most of them have been using the template by default.
2.Personalized message creates the first impression, they make
your point clear!

request sender! You have researched well about the person! –

D. InMails Best Practice
Dear Jeff,
Hope you’re doing well – love what you guys are doing .
Wanted to see if you’d be interested in hopping on a quick call with me < 5 min to discuss how
you’re handling your conversion rates.
www.HisSite.com helps eCommerce companies increase conversion rates by implementing key
site redesign techniques. We are a full service digital eCommerce agency specializing in
eCommerce Strategy, UX/design, development, extension, ongoing support and Mobile
commerce.
We have helped 100+ eCommerce sites like www.samplesite.com
I look forward to hearing from you. Thank you!
Steve Smith
CEO and Founder, Smithco Inc.
According to you, does this look effective?
Mistake 1: Steve sent me an InMail message asking me to believe he knows (and loves) what
I’m doing. Of course, that’s bullshit. Steve needs some kind of point of relevancy to approach
me. So rather than do his homework he makes up a vague one.
Steve has no idea what I’m doing. If he did, he’d tell me exactly what he loves about what I’m
doing!
Your prospects aren’t stupid. Don’t treat them like they are!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Mistakes 2 & 3: Steve wants me to validate the idea of a discussion about his solution. He wants
me to invest time in knowing who he serves, learning about his service and invest time on the
phone.
Sending InMail or Introduction Messages!
TIP 1:
Remember -- asking for appointments kills response rates. Avoid this in your "first touch" email.
If you forget and do ask for a call? You'll get rejected by 90 - 97% of perfectly good prospects. Be
warned!
TIP 2:
The goal of your "first touch" InMail/email message is to earn the right to have a discussion.
Nothing else.
It's exactly like an effective cold call.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Subject: Let's decide?
Hi, Phil.
Are you adding new capability to Cigna's sales training in the future? I work with
organizations like yours to help sales reps drive new business using social platforms. I'm sure
you have excellent sales training in place. Just wondering if you're looking to build on on that
success.
Please let me know what you decide, Phil?
Thanks for considering,
Jeff Molander
Don’t forget to build an authentic Relationship with the person
before you pitch on LinkedIn!
• Offer to introduce your new connection to someone in your network who could
also be helpful to them;
• Boost their visibility in your network by sharing a piece of their content in your
groups;
• Send a handwritten note congratulating them on a recent business
achievement; and
• Connect them to a conference opportunity that increases their visibility with
leaders in their field.
• Read more on LinkedIn effective Sales Strategy here: http://b2b-marketing-
mentor.softwareadvice.com/how-top-sellers-use-linkedin-1213/

E. Using LinkedIn for
People Relationship
Management!
Use www.LinkedIn.com/contacts to sync all your contacts! You can make use of
LinkedIn contact effectively for the following 5 reasons:
Reason 1: Wish people on Birthday & Job Change!
Reason 2: Send via email, manage your email with LinkedIn!
LinkedIn Contacts allow you to send messages to people directly on their email
inbox and not on LinkedIn messages alone. Helps you also manage your email
with LinkedIn Contacts or else it is difficult to discover much about the people
you sent an email to in the past!
Reason 3 : Tag People into different categories!
You can tag people into
a category for your
future reference.
For example:
-IIMTC Prospect
-Database Prospect
-Prospects I Met
-Prospects I Spoke to
-Aviation Event Prospect
etc.
Reason 4: Filter Your Contacts Better, Easy to Send Personalized Messages Learn
how to filter contacts on LinkedIn here : https://www.youtube.com/watch?
v=fg6tzMFopTI
Reason 5: Recording Minute Details About Every Prospect
Set a reminder for
next conversation
through LC.
Note down how you
met, when you met for
better customized
messages!
Check what was your
last exchanged
conversation with the
person.
Tag them into
categories
Use LinkedIn
Contacts as your
PRM for an
organized
experience!
F. Creating Your
Personal Brand!
Taking Thought
Leadership Initiative

articles,
comment on
articles)

increases your
profiles views
by 500% or more
3. Publish Blog Posts on LinkedIn
Learn how to publish a blog on https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=69n5MLXQLzI

  • 60. D. InMails Best Practice
  • 61. Dear Jeff, Hope you’re doing well – love what you guys are doing . Wanted to see if you’d be interested in hopping on a quick call with me < 5 min to discuss how you’re handling your conversion rates. www.HisSite.com helps eCommerce companies increase conversion rates by implementing key site redesign techniques. We are a full service digital eCommerce agency specializing in eCommerce Strategy, UX/design, development, extension, ongoing support and Mobile commerce. We have helped 100+ eCommerce sites like www.samplesite.com I look forward to hearing from you. Thank you! Steve Smith CEO and Founder, Smithco Inc. According to you, does this look effective?
  • 62. Mistake 1: Steve sent me an InMail message asking me to believe he knows (and loves) what I’m doing. Of course, that’s bullshit. Steve needs some kind of point of relevancy to approach me. So rather than do his homework he makes up a vague one. Steve has no idea what I’m doing. If he did, he’d tell me exactly what he loves about what I’m doing! Your prospects aren’t stupid. Don’t treat them like they are! ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mistakes 2 & 3: Steve wants me to validate the idea of a discussion about his solution. He wants me to invest time in knowing who he serves, learning about his service and invest time on the phone.
  • 63. Sending InMail or Introduction Messages! TIP 1: Remember -- asking for appointments kills response rates. Avoid this in your "first touch" email. If you forget and do ask for a call? You'll get rejected by 90 - 97% of perfectly good prospects. Be warned! TIP 2: The goal of your "first touch" InMail/email message is to earn the right to have a discussion. Nothing else. It's exactly like an effective cold call. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Subject: Let's decide? Hi, Phil. Are you adding new capability to Cigna's sales training in the future? I work with organizations like yours to help sales reps drive new business using social platforms. I'm sure you have excellent sales training in place. Just wondering if you're looking to build on on that success. Please let me know what you decide, Phil? Thanks for considering, Jeff Molander
  • 64. Don’t forget to build an authentic Relationship with the person before you pitch on LinkedIn! • Offer to introduce your new connection to someone in your network who could also be helpful to them; • Boost their visibility in your network by sharing a piece of their content in your groups; • Send a handwritten note congratulating them on a recent business achievement; and • Connect them to a conference opportunity that increases their visibility with leaders in their field. • Read more on LinkedIn effective Sales Strategy here: http://b2b-marketing- mentor.softwareadvice.com/how-top-sellers-use-linkedin-1213/ • Also Read, 13 things that really ANNOY people on LinkedIn • http://blog.firebrandtalent.com/2012/10/13-things-that-really-annoy-people-on- linkedin/
  • 65. E. Using LinkedIn for People Relationship Management!
  • 66. Use www.LinkedIn.com/contacts to sync all your contacts! You can make use of LinkedIn contact effectively for the following 5 reasons:
  • 67. Reason 1: Wish people on Birthday & Job Change!
  • 68. Reason 2: Send via email, manage your email with LinkedIn! LinkedIn Contacts allow you to send messages to people directly on their email inbox and not on LinkedIn messages alone. Helps you also manage your email with LinkedIn Contacts or else it is difficult to discover much about the people you sent an email to in the past!
  • 69. Reason 3 : Tag People into different categories! You can tag people into a category for your future reference. For example: -IIMTC Prospect -Database Prospect -Prospects I Met -Prospects I Spoke to -Aviation Event Prospect etc.
  • 70. Reason 4: Filter Your Contacts Better, Easy to Send Personalized Messages Learn how to filter contacts on LinkedIn here : https://www.youtube.com/watch? v=fg6tzMFopTI
  • 71. Reason 5: Recording Minute Details About Every Prospect Set a reminder for next conversation through LC. Note down how you met, when you met for better customized messages! Check what was your last exchanged conversation with the person. Tag them into categories
  • 72. Use LinkedIn Contacts as your PRM for an organized experience!
  • 73. F. Creating Your Personal Brand! Taking Thought Leadership Initiative on LinkedIn
  • 74. 1. Regular Posting on LinkedIn • Post regular content on LinkedIn. • Content should be relevant to the topic that you want to become thought leader in. • Every Project Manager, R&D Specialist Must Contribute! • Ensure to Tag your brand and relate your leadership thoughts!
  • 75. 2. Share Interesting Content, Thoughts on Groups! | Start a discussion! Updates: Post on Groups! Every Team member should join about 50 Groups! (Share articles, comment on articles) Sharing content once a week increases your profiles views by 500% or more
  • 76. 3. Publish Blog Posts on LinkedIn Learn how to publish a blog on https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=69n5MLXQLzI Sales Team | R & D Team | Marketing | Project Management Team | Vertical Heads must post / re-post their blog posts that they have published on Ramco Blog
  • 77. Bufferapp.com is the best way to keep your content scheduled! Contribute & Don’t forget to do what you see in the next slide!

  8. Lets move to the next stage!
  9. How to grow your number of connections on LinkedIn?
  10. Before you get started answer these basic questions! Who are you targeting? Do you know who to reach out to? Do you have a database? If No! Can you create a list of people you want to reach out ti? How many groups are you connected to? Do you search for people on LinkedIn? Do you use Twitter? The answers to these questions have a complete co-relation to next few slides.
  11. You should always set a primary and weekly objective. Primary objective is connecting and the actions you to need to take by setting up weekly goals! Thought Leadership and the content you need to develop and employer branding and activities you need to do with the company page. Where as weekly objectives are about the Number of people you are planning to connect. How many from Advanced search, How many from the group, how many from the existing contacts, how many from Twitter – there should be a balance!
  12. So here are 5 easy ways to grow your Network on LinkedIn. Lets explore ‘Database Request’ on the first go!
  13. But before you get started! Move your curosor towards the top right icon, click on privacy and settings, click on primary email and add all your official email ids as secondary email ids! In this case you can use LinkedIn from both personal and professional email id.
  14. As a professional we have been collecting email ids since the beginning of our career! Eventually we throw them or preserve them and forget it! LinkedIn gives you an opportunity! If you are too bored to map them then collect all the email ids! Click on connections, add connections, any email and invite by individual email! You can either type them here or upload the contacts file in CSV format! LinkedIn will send them a friends request on behalf of you even if they are not on LinkedIn.
  15. I am sure most of you have synced your contacts by now! Connect you outlook, gmail. Yahoo mail in order to add your grow your network with known people!
  16. Its best to connect with your friends, family, colelagues, prospects, supplies, customers, ex-colleagues! They should also know you are a Thought Leader! They will trust you more than regular individuals.
  17. Tip 2: an individual can join about 50 LinkedIn Groups! Every individual in the organization should join 50 different groups pertaining to different markets, industry and relevant to your subject.
  18. This is a group and The members section of every group throws open the list of members! Isn’t it a clear database for you to decide who you want to connect to? Remember on a free LinkedIn platform searching people is limited hence these groups can be your savior.
  19. Examples of group where CEOs connect! See how can you get access to or access through!
  20. You need to learn LinkedIn search is restricted to your first degree connection (that is the audience in your network), 2nd degree connection audience in your friends network and 3rd degree which is the audience in your friends of friends network. So, buying an in-mail package is really not important if you are constantly reaching out to them through your initial connection + it also gives you an opportunity to get introduced. A member in your network can connect you to their 2nd and tertiary connections.
  21. Once you grow your network you can search people by just typing their company name or designation and the city! Remember, LinkedIn allows you to search Groups, Connections, People and Companies!
  22. Try using the Advances Search Feature on LinkedIn. You can find this on the right hand side of the search bar. Advanced search allows you to search on the basis of Keywords First / Last Name (For Mapping) Title (Designation) Current / Past Company Relationship (1st, 2nd, 3rd, Group) Location So far example if I search for CEOs in Chennai I will get the results from 1st, 2nd and 3rd degree connections!
  23. So on Advances search LinkedIn lists 7,614 CEOs who I can connect with in Chennai. Remember, they come from my 1st, 2nd and 3rd degree connections
  24. May be you are beginner and there are not many people on your network!
  25. You can use Twitter Search | People Search and mark your location! At-least you will have a database to map. Search on Twitter | Map on LinkedIn! Or follow them, tweet to them and ask them to connect with you on LinkedIn. LinkedIn and Twitter in combination works better, Facebook is personal!
  26. It is not just about sending friends requests or networking requests it is also about how you send it what messaging is required. In this session we will disocver the power and importance of sending personalized messages!
  27. When you send a friends request to someone they ask you to include a personal note! Have you ever included the same? I am sure not many do!
  28. Stop sending the standard template requests! People don’t care about it much!
  29. For example. I was searching for COO in the Aviation Industry. Came across Delta Airlines individuals. I see COO are not very active on LinkedIn. But, there are other team members who are active. Managing Director of Corporate Security is very active! So how about connecting with him with a personalized note? Since I don’t see many updates on Randy’s profile I have researched about his profile and learnt that he has served Delta Airlines for more than 20 years now and that’s my topic to start with! Similarly on the other hand I found COO not very active and his profile is kept hidden asks for upgraded version to connect to them. In this case I can assume that I will connect to Randy and then develop a relationship to reach to COO or Since, I have met the COO at the event I can also send an direct email to him requesting him to setting up a LinkedIn profile for him. You can read both the messages.
  30. Here is another example, which you can go through at a later point of time!
  31. Here are some quick intro messages for you reference. Some of the standard templates that you can make use of.
  32. One more example of introduction message
  33. Add a personal note and personalize your signature with contact info and email address that’s the best way to kick start and there are chances you may get contacted.
  34. Example of introduction message to people after you meet them at the event!
  35. These are sample tempaltes! I am sure you have better stories to tell and there are more researched points to add!
  36. If you are asking someone to introduce you to the person you want to connect with. Ensure you briefly explain how you want to be introduced and why you need an introduction and how the introduction can help the prospect. Save the pitch for the prospect.
  37. Just read this carefully! Does this look effectve?
