The home page shows what’s new:
Tap this menu
(looks like 3
lines) to
search for
books.
14. You can search for things in
several different ways.
Click “Explore” to search by genre.
15. If you chose “Sci-Fi and Fantasy”, here’s
what your result screen would look like.
16. Or, tap the “grade levels” menu choice to
search for recommended titles for your

17. Just FYI: Frisco ISD middle school
students can check out any book
rated for middle or elementary
school. You must be in high school
to get books reviewed for HS or
adults.
If you want books for older readers, you should try the Frisco
Public Library. Don’t have a card? They’re free! It just takes
one trip to the library with your utility bill.
For even more choices, take your FPL card to Plano and get a
card for their system too. Then you’ll be able to access
Overdrive from three different places—for FREE!
18. Tap on a title to get more
information, or to add it to your cart.
19. When you find the one you want, tap on
the green “add to bookbag” button.
20. The “Wishlist” button
puts the book on a list
of books you might
want to check out in
the future. (NOT the
same as putting a
book on hold!)
The “Sample” button
lets you take a closer
look at the book, just
in case you aren’t
sure.
21. If no copies are available you can tap
the “Wait” button to be added to a hold
request list.
22. When you’ve clicked the +Bookbag
button, you’ll get a confirmation
screen that looks like this.
23. Once you hit the “Checkout”
button, the book will appear in your
locker. You still need to download it
to your device by tapping the green
download button.
24. When you go back into Overdrive
later, access your checked-out books
by tapping the “Bookshelf” button in
the upper right corner.
25. In the Bookshelf, tap on whichever title you want
to access, and it will open. You can return
books by clicking the “Edit” button on the upper
left.
26. NOTES TO SELF:
1- You need an e-reader to choose the “E-Pub”
format.
2 - Newer Nook e-readers will sync wirelessly. Older
ones need to be synced with your computer account
via cable in order to download the book. Just drag
and drop it onto your reader.
27. FINAL NOTE TO SELF:
3 - You need an account at Amazon.com to get a
book for a Kindle. The checkout is free, but will
