Introduction
The TRAVEL AGENTS ASSOCIATION OF INDIA (TAAI) was formed towards the end of the year 1951 by
a group of twelve leading travel agents, who felt the time had come to create an Association to
regulate the travel industry in India along organized lines and in accordance with sound business
principles.
The primary purpose was to protect the interests of those
engaged in the industry, to promote its orderly growth and
development and to safeguard the travelling public from
exploitation by unscrupulous and unreliable operators.
In the following years, the Association's membership has
swelled steadily from the original 12 to approximately
2500 members consisting of Active, Associate, Allied,
Government and Non-Resident.
TAAI boasts of its unique conglomerate in terms of it being the only Nationally-functional Nodal
Body of Travel Agents, Tour Operators, Hotel Companies, Airlines, Govt. Tourism Bodies, Foreign
Members, Non-political, Non-Commercial and Non-Profit making organization, Catering to all
segments of Travel and Tourism Industry through Active, Associate, Government, Non - Resident and
Allied categories of members to promote to/ from Tourism from India. TAAI is recognized by the
world body of Tourism – UFTAA (United Federation of Travel Agents Associations).
What is TAAI?
TAAI is a professional coordinating body of different segments of the travel and tourism
industry.
TAAI is the Nodal Association of India.
TAAI is non-political, non-commercial and a non-profit making organization.
TAAI is recognized as the main representative body of the travel and tourism industry.
The symbol TAAI is an enforcement of reliable and professional service.

Aims and Objective of TAAI
TAAI has always taken the initiative, together with its team, to set out the priorities in order to
concentrate on areas of grave concern to the Association. These coupled with the following
undertakings provide us the impetus for delivering better each time.
Always movement in the forefront
During its journey of 60 indelibly glorious years, TAAI has grown as an association worth reckoning
for its dependability. TAAI has always been on the forefront to raise professionalism in the travel and
tourism industry, striving to promote an orderly growth and development of the business, and to
safeguard the traveling public from exploitation by unscrupulous and unreliable elements in this
industry. TAAI's stupendous growth reflects the demands made on the service industry by members
of the public that call for high ethical and professional standards. Obviously, TAAI’s symbol is now
synonymous with trustworthy travels without the travails.

To help promote, maintain and stimulate the growth of travel and tourism in the country
To draw the attention of controlling and regulating authorities in the country and discuss with them
the problems of the industry and work towards the survival and more importantly the betterment
of its members

seminars or workshops
Maintains healthy public relations by protecting the image of the Association and its members
Liaises with the world bodies representing to them matters affecting the travel and tourism

The TAAI Structure
Travel Agents Association of India has its membership spread (2450) through the length and breadth
of the country. In order to optimize its goals and to be effective TAAI has 4 regions and 19 chapters
that meet at regular intervals. The Office Bearers and the Managing Committee, which is its elected
body, meets at least 7 – 8 times a year. There are various councils appointed serve as TAAI’s mentors
