INTRODUCTION TO FLOWCHARTING
INTRODUCTIONTOFLOWCHARTING:
A flowchart is a type of diagram that represents an algorithm, workflow or
process, showing the steps as boxes of various kinds, and their order by
connecting them with arrows.
Features of a flowchart :
 make process flowcharts.
 give everyone a clear understanding of the process.
 help to identify non-value-added operations.
 facilitate teamwork and communication.
 keep everyone on the same page.
 design a flow charts.
 flowchart construction etc.
IMPORTANCEOFAFLOWCHART:
 This diagrammatic representation illustrates a solution model to a
given problem. Flowcharts are used in analysing, designing,
documenting or managing a process or program in various fields.
 Flowcharts are used in designing and documenting complex processes
or programs.
 Like other types of diagrams, they help visualize what is going on and
thereby help the people to understand a process, and perhaps also find
flaws, bottlenecks, and other less-obvious features within it.
MACRO FLOWCHART
MACROFLOWCHART:
 only the major steps of the process are included.
 It contains 6-8 steps.
 It is basically used to communicate and understand the big-picture view
of the major steps in the process.
 It is also used before drawing a more detailed flow chart.
 Decisions, delays and recycle loops are usually not shown in macro
flow charts.
 Symbols which are mostly needed are rectangles and arrows.

action and decision.
 It is commonly used to chart how a particular task
performed.
 It shows more of information.

THREEMAINTROUBLESPOTSARE:
 Reservation quota .
 Judging the talent of the student according to the cut-off marks.
 Means to communicate the college authorities are limited.
PROBLEMDEFINITIONS
PROBLEMDEFINITIONS:
 Reservation quota: There are numerous reservations like reservation
for women, reservation for physically challenged, reservation for
economically backward class, reservation for Scheduled Castes etc.
There are many examples of people making false documents just to get a
seat in a college or a job. This leaves the more eligible candidate to give
their seat to a person belonging to a reserve category.
‘Donation quota ’ is one of the sub point included to reserve the seats in
which a particular person charges the amount to the colleges and appoint
the seats for himself. This may lead to the biggest trouble spot because the
person who deserves the seat may not be able to appoint.
 Judging the talent of the student according to the cut-off marks:
The eligibility of the student is judged by whatever marks he obtained. If a
particular student is obtaining 80% marks related to the cut off that means
he is a brilliant student whereas the student scoring 60 % marks is not
eligible.
Therefore, this system is totally wrong. There is no guarantee or assurance
that a 80 or 90 scorer student would be performing well in the academics
of the college.
Each and every student have their own capacities and eligibilities. Even a
60 scorer student can perform brilliantly.
 Means to communicate the college authorities are limited :
There is total dependency on the postal services. The admission letters
are been posted and so there is no guarantee that the letters are been
received to the students or not.
Hence, the most deserving student may not be appointed.
Other than this, there is no response at the helpline number provided by
the university in their website which may lead to the lack of information
for the students . They can also not be able to communicate to the
university.
LESSONLEARNEDBYTHETEAM
LEARNINGS:
 We came to know about the admission process.
 We came to know the difference between micro and macro
flowcharts.
 With the help of this we came to know about the problems which an
applicant have to face.
 We learned about the various objects used in flowchart.
 Through this flow chat, the university can identify all its problems and
take necessary steps in minimizing their errors.
THANKYOU
