The document provides suggestions for creating a single slide summary of a thesis presentation. It recommends including the key elements of the research, results, and relevant images on the one slide. Alternatively, a quote that encapsulates the thesis could be used. The document humorously advises against making the font too small to fit everything or relying on clipart without offering proper tribute to the Gods of Clipart.
13. Suggestions for your one slide
o You have just one slide to summarise your entire thesis.
o So the obvious thing is to put everything into one slide: Your research, your results, and any images relevant to the thesis.
o Maybe a quote from a famous person that encapsulates your thesis.
“97% of all quotes on the internet are misattributed.” - Albert Einstein
o Just in case the audience missed it, be sure to repeat an important point that you have already mentioned in your slides. Say, dot point #2.
o So the obvious thing is to put everything into one slide: Your research, your results, and any images relevant to the thesis.
o If you can’t fit it all in, just use a smaller font.
o Do you think rhetorical questions are good to pose on a slide like this?
o If you need an image, then find an appropriate piece of clipart. There is approximately ten squidillion individual pieces of clipart on the
internet just waiting to be used. Submit. Clipart is your friend.
o If you don’t use clipart, be sure to leave an offering on the altar to the Gods of Clipart. Otherwise the Gods of Clipart will rage, and your life
will become a torrent of unexpected clipart. You will wake one morning, finding your entire body has been transformed into an amusing stick
figure with an exclamation mark hovering above your head. And we don’t want that now, do we?
o Include a bibliography.

Editor's Notes
I’m clearly not practicing what I’m preaching. My allotted time is 10 minutes, so I intend to use it all.
You have just one slide. So clearly you need to put all of your research onto that one slide.
