This document summarizes a bachelor's thesis that investigated the potential benefits of utilizing RFID technology at Skanska Maskin AB, a Swedish construction equipment manufacturer, seller, and renter. The thesis used a case study approach and Soft Systems Methodology to analyze Skanska Maskin AB's existing barcode-based system and conceptualize a future RFID system. Interviews and observations were conducted to understand the current system and gather requirements. The thesis aimed to identify benefits the RFID system could provide over the barcode system for functions like renting, selling, repairing, and recycling equipment. The findings were intended to help Skanska Maskin AB determine if implementing RFID technology would be worthwhile.
