With this release Microsoft has a strategic direction that offers a truly unified management solution utilizing the best of on-premises and cloud-based capabilities.
Before we cover the new features let me reinforce the core features that the Windows Intune service has today and will continue to provide in this new release
The most typical architecture we see in SMB, is the cloud deployment of Windows Intune. Capable of managing 5000 users and up to 20000 devices, from Windows PCs to a range of mobile devices, Windows Intune gives partners a single admin console to manage all their customersβ devices through one tool.
For customers with more complex IT needs, this latest release brings together the power of ConfigMgr and Windows Intune into a single administrator experience, maintaining the advanced PC management of ConfigMgr and delivering a richer management experience to mobile devices. Existing ConfigMgr customers can simply add Windows Intune onto their existing license to extend their existing investment and optimize it for device management. And remember, Windows Intune is THE tool for management of Windows RT β and our upcoming release will also offer native management of iOS and Windows Phone 8. A point to note is that Android will still rely on EAS.
