2. We were given a time frame of about roughly two weeks, to
come with a theme and storyline for our preliminary task. In
the first week, as a group we mainly planned what we was
going do, by brainstorming different ideas as a spider
diagram. This helped us to come with an idea of what theme
we could use in our production as well as what characters we
would need and where the production would be located. We
was allowed up to four people in a group, so my group was
four people including myself. In the second week, we spent
most of our time filming together and putting our storyline
that we came up with, into action.
How Well Did You Plan Your Production
and What Methods Did You Use?
3. My group didn’t really have a specific theme for our
production. However, we did sit together and actually
discuss and brainstorm different storyline ideas that we
could possibly use. The storyline of our production is
just your average day in college of two friends meeting
and going to lesson together. If we had to pick a theme
then our would fit into reality. We tried to keep our
storyline simple, as our previous original idea, was a bit
too dramatic and was proving to be quite complicated
to film, as the storyline was a little bit complex.
What Influenced Your Choice of
Theme?
4. Sitting down together to brainstorm our ideas was
quite an effective method because, it allowed every
person in the group to contribute their own individual
ideas and have their say on things. Another reason why
this method was effective was because not only did it
let us map out our different ideas, but it also let us take
different parts of each other’s ideas and put them all
together to make one storyline or concept.
Was This an Effective Method?
5. Our original proposal initially seemed not too complicated.
However, once we put it into practice, it appeared to be a lot
more complex than we thought it would be and therefore we
decided that it would be better if we just changed our
storyline to something not as challenging. Another issue with
our original proposal was that, it couldn’t have been filmed
completely during the time frame we had. We wouldn’t have
had enough time.
Our original idea was in the genre of drama and it was the
idea of a young woman in an abusive relationship, trying to
leave. Whereas our new idea was more of the reality genre.

Original proposal?
6. Camera composition is what is currently in the view of
the camera lens and being captured. Such as a close up
shot, a long shot and a wide shot.
Movement is the effect that panning and filming have
on the shots.

Lighting and colour
Positioning of characters/objects within the frame

8. Diegetic sound is sound that has an origin point that is
visible on screen, such as character voices. Another
term for this would be actual sound.
Non-diegetic sound is sound added afterwards such as
narrative voice or sound effects. Another term for this
would be commentary sound.
