to create a comprehensive Bus Rapid Transit
system in order to establish a connection
between Metrorail and the South Miami-Dade
Busway to serve the burgeoning South Dade

7. South Miami-Dade Busway
Now the South Miami-Dade Busway connects
the Dadeland South Metrorail station to 13.5
miles of BRT roadway
The South Miami-Dade Busway serves the
following routes: Busway Max, Busway Local
(Only Phase 1), Coral Reef Max, Saga Bay Max,
and the Route 1 Busway
The Busway Extension serves the Busway
Flyer (SW 152 nd Street – SW 264 th Street) and
Busway Max (Every Busway Station) routes
The South Miami-Dade Busway offers local
and limited-stop service on the Busway and in
the neighborhoods between Florida City and
the Dadeland South Metrorail Station

28 buses an hour travel on the Busway during
morning and evening rush hours running
approximately every 2 minutes
A trip from SW 244 th Street to Dadeland South
can take as little as 35 minutes
Busway fares are $1.50 and passengers can
request a free transfer to Metrorail when
boarding

To shorten the construction period of the two projects and to avoid building over new roadway and landscaping the various government agencies such as FDOT, MDT, Miami-Dade County, and Public Works decided to build the two projects at one time.
