“Time is a game played beautifully by
children.”
Heraclitus, Fragments
Why Traditional Games?
Game is essential to healthy development. During
engagement in social play interactions, children’s
language, social skills, problem solving abilities and
values as teamwork, respect, and self-esteem are
developed.
We decided to join this project because it is necessary
to know about our country’s tradition and
customs and it would be interesting to find
common elements and influences with others.
Through this process we understand and respect every
nation’s culture, we learn the value of cooperation, the
equality among contributors and express our
opinions in an interactive supportive way.
Parents participation
Parents’ contribution was essential by displaying the
games that they used to play during their
childhood. Children felt proud by watching their
parents to take an important part to this project and
be substantial members of this.
Process
We presented some traditional games from our
country to other schools and we played some of theirs.

LOGO
Every school prepared and presented some Logos for
the project. Our Logo was the winner after a
competition where every student voted one of the
others.
We made some pieces of puzzle with flags of every
country who participated in the project and the word
“game” written inside.
We made a puzzle game about our Logo:

Difficulties
The only difficulty that I went through was to
persuade parents to publish their children’s
photos for the needs of this project.
After a presentation about the benefits and
opportunities that this cooperation gives us and
about the safety of personal documents they decided
to take part in this without any hesitation.
Results
It was our first attempt in eTwinning this year and
we learned how to use web tools to cooperate with
children from other countries. Through an interactive
communication we gained many opportunities to
understand the usage of a computer except for
playing games, listening to music or watching
videos. We managed to cooperate successfully with
other schools from Europe by sending and receiving
information in many ways (e-mail, photos, videos,
power point presentations, Skype calls) about our
culture and tradition.
Children were excited to learn and play games
that their parents and grandparents used to play.
They proudly watched other students play Greek
traditional games and were surprised every time they
watched children from other countries play some
games with common rules with ours and different
names.
The collaboration with educators was excellent.
There was a regularly communication via e-mail and
uploading photos/videos/presentations/comments in
TwinSpase. There was some Skype communications
with other schools where children and teachers had the
opportunity to introduce themselves, make a
presentation of their school and share some
information about their country. I was surprised
about how supportive and friendly was every teacher
and how immediate they responded when it was
necessary.
Children and educators gained the chance to feel
proud about their country’s culture and history and
make some new good friends from Europe!
Thank you!Thank you!
