9. A waste of my time?
Yesterday, I gathered up all my old newspapers. My sister is always
reminding me to recycle, but the recycling bin was outside, it was
raining… and I couldnt be bothered. I shrugged my shoulders as I
picked up a paper which had just fallen on the floor. After all, what
have my old newspapers got to do with global warming ? Nothing,
right?
Wrong. As I picked up the newspapers, I noticed a report about
greenhouse gases in the USA. In fact, it was this chart that caught my
eye. It shows the different causes of greenhouse gases. It was
“Deforestation” that stood out. That meant forests being cut down
for farming, housing and, yes, paper (my newwspapers).
I sighed. I was responsable for that blue sector . I stepped out into the
pouring rain, and walked over to the recycling bin. I knew I was doing
the right thing.
