WHAT IS IT?
A superstition is a belief that a particular thing,
event or circumstance holds some kind of
significance that something going to happen (bad or
good) even though it‟s not based on knowledge or
reason. This belief can be based on fear,
ignorance, trust in magic, coincidence, or a prior
experience with a similar situation.




Fear of what is unknown and mysterious.



Belief that some events bring good or bad luck.



“Beliefs, or half-beliefs that lead to ignorance, fear, or
belief in magic."

 To find a four-leaf clover is to find good luck.
 If you walk under a ladder, you will have bad luck.
 If a black cat crosses your path you will have bad
luck.
 To break a mirror will bring you seven years bad
luck .
 To open an umbrella in the house is to bring bad
luck .


THE VIEW OF ISLAM ON SUPERSTITION

Islam does not acknowledge the concept of
superstition.
 “The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be
upon him) said „there is no such thing
as…superstition‟.”
 Islam condones such behavior

SUPERSTITIONS ACROSS DIFFERENT COUNTRIES



In UK it is believed that you would be lucky if you
meet a black cat.

Unlucky are those who break a mirror, see a crow.

Not one Englishman will open his umbrella near the
door or will put his new shoes on the table



If an Italian sees a nun, he will seek to touch a
metal, so that the luck doesn‟t leave him.
JAPAN
Japanese are afraid to be photoed in three. The
one from the middle is expected to die.
 For avoiding misfortune, Japanese will not talk to
man who talks while sleeping.
 If you rest just after eating, you will become a
cow/pig/elephant.

come to you.

IN THE HOUSE BECAUSE THEY THOUGHT THIS
MIGHT CAUSE A DEATH IN THE FAMILY. TODAY NOT
SO MANY PEOPLE THINK ABOUT THIS
SUPERSTITION.
SUGGESTIONS AND REMEDIES OF
SUPERSTITION


According to my point of view that superstition can
be cured by brain washing and by virtue of great
religion Islam which is a complete code of life. we
should increase our scientific education as well as
religious education then we can root up this
evil/Problem.
CONCLUSION.
Superstation is irrational state of mind which is
illogical state we should be reasonable and rational
mind to overcome upon it.
 Education is one factor that can wipe out
superstitions to some extent.
 A scientific outlook and temper should be cultivated
to do away with superstitions.
