ABMC 2023 1
Asia Business Model Challenge
9/16/2023
ABMC 2023 2
– Several Asia universities that participated in IBMC in the past got
together and decided to continue to have business model
presentation opportunities and networking places for students in
Asia in 2022.
– ABMC is an international event for students (to be entrepreneurs)
from universities in Japan, Korea, and ASEAN.
– The event promotes entrepreneurship, innovation, and sustainable
business models in the ASEAN market.
– It focuses on innovative business models created by these students in the region.
– To present a startup business model
– To establish business networks in ASEAN
– To get advice for a better and more practical model
– To get advice about the resources of the fund
Three Characteristics of
Asia Business Model
Challenge
1. To focus ASEAN
market
2. To help to start
business
3. To give advice not
grade

2.Practical Startup
Challenges
– Students shouldn't just focus on winning competitions,
but on learning and growing from the experience.
ABMC does not rank the presentations.
– While students enroll in courses like ventures and
entrepreneurship to learn about different theories,
tools, and cases, it's important to note that these
courses do not necessarily prepare them for an
entrepreneurial career.
– ABMC stands out in its focus on providing practical
experiences related to startups, with the goal of
helping students consider entrepreneurship as a
potential career choice.
9/16/2023
ABMC 2023 5
3.Advice, not Rating
– As startups face intense competition in the real world
and the success rate is not as high as we would like, it
is important to provide students with the necessary
tools, knowledge, and experiences to prepare them for
their own startups. That is why ABMC is not focused on
competing with business models but rather aims to
assist students in developing a solid foundation and
understanding of entrepreneurship.
– At the event, student teams will receive guidance from
advisors, investors, and other students on developing
their business models for specific markets. The mentors
will also introduce the students to valuable networks and
potential funding sources to help them succeed.

ABMC 2023 6
Learning Opportunities for
Student Entrepreneurs
– During ABMC, participating students receive a multitude of
valuable benefits such as expert advice, introductions to
networks and funding sources, information about local
market, and guidance on market entry challenges.
– In addition to all the valuable benefits they receive,
participating students also have the opportunity to meet a
variety of teams from other regions of Asia, including Japan,
Korea, and ASEAN. This allows them to expand their network
and gain exposure to different perspectives and approaches
in their field.
– To ensure a comprehensive understanding of the
presentations, each session at ABMC is structured in a ten-
minute format, followed by a twenty-minute session for
questions and answers.

ABMC 2023 7
Benefit of Professors and Private
Investors
9/16/2023
ABMC 2023
– The presence of both professors and private investors at
ABMC would be highly advantageous.
– Professors stand to gain a great deal by engaging with
other educators and discovering innovative teaching
techniques unique to the ASEAN region.
– Meanwhile, private investors have the chance to connect
with student entrepreneurs and potentially explore diverse
avenues for funding and incubation.
– Overall, ABMC promises to be a rich and rewarding
experience for all involved

Large Consumer Base: ASEAN offers a sizable market with a growing middle class and increasing consumer demand. Strategic Geographical Location: ASEAN's location at major trade routes enhances its role as a trade and investment hub with access to global markets. Cultural and Linguistic Diversity: ASEAN markets have diverse cultures and languages, requiring businesses to adapt their strategies accordingly. Infrastructure Development: ASEAN countries prioritize infrastructure projects, creating opportunities for construction and logistics sectors. Government Policies and Regulations: Regulations vary across ASEAN countries, necessitating an understanding of local policies and practices. Growing Digital Economy: ASEAN is undergoing a digital revolution, fostering opportunities in e-commerce, fintech, and digital services. Investment Incentives: Member countries offer incentives to attract foreign investment, including tax breaks and sector-specific incentives. Challenges and Opportunities: ASEAN markets present challenges such as regulatory differences, infrastructure gaps, and cultural nuances, but also offer significant growth opportunities for businesses. It is important to stay updated on evolving factors that shape ASEAN markets.
  2. Our event aims to help students prepare for their own startups, rather than competing with business models, considering the intense competition startups face in the real world. At the event, advisors, investors, and fellow participants will offer guidance to students on creating business models suitable for specific regions. They will also introduce valuable networks and potential sources of funding.
