3. 1. Look • Check the wine’s
color, opacity, and
viscosity!
• This shouldn’t take
more than 5 seconds

4. 2. Smell
• Specify from there!
• The primary smell of
wine comes from the
grape,!
• The secondary smell
comes from the
winemaking process!
• Tertiary smell comes
from aging
• When you start smelling
wine, go from big to small !
• Start with broad categories
of fruit

5. 3. Taste
• All wines are going to
have at least some
sour taste!
• Some wines are
known for other
unique tastes!
• You can also perceive
the “texture” and
“length” of a wine’s
taste

6. 4. Think
• Was the wine
balanced, or not
balanced? !
• Was it unique? !
• Did any
characteristics
stand out to you? !
• Did you like it?
