1. PDHPE Rationale
As the need for a healthy lifestyle has greatly become an essential goal for
our society, PDHPE leads a fundamental role in primary school education as
it teaches children the importance of healthy life choices which lead to
healthy relationships and healthy lives, physically and, mentally.

2. Valuing of Self & Others
PDHPE teaches students to value and respect
themselves as well as others, giving children the
abilities to:
• build and maintain strong relationships.
• make considered decisions and appropriately express and identify
emotions and feelings.
• Communicate effectively, adapt well to change and work cooperatively.

3. Staying Active
PDHPE teaches students how and why it is important to be
physically active, providing children with knowledge that:
• promotes a healthy lifestyle highly inclusive of physical activity.
• develops and maintains the health of our children, including bones,
hearts, psychological health and controlling obesity.
• teaches the values and benefits of an active life style
• enhances self-esteem.
• provides children with healthy habits that can potentially carry through to
adult hood, ensuring a healthy life style for our children.
