CEIPI Summer School
The Summer School aims at providing a general overview of
intellectual property in the context of the European Union’s
legal system.
 Successfully held since 2009
(9th edition in June / July 2017).
 Unique in Europe and in the world
 Two weeks of as well theoretical as practical training for
both scientific and law backgrounds
 Division into two parts:
1. General stream
2. Specialized stream, during which students opt for a
“Patent path” or a “Trademark and Designs path”
 Lecturers:

CEIPI Executive IP Management Days
The CEIPI Executive IP Management Days consist of
workshops aiming to provide insight into industry specific
aspects of:
 IP strategy development,
 Practical issues in systematic synthetic invention,
 IP protection of perceived customer benefits and
 Sustainable organizational change in companies.
In this unique format best practice case studies from
companies in different industries are introduced:
 Designed for inspired discussions and networking
 Mainly addressed to IP professionals, but also open for
interested graduate students

I3PM
International Institute for IP Management
I3PM is an association of IP Managers dedicated to promoting the
field of IP Management, and thereby to enhance the emergence of
a dynamic IP-driven economy. Most members are MIPLM alumni.
I3PM has almost one hundred members:
 from 22 countries ranging from North America to Asia
 in law practices, consultancies, industry
 representing SMEs to multinationals
The general object of the institution is to:
 organize the professional exchange of ideas between IP experts
 study problems related to IP management and to the profession
of the I3PM members,
 come to conclusions on these problems and
 convey these conclusions to the authorities and other
interested parties as recommendations or opinions or as drafts.

MIPLM Industry Case Studies
The MIPLM Industry Case Study series shows
best practice examples of implementing state of
the art IP management in medium size
enterprises.
All case studies are coauthored by the respective
company’s CTO or head of technology.
The case studies published so far deal with
IP management issues like:
 IP strategy development,
 practical issues in systematic synthetic
invention,
 IP protection of business models and
perceived customer benefits and
 sustainable organizational change in
companies.

EPO - Academic Research Programme
The EPO Academic Research Programme provides
financial support for research projects that set out to
produce empirical evidence with relevant implications
for policymakers and business in Europe
The support is awarded to a limited number of projects
addressing one of the following thematic areas :
 The European patent system's impact on trade and
investment in Europe
 Patent services and intermediaries in Europe
 IP business models and patent valuation methods
 Patents for SMEs and universities in Europe
 Patents and climate change mitigation technologies
 Advanced use of PATSTAT and patent analytics.
