Presentatie Ivan Van de Cloot - Socius Trefdag 'Solidariteit?!' (20 november 2014) Kapitalisme en solidariteit: het lijkt niet altijd een 'match made in heaven', maar kan schijn hier bedriegen? Ook het kapitalisme is een huis met vele kamers, waarin bewegingen en tegenbewegingen vrolijk gedijen. Als econoom, publicist en lid van de denktank Itinera Institute is Ivan Van de Cloot uitstekend geplaatst om ons een goede kijk te bieden op de bredere ontwikkelingen binnen het kapitalisme en het bijhorende denken over solidariteit.

4. Definitie kapitalisme
Kapitalisme is een economisch systeem waar
handel, industrie en productiemiddelen
grotendeels privaat bezit zijn en aangewend
worden voor winstdoeleinden. Centrale
eigenschappen bevatten kapitaalaccumulatie,
competitieve markten en arbeid in loondienst.
In dergelijke economie zijn het de
contracterende partijen die de prijzen bepalen
waaraan goederen en diensten en bezittingen
worden verhandeld.

OK meer productie en consumptie maar moreel inferieur, want=
materialisme, oppervlakkig, vervreemd
Zijn we zeker dat er nu meer “vulgaire toewijding is aan louter
consumptie?”
-denk bv. aan scholing versus ongeletterdheid, culturele ontplooiing
-wereld is een dorp geworden, plaats die wetenschap ingenomen
heeft, meer democratieën, rechten van vrouwen en kinderen
-de stad: minder geweld, minder materialistisch, minder
oppervlakkig dan armen vroeger

verenigbaar met de rechten en vrijheden van anderen. De

garanderen.

Sociale en economische ongelijkheid is alleen gerechtvaardigd als
ze verbonden is aan posities die openstaan voor iedereen en/of
