1. 4. How did you use new
media technologies in the
construction and
research, planning and
evaluation stages?
2. When planning our soap trailer we knew we would have to do lots of
research in order to make sure we all new the codes and conventions of
soaps.
You tube played an important
part of our research as we used it
to watch trailers of different
soaps including Hollyoaks,
eastenders, corronation street
etc. This allowed us to gain ideas
of what we could include in our
trailers. We also used YouTube
to watch some previous soap
trailers made by pupils from
different schools. This helped us
in seeing what works and what
doesn’t
3. Wordpress is a free and easy to use blogging website which is wear we
blogged about our soap Holloway Halls.
In WordPress you can embed videos,
powerpoints etc. For example this
evaluative question has been created
on powerpoint and then improted into
slideshare in order to be put on the
blog.
WordPress also allowed my group to get feedback from our
teacher, which made it easier to improve on our posts. We could
also receive feedback from others for example in our audience
feedback on the first draft.This helped us to make improvements to
our trailer.
4. We used Photo Plus to created our print work, which included a magazine
cover and an advertising poster.
We also created our e4 banner here, which we used in our trailer and our
poster. PhotoPlus allowed us to create layers on which we could edit different
aspects. Here are the items we created on PhotoPlus:
5. We used a programme called Adobe Premiere Elements. This is
where we created our trailer. Premiere allowed me to edit our
footage and also music. It allowed transitions between footage
and effects to be put on footage, For example we darkened the
party scene footage to make it seem more realistic in being at
night as when we shot it, it was during the day.
Using premiere made it easy to be able to film lots of different
footage and then be able to put it together in a smooth way,
making cuts where needed. This was also important in our music
as the track we used was 4 minutes long and our trailer was only
1 minute long so we had to cut the music right down whilst still
making sure it fit in with the footage. The multiple tracklayers
helped in being able to edit both footage and music together.
Although I found editing quite challenging at times I did really
enjoy it and I like experimenting with getting the cuts right and
putting different footage together.
6. During my evaluation I have tried to use a variety of technology. I
have used links to other websites and other posts in my blog,
Slideshare has also been used which allows PowerPoint's to be
embedded into Wordpress. As a group we created a video as an
answer to Question 3. I also used Microsoft word to create
answers which I could then copy into word press and then add
images and links . Vimeo was also used when uploading our final
piece which was also able to be embed in our blog.
We also created a Group page
using the social network site
Facebook. Here we were able to
communicate with each other
about when we are meeting up and
any issues or ideas we had.
We also created a group message on our phones and
here we were able to have conversations with each other
about anything we needed to talk about.
