Topic: Travel – Countries and sights Unit : 5.1
Lesson Objectives: Upon completion of this lesson students will be able to:
1. Understand the names of different countries and the landmarks found in each of them
2. Communicate verbally what country they want to visit and what landmark they will see
Suggested Communicative Language:
Vocabulary words of countries and their landmarks
Dialogue of what country and landmark to visit
Warmer / Review:
Pictures from my travels, visual aids such as
globe / world map, passport and airplane – get
students to think about what the context of lesson
is, identify landmarks and countries
Lesson:
Warmer, introduce word “countries” and “landmarks”
Get students to identify different countries based on pictures of flags, landmarks
based on flashcards and playing a mix-match game with students in teams to get
them to match the landmark with the correct country
CCQ technique – drilling of vocabulary, fixing diction errors and asking questions
about food / landmarks of each country, also for an able class how to travel there
(plane, train, bus)
Dialoging with flashcards – first line modeled by teacher-teacher, teacher-student
and student-student (What country will you go to ? I will go to …)
Dialoging with flashcards – first and second lines modeled by teacher-teacher,
teacher-student and student-student (What country will you go to ? I will go to …,
What will you see there ? I will see …..)
EXT : For a more able class, add in question “what will you eat there”
