EVALUATION –QUESTION 4
Who would be the audience for your media
product? and How did you attract/address your
audience?
AziretAsanov12:2
Whoistheaudience?
• All classification decisions are
based on the BBFC’s(They
reflect current views on film,
DVD and video game regulation)
published and regularly updated
Guidelines.
• Examiners look at issues such as
discrimination, drugs, horror,
language, imitable behaviour,
nudity, sex, sexual violence,
theme and violence when
making decisions.
• Demographics = used
to classify an audience into
age, gender, race and other
categories. Also depending on
peoples jobs or status.
Demographic table in the top
right corner.
Psychographics = divides the
market into groups based on social
class, lifestyle, and personality
characteristics e.g. patterns of living
Audienceforourthrillerfilmopening
1. The genre for our film opening/film could be classified as a an eco-
thriller, psychological thriller and generally a thriller overall as that was
our task to create our own thriller film opening.
2. These genre ideas would stand out to viewers who enjoy to watch
these types of genres and like that thriller suspense e.g. in our thriller
film opening, a bomb is in the process of being made, and as it
becomes closer to being ready, suspense builds as we are
psychologically affected as we don’t fully understand what is
happening, but we do know that there is a sense of danger through the
use of a bomb.
3. For our thriller film opening I would give it a certification of 15 and over
as our film footage contains some scenes of a creation of a bomb, there
is some swearing etc. which could be argued that it would no be
suitable for under 15 year olds. So this would attract teenagers ranging
from 15-19 and some older adults but however our film idea would be
more suitable for teenagers as they enjoy these types of films/footage.
Howdidyouattracttheaudience?
We used several elements to appeal to certain audiences.
• 1) Storyline = Our storyline consists of a school boy and another unidentified boy
doing their own things, as one attends school and the other is creating a bomb.
Furthermore the schoolboy feels as if there is a sense of danger but does know how.
• 2)Actors = We used actors aging from 16-17 year olds and so this would attract
teenagers as they are in that age group. However this would be available to watch for
teenagers who are 15 or over.
• 3)Locations = We used someone's house and a school as the location settings.This
would appeal more to school kids who are in their teens as they can relate to what is
happening in the storyline/plot such as the settings/locations.
• 4)Music = Tension building/appropriate sounds/music etc. were used in our film
opening which would help attract and appeal to the audience as we used typical
conventions of thrillers through the use of typical sounds/music which are common in
thrillers.
• 5)Film style = Our film style is more psychological and more tense as throughout the
storyline/plot actions occur which may cause harm such as the creation of a bomb.
