1. A Presentation On Indreni Organic Farm
In association with Rainbow Children Home Nepal
2. The landscape of Nepal comprises high
Himalayas in the North, evergreen hills and
valleys in the middle and plains in the South.
The range of temperature from extreme hot to
cold and the difference in climate in
accordance with the landscape itself enriches
the lands with a large bio diversity of flora and
fauna.
Nepal
A South Asian country
geographically landlocked
between India and China

Population 27.80 million (est.)
GNI per capita income $730.
One of the Least Developed
countries

Population below international
poverty line of US$1.25 per day

3. Why Poverty? Why Agriculture?
Nepal has a long history of political struggle. During the 19th century only the
ruling class were allowed to go school and the years that followed witnessed a
number of rebellion resulting in a series of revolutions that have frequent
change of the system of governance, the last revolution that was still on a
decade ago. But lately Nepal’s been speeding its development and the people
have long been waiting for a constitution finally being drafted by the
representatives from public.
Without any ores or crude oil for extraction and export, Agriculture remains the
backbone of Nepalese economy. With 66 per cent of the economically active
population engaged in agriculture, it makes 39 percent contribution GDP while
13 percent to the total foreign trade of the country. Also without skills to impact
the international market Tourism and Agriculture have undisputedly been
regarded as the only sectors that can shift Nepal to its economic prosperity. In
spite of cultivable land, opportunities for irrigation and favorable climate
challenges such as lack of capital, unfavorable political circumstances and
youth migration abroad has left agriculture without making the expected
impact.
4. The Present
It is an instinctive awareness that human civilization is expanding exponentially in numbers
and transforming thoughts and dreams into reality with ever advancing technologies while the
impact it has done on Earth over the centuries is undoubtedly turning the favors of survival
against us in the form of global warming, extreme climate changes, natural calamities like
floods, landslides and erosion. Be it Karma, Newton’s third law or the effect of human
carelessness we’ve made such an impact to the environment that its not only us the
humans that have been affected but also all other species that have the right of existence
granted by existence itself.
Additionally, together with the increasing population across the world there is significant
increase in the food demands while the supply apparently doesn’t behave likewise and thus
we have the inflation skyrocketing each year. In order to compensate, the traditional farming
methods have been taken over by profits oriented commercial farming with the use of
harmful chemical fertilizers and poisonous pesticides and insecticides. The native organic
methods used all around the world are now vanishing.
We intend to practice all-organic methods for cultivation and bring back the native methods
applied all over the world with small internal systems that support each other, also known as
permaculture. Considering the boundaries of our climate and environment we will integrate
eco-friendly methods applying permaculture and produce organic foods.

Challenges
1. Lack of Capital
With Ciden, a spanish organization also supporting the project with $23000, the
activities are speeding up but the quantity of grass production is predicted to support only 30
goats in total which will results in low production.
2. Rural location
12 km off-road +
25 minutes uphill walk
3. Transportation
All materials have to be carried, no roads for vehicle around the end.
High expenditure in transportation since we don’t own any vehicle.
13. Scope of Expansions
1. Agriculture
The climate and the landscape is favorable for agriculture in Nepal. The nearby
semi-cultivated (half a year cultivated) lands if available in agreement, the project could
input more with agriculture.
2. Homestay and Tourism
Together with Ciden, we plan to implement a homestay project where people could stay at
villages nearby the farm and still volunteer at the farm during the day. This prospect can
benefit not just the community but also open up tourism prospect in the villages nearby.

3. Handicraft
With 4 years of continuous operation facilitating deprived women with trainings and
income opportunities, we are more than keen to extend the handicraft project for women
in the rural areas. Women in rural areas rarely have jobs to find except cultivating what
belongs to them. It could provide them with new skill development opportunities and earn
an extra income during time they aren’t involved with agriculture. Find more about
