Nutshell
Introduction
Technology is very helpful to students
nowadays, because we are in the 21st century
and most of the people were into gadgets
especially computers. Using technology has
its advantages and disadvantages. To mush
use of technology can be harmful to us, but
that is why we need to study educational
technology. To transform traditional way of
teaching in to a modern and updated one.
Educational Technology in a
Nutshell
Educational technology is the effective use of
technological tools in learning. As a concept, it
concerns an array of tools, such as media,
machines and networking hardware, as well as
considering underlying theoretical
perspectives for their effective application.
 Also called e-learning, it includes an array of
approaches, components, and delivery
methods.
 It includes numerous types of media that
deliver text, audio, images, animation, and
streaming video, and includes technology
applications and processes such as audio or
video tape, satellite TV, CD-ROM, and
computer-based learning, as well as local
intranet/extranet and web-based learning.
 It is also the scientific and organized
teaching learning process and or product.
 Educational technology is the use of
technology to improve education.
 Educational technology is sometimes also
known as instructional technology or learning
technology.
Technology in Education
Is the application of technology to any of those
processes involved in operating the
institutions which house the educational
enterprise.
Bridging the generation gap
A huge generation gap in the field of education
also exist and it will continue to widen if it will
not adapt the changes.
According to Alvin Toffler’s book, Future
Shock, it shows that information age has
begun to create many cultural changes in
the family and society as a whole. Much of
the old technology such as tube radios,
platter records and etc., are quickly
vanishing today because of the rapid
development or changes of technology.
How to bridge the gap?
 Differentiate modern and
traditional way of teaching.
Understand the potentials of ICT.
Traditional teaching
Traditional teaching is concerned with
the teacher being the controller of
the learning environment.
Traditional way is by using visual aids
and writing on boards.
Also known as the chalk and talk
teaching.
Modern Teaching
 modern methods of teaching listening skills
encompass everything from interactive
exercises to multimedia resources.
 Modern teaching is defined as being a method
of teaching knowledge and skills based on the
current world needs.
 This method of teaching has introduced
children to computer studies, online testing,
and other types of technology used in the
world.
Traditional
Modern

Technology (ICT)
 Information Technology is transmitting,
sharing, comprehend knowledge through the
use of technology.
 The focus of ICT is the instructional
medias that the learners and teachers can
use to acquire learning and information about
a specific lesson.

Computer as a Tutor
Computer can be an effective tutor. It
can facilitate students very well. It is
very effective in widening our knowledge
through a specific thing. Students can
easily catch up the lessons through the
help of the computer or technology. And
it also make the learning more
interesting.
Computer as a Teacher tool
The computer can provide access information
faster, it also enhance the communication. It
helps the teacher to know more about a
certain thing and impart more knowledge to
his/her students. It serves as the teachers
information tool.
Hypermedia
Hypermedia is a multimedia. It is a educational
computer software where information is
shown and student activities are integrated
in a virtual learning environment.

and EDTECH 2
Learning in Educational
Technology 1
In ET-1, the learner was also oriented towards
averting the dangers of dehumanization
which technology brings into societies, such
as through ideological propaganda,
pornography, financial fraud, and other
exploitative use of technology. Sad to say,
these dangers continue to affect peoples and
cultures while widening the gap between rich
and poor countries.
In EDTECH1 it is more on the history and
background of technology. It says that
Technology is not just a machine it is a
“planned”, systematic method of working to
achieve planned outcomes a process not a
product.
Computers should be use according to their
functions, it can help us in our studies and
even at work. Computer is not just by
playing games and watching videos. It is
also helpful in our daily lives, computer has
been part of our lives since then.
Learning in Educational
Technology 2
Educational technology 2 is concerned with
“Integrating Technology into Teaching and
Learning.” Specifically this is focused on
introducing, reinforcing, supplementing and
extending the knowledge and skills to
learners so that they can become
exemplary users of educational technology.
 Educational Technology 2 will involve a deeper
understanding of the computer a well as
hands-on application of computer skills.
 Students learn faster, assignments made
easier and studying more interesting thru the
use of computers and the internet.
 The course aims to help the learners to adapt
to the rapid and continuing change in
information and communication technology
(ICT).
The Student After EDTECH 2
With the help of technology our world is fast
changing. From traditional into a modern one.
Just like technology our world is getting
updated to what is trend. By studying
Educational Technology people were now open
minded to what is new and trend. We learn
more and share more because of technology.

  • 2. Topic Outline  The Student  Educational Technology in a Nutshell  Learning Through EDTECH 1 and EDTECH 2.  The Student After EDTECH.
  • 3. The Student I am Shaira Feline D. Suerte, 19 years old. Currently studying at Cebu Technological University Moalboal Campus Moalboal, Cebu. A third year student, taking up Bachelor of Secondary Education major in home Economics Technology.
  • 5. Introduction Technology is very helpful to students nowadays, because we are in the 21st century and most of the people were into gadgets especially computers. Using technology has its advantages and disadvantages. To mush use of technology can be harmful to us, but that is why we need to study educational technology. To transform traditional way of teaching in to a modern and updated one.
  • 6. Educational Technology in a Nutshell Educational technology is the effective use of technological tools in learning. As a concept, it concerns an array of tools, such as media, machines and networking hardware, as well as considering underlying theoretical perspectives for their effective application.
  • 7.  Also called e-learning, it includes an array of approaches, components, and delivery methods.  It includes numerous types of media that deliver text, audio, images, animation, and streaming video, and includes technology applications and processes such as audio or video tape, satellite TV, CD-ROM, and computer-based learning, as well as local intranet/extranet and web-based learning.
  • 8.  It is also the scientific and organized teaching learning process and or product.  Educational technology is the use of technology to improve education.  Educational technology is sometimes also known as instructional technology or learning technology.
  • 9. Technology in Education Is the application of technology to any of those processes involved in operating the institutions which house the educational enterprise.
  • 10. Bridging the generation gap A huge generation gap in the field of education also exist and it will continue to widen if it will not adapt the changes.
  • 11. According to Alvin Toffler’s book, Future Shock, it shows that information age has begun to create many cultural changes in the family and society as a whole. Much of the old technology such as tube radios, platter records and etc., are quickly vanishing today because of the rapid development or changes of technology.
  • 12. How to bridge the gap?  Differentiate modern and traditional way of teaching. Understand the potentials of ICT.

  • 14. Traditional teaching Traditional teaching is concerned with the teacher being the controller of the learning environment. Traditional way is by using visual aids and writing on boards. Also known as the chalk and talk teaching.

Modern Teaching  modern methods of teaching listening skills encompass everything from interactive exercises to multimedia resources.  Modern teaching is defined as being a method of teaching knowledge and skills based on the current world needs.  This method of teaching has introduced children to computer studies, online testing, and other types of technology used in the world.

Information and Communication Technology (ICT)  Information Technology is transmitting, sharing, comprehend knowledge through the use of technology.  The focus of ICT is the instructional medias that the learners and teachers can use to acquire learning and information about a specific lesson.

  • 21. Computer as a Tutor Computer can be an effective tutor. It can facilitate students very well. It is very effective in widening our knowledge through a specific thing. Students can easily catch up the lessons through the help of the computer or technology. And it also make the learning more interesting.
  • 22. Computer as a Teacher tool The computer can provide access information faster, it also enhance the communication. It helps the teacher to know more about a certain thing and impart more knowledge to his/her students. It serves as the teachers information tool.
  • 23. Hypermedia Hypermedia is a multimedia. It is a educational computer software where information is shown and student activities are integrated in a virtual learning environment. Learning in Educational Technology 1 In ET-1, the learner was also oriented towards averting the dangers of dehumanization which technology brings into societies, such as through ideological propaganda, pornography, financial fraud, and other exploitative use of technology. Sad to say, these dangers continue to affect peoples and cultures while widening the gap between rich and poor countries.
  • 26. In EDTECH1 it is more on the history and background of technology. It says that Technology is not just a machine it is a “planned”, systematic method of working to achieve planned outcomes a process not a product.
  • 27. Computers should be use according to their functions, it can help us in our studies and even at work. Computer is not just by playing games and watching videos. It is also helpful in our daily lives, computer has been part of our lives since then.

Learning in Educational Technology 2 Educational technology 2 is concerned with “Integrating Technology into Teaching and Learning.” Specifically this is focused on introducing, reinforcing, supplementing and extending the knowledge and skills to learners so that they can become exemplary users of educational technology.
  • 29.  Educational Technology 2 will involve a deeper understanding of the computer a well as hands-on application of computer skills.  Students learn faster, assignments made easier and studying more interesting thru the use of computers and the internet.  The course aims to help the learners to adapt to the rapid and continuing change in information and communication technology (ICT).

  • 31. The Student After EDTECH 2 With the help of technology our world is fast changing. From traditional into a modern one. Just like technology our world is getting updated to what is trend. By studying Educational Technology people were now open minded to what is new and trend. We learn more and share more because of technology.
