2. Brief History
South Central Railway Headquarters Hospital, Lallaguda
dates back to more than 75 years in history. In 1927 a small hospital was
started by erstwhile NIZAM RAILWAYS at present location. After
formation of South Central Railway in 1966, this hospital has been
developed into a tertiary care referral hospital over the years.
The present Hospital building has been in operation since
1972. The old OPD block and administrative blocks were commissioned
in 1974. Over the years various departments & wards have been
renovated, remodeled with installation of modern equipments, leading to
the present set up of Central Hospital, Lallaguda.
Central Hospital ,Lallaguda is at present a 300 bedded
hospital with 10 general wards, one special ward, 3 intensive care units
& one Dialysis unit.
3. Infrastructure
The hospital provides comprehensive health care services
(OPD&IPD) in all specialties like Medicine ,Surgery, Obstetrics &
Gynec, Orthopedics, Pediatrics, Pathology, Ophthalmology, ENT,
Anesthesia , Radiology, Dermatology, Psychiatry & Family Welfare
Services.
Full time in house super speciality services are provided in
cardiology, neuromedicine & neurosurgery.
In addition, consultants from outside on limited hours basis
are providing services both on case to case format as well as honorary
visiting specialists in the specialities of Cardiology, Neuro sciences,
Nephrology, Orthopedics, Neurosurgery, Gastroenterology, Surgical
&medical oncology, hand surgery, Paediatrics & Microbiology.

• New NICU with 6 radiant
warmers, 3 photo therapy units,
electronic weighing machine,
mobile infant resuscitation trolley,
resuscitation kits, baby cradles and
trolleys, Multi para monitors,
syringe pumps, Central suction and
Oxygen facility.
• The Unit provides intensive
and neonatal care to premature
babies, LBW babies and other
acutely sick babies under the
supervision of Pediatricians and
trained Nursing Staff. Additional
facilities of breast feeding room,
Kangaroo mother care and septic
NICU are available.
22. Dialysis Unit
• 6-bedded Unit with Dialysis
facility for five beds (5
dialysis machines) and one
bed for preparation of
patient. All beds are
provided with resuscitative
intensive monitoring
systems.
