2. Folk Art
 Folk art: is the term used for a wide variety of arts and crafts
that reflect the traditions and social values of a variety of
social groups.
 Folk art is generally created by individuals who have little or
no academic artistic training, and do not indent their art to
be “Fine Art”. Their creations often fulfill a purpose.
 Folk art creations include paintings, sculptures, and other
decorative art forms. Most people also consider objects such
as tools, toys, and costume as folk art.
 Throughout history, every culture creates things for their
daily lives. By creating these things and decorating them,
designs and styles are developed and become apart of the
cultures identity, and visual style.

 For this project, you will chose a culture, and
research the folk art those in the culture create.
 You may chose a culture that your family is apart
of, or any culture you are interested in.
 You will look at the examples of this folk art, find
the styles and themes that they use.
 After researching enough material, you will create
a painting in your chosen folk arts style.
