EF Academy Bildungstage

Hinweis der Redaktion

  1. 1 – WHAT IS EF ACADEMY We give students your age, students between the ages of 14 and 19, an exceptional education at our boarding schools in the US: New York and San Diego, and the UK: Oxford and Torbay. We offer internationally recognized programs that we know universities value, and access to university guidance counselors that can help you navigate the application process and help you get accepted. We also offer the Global Curriculum that ensures that our students are ready for a global and international future after their high school studies.
  5. Wie machen wir das? Was macht die EF Academy aus? 1 – WHAT IS EF ACADEMY We give students your age, students between the ages of 14 and 19, an exceptional education at our boarding schools in the US: New York and San Diego, and the UK: Oxford and Torbay. We offer internationally recognized programs that we know universities value, and access to university guidance counselors that can help you navigate the application process and help you get accepted. We also offer the Global Curriculum that ensures that our students are ready for a global and international future after their high school studies.
  6. Unterbringung in HF oder residence
13 – INTERNATIONALISM At EF Academy, our students encounter internationalism in everything they do. Anyone who has had an international experience of their own, whether it was traveling, living, working or studying in a foreign country for an extended amount of time, can tell you that it changes you – it makes you grow and helps you develop into an independent, open-minded, confident global citizen. Top universities tend to have their own international communities. Professors value the different perspectives that students bring to their classrooms. International students add an element of vibrancy to the university campus and its culture – and top universities love that. At EF Academy, students from outside the US and UK become familiar with the idea-sharing that occurs in classrooms filled with students with different perspectives. EF Academy students have grown and learned in the vibrant academic communities that universities value – being international and learning in an international environment are two things that will certainly benefit a student applying to a top university outside of their home country.
  8. 5 – IGCSE IGCSE is what we offer our Grade 9 and 10 students. It’s a specialized English-language curriculum that offers the best preparation possible for the IB Diploma program and A-Levels. This international qualification is based on individual subjects, so students receive an IGCSE for each subject they take. After IGCSE, students can move onto one of these two programs for their last two years of secondary school.
  9. 6 – IB DIPLOMA The IB Diploma program is a rigorous, broad qualification that is grounded in the concepts of critical thinking, inquiry, internationalism, understanding and active participation. The curriculum includes six subjects and three core requirements. Our students receive instruction from qualified IB teachers in language, social studies, experimental sciences, math and art courses. The three core requirements, which challenge students to apply what they’ve learned in class, are the Extended Essay independent research project, the Theory of Knowledge course, and a “Creativity, Activity, Service” component. Admissions officers are particularly interested in the Extended Essay component of the IB Diploma program because it is very similar to the sorts of assignments students will have to complete in university. The essay gives students the opportunity to show they already have key university-level skills and a good score on this IB component demonstrates to universities what the student is capable of and how he or she might perform in a higher education program. When it comes to exams, universities around the world offer credit to students who receive high IB exam scores. This means that IB students may complete their university degree in less time than peers who enrolled in an alternate high school program.
  10. 7 – A-LEVELS The A-Level program is for students who would like to specialize their studies and who plan on attending university in the UK, however it is also an internationally recognized qualification like the IB Diploma. What is special about this curriculum is that it ensures students achieve the best exam results on the subjects that focus on their individual talents and skills. Our counselors help students pick the optimal combination of three or more A-Level subjects to make sure they will gain acceptance to top universities in their field of study.
  11. 8 – HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA The U.S. High School Diploma program sets students up for acceptance to a university in North America and it is characterized by the flexibility students enjoy when choosing their subjects and after-school activities. However, students are welcome to earn IB certificates in the subjects they feel are their strongest.
  12. 2 – FACULTY / UNIVERSITY GUIDANCE EF Academy has a phenomenal team of university guidance counselors. From working as admissions officers at Oxford and Warwick, to writing a book about preparing for university acceptance, the university guidance counselors that are a part of the EF Academy team know exactly how to help our students because many of them have been on the university side before. At EF Academy, each student has access to this world-class university guidance and the counselors work one-on-one with each student every step of the way to help them decide where they’d like to apply and how to put together an outstanding application that focuses on their strengths and highlights the impact they could make on the world with a university degree from that institute. In today’s world, university acceptance is a competitive arena. Our counselors give EF Academy students an edge by offering personalized university guidance based on a student’s interests, academics strengths and desires in terms of degrees, programs of study and location. It’s no secret that this top-of-the-line level of university guidance, combined with the ambition and dedication exhibited by EF Academy students, is a major factor in the 100% university acceptance rate at each of our campuses. Students who successfully complete an academic program at EF Academy are guaranteed acceptance to a university anywhere in the world. Our students also enjoy a 34% acceptance rate to the top 25 universities in the UK and the top 50 in the U.S.
  13. 10 – EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES How do you become interesting to university admissions officers? We know that there are many students who work hard and have great grades. But how do you stand out when applying for university? In order to get admitted into a top university, you have to stand out. You have the be interesting. And solely depending on great grades will not make it, how will you differentiate yourself from other students who also have the same average grade as you? The answer is: Get involved in extracurricular activities! EF Academy has an incredible range of extracurricular activities and there’s something for everyone. If you’re interested in focusing on a certain part of your studies then you can get involved in an academic group for math or science and you can take part in academic competitions like Moody’s Math Challenge, The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award or the Harvard Debate Challenge. If you’re pulled more into an artistic direction, there are photography, visual arts and drama clubs where you will be able to express yourself with others who share your interest. And if you’d like to demonstrate your physical talents, then you can participate in a sport – football/soccer, mountain biking, running or golf. If none of these seem attractive to you, you can start a new club, which shows great initiative and appeals to universities as well. Each campus also organize cultural excursions that not only complement but also enhance our students’ studies and allow them to dive into the cultures of the larger communities surrounding them. University trips are also regularly organized – our campuses are all located in regions that are home to different colleges and universities, which makes it rather easy for university guidance counselors or teachers to take students to visit campuses for research and preparation purposes or to attend workshops and seminars that touch on the subjects students are studying. EF Academy gives you the chance to find out what your passionate about and allows you to pursue your interests while you earn great grades. You should keep in mind, however, that it’s not about how many activities or clubs you’re involved in but the level of involvement and accomplishment.
  14. 11 – VOLUNTEER WORK/WORK EXPERIENCE Being passionate, trying new things, participating in activities – these are all how you become interesting, and you can take your passions even further by gaining work experience and sharing your passion to a community around you. At EF Academy, our students receive the unique opportunity to join an exclusive summer internship at one of our 17 EF Education First offices around the world. Students in their last year of A-Levels, IB Diploma or U.S. High School Diploma will be eligible to apply for the internship in order to make their university application stand out even more, gain real life work experience and broaden their minds by working in an international environment.
  15. 12 – GLOBALIZED 21ST CENTURY Succeeding in a globalized 21st century. This is one of the most important things we do at EF Academy to make universities notice you and to help you prepare for the world beyond university. We foster these “21st century” skills in a few different ways. These skills are all promoted on our campuses and in what we call our “Global Curriculum.” Our international campuses in the U.S. and UK are a catalyst for the natural multilingualism that occurs in our students’ lives while they are with us. Our activities and the excursions our staff organizes for the students encourages them to reach beyond their comfort zones and explore the world around them. Cultural exchange and collaboration is enriched as students work alongside peers from 75 different countries. These are all advanced skills that impress universities. Having them and also knowing how and when to use them make you a stand out as candidate, and admissions officers look for the students who are equipped with the tools they need to succeed in the challenging and competitive learning environments that top universities are known for.
  16. Schüleraustausch und Uni Placement als Netzwerk
  17. 9 – FREEDOM TO CHOOSE A PROGRAM Students who enroll at EF Academy – whether they attend our school in the U.S. or the UK – can choose what program fits their goals, interests, strengths and learning style. Which means that our students excel in their chosen programs, programs that top universities all around the world give great value to because they know students who successfully complete them are equipped with the skills they need to continue their success in higher education.
