As one of the fastest growing sectors today, the
Fintech industry is expected to expand even
more in 2017.
Shaped by computer programs and other
technology used to support/ enable banking and
financial services, it is understandable why
Fintech is becoming increasingly popular with
businesses worldwide, who are looking to
manage their money more efficiently.

The Global Value of Fintech
It’s worth looking at a few statistics, before we begin:
In 2013, the global value of fintech was estimated by ‘Statistics’
at approximately £3 billion. By 2014, fintech firms had already
attraction £12 billion of investment. And by 2015, that figure had
risen to over £20 billion, globally.
As we move on into 2017, fintech disruption continues to grow.

Leaders of the Fintech Industry
I have compiled a list of 20 of the top ‘movers and shakers’ in
FinTech, through no external sources or input.
In my opinion, the next 20 professionals are going to making a
huge impact in this industry, over the next few years. I’ve
provided you with a brief of their bio, as well as links to their
social media accounts- there’s great value involved, in following
these leaders.

1. MATTEO RIZZI
Financial News has nominated Matteo as one of the ‘40 most
influential FinTech executives in Europe’ (for 3 years, 2014-
2016).
Matteo has been engaged in the FinTech industry for over 20 years
and has deep connections with global banks executives, start-ups and
investors.
Founder of swiftcommunity.net, (2007) Matteo has covered various activities in sales and global
account relationship.
In 2008, he co-founded Innotribe, where he launced the Innotribe Startup Challenge (the 1st
global challenge for FinTech entrepreneurs). Most recently, Matteo created and co-founded
www.FinTechStage.com – a platform for investors and innovators in the FinTech industry.
Since 2015, Matteo has been a Senior Advisor for Omidyar Network. He has a University degree
in Computer Science and a Postgraduate in Financial Transactions.

2. MARKOS ZACHARIADIS
Markos Zachariadis is Assistant Professor of Information Systems &
Management at Warwick Business School and a FinTech Research
Fellow at the Cambridge Centre for Digital Innovation (CDI), University
of Cambridge. His research has been published in top academic
journals such as MIS Quarterly and Business History.
Markos has also been awarded the NET Institution Award for his study on the economics of
payment networks, and is the co-author of The Society for WorldWide Interbank Financial
Telecommunication.
He has been invited to present his findings to various international conferences and organisations
(Bank of England, Microsoft, SWIFT, etc) and has shared his work with Bloomberg, Fortune
Magazine, and BBC Radio.
Markos’s research interests include: economics of technology, date information, and knowledge

3. DEVIE MOHAN
Heavily involved in the FinTech industry, Devie Mohan is the co-founder and
CEO of Burnmark (a fintech research company created in partnership with
FinLeap).
Devie Mohan is also an influential writer, speaker, and commentator on FinTech. She has been listed
as ‘top 10 FinTech influencer’ by several groups.
She has helped a number of banks, FinTech start-ups, innovations groups and investors understand
the current trends in the FinTech industry- by setting up their corporate, marketing, and
investment strategies.
Devie has received a number of accolades and titles over the years, including: Silicon’s Republic’s
‘31 Women Strengthening the Connection Between Finance and Technology’, ‘7th Most Influential
Person in FinTech (UK)’ by CityAm, and BBVA’s ‘Ten

4. SUE MCLEAN
LEGAL 500 (a guide to the UK’s leading law firms) describes Sue as
‘knowledgeable, professional, and commercially astute’.
She specialises in commercial technology matters including outsourcing,
technology procurement, development and licensing, m/e-commerce, cloud
computing, blockchain and FinTech, and is the founder and chair of ‘MoFo
Women’.
Sue is currently leading Morrison Foerster’s (Mofo’s) social media and FinTech practices in London
and is a member of the firm’s global blockchain/ smart contract task force. She regularly writes
about new technologies and trends such as blockchain, big data, wearable tech, the sharing
economy, FinTech, and cyber security.
In 2014, Sue was nominated as a Rising Star in IP at the Euromoney in 2014 European Women in
Business Law Awards. In 2015, Sue was named as one of the Innovative Finance’s leading in UK’s
FinTech sector and shortlisted for the Women in the City
Future Leader Award 2015.

5. LOUISE BEAUMONT
Louise Beaumont is currently Board Member of Funding Options,
Brace Club, Verifeye Media, the CEO of Vector Associates Ltd, and
Vice Chair for TechUK.
Louise is particularly interested in the intersection between technology, financial services and the
public sector. She has worked with blue chips, start-ups and investors to help grow companies
and create value.
As a major contributor in the FinTech industry, Louise has been honoured with the title of
Alternative Commercial Lender of the Year 2014, Supply Chain Finance Provider of the Year 2014,
and Inspirational Entrepreneur by Brummwell Magazine (September 2014).
Most recently, she has been recognised as the Influential Voice in FinTech (by Innovative Finance)
And Power Women in FinTech index (Innotribe, 2015).
Louise has a PhD in Semiotics and Corporate Identity.

6. NEKTARIOS LIOLIOS
Co-founder of the Startupbootcamp FinTech: The company has not
only helped 15 young companies raise a total of $16m , but co-
founder and CEO Nektarios has taken the business model to New York
and Singapore.
What’s more is that applications are open for Startupbootcamp FinTech Mumbai, under way in
Amsterdam, and in its second year in London.
Prior to this, Nektarios was in charge of the Innotribe Startup Challenge (one of the SWIFT
network’s innovation initiatives).
Nektarios is also the co-founder of Rainmaking Innovation and was head of customer
connectivity at Clear stream Banking (Germany).
He has a MA in Political Science, Media Sociology, and
Romance Linguistics.

7. LAWRENCE WINTERMEYER
Lawrence Wintermeyer is CEO of Innovative Finance, the industry
body representing the UK’s FinTech sector.
Lawrence describes himself as being ‘dedicated to growing the Innovative Finance organisation,
to ensure the UK is at the centre of global FinTech innovation’.
He has spent over 20 years as an advisor, executive, and board member to build, grow, optimize,
re-structure and divest companies from start-ups to global brands. As a Big Four advisor, he has
worked with global brands across the financial services, TMT and energy sectors in Europe, Asia
and North America.
His specialists include: board, management and team development, corporate, market and digital
strategy, innovative and accelerated proposition development,
global business development, commercial development and
funding and P&L management.

8. ABDUL HASEEB BASIT
Chief Financial Officer of Innovative Finance, Abdul has been in the
financing industry for over 10 years.
Innovative Finance is an independent membership association that
represents the UK’s global FinTech community.
Innovate Finance is a not-for-profit company that aims to accelerate the country's leading position
in the global financial services sector; by supporting the next era of technology-led financial
services innovators. For both developing start-ups and established industry players.
Prior to working with Innovative Finance, Abdul has been Vice President for Credit Suisse, Financial
Analyst for BNY Mellon, and a Sales and Business Analyst for Incisive Media.
His work has been published in Islamic Finance Today Magazine, titled: Why FinTech is the Future
of Banking, and also in LAP LAMBERT (academic publishing), where he wrote a piece about Islamic
private equity.

9. SUSANNE CHISHTI
Susanne Chishti is the CEO of Fintech Circle, co-editor of The FinTech Book
and The WealthTECH Book. She has been recognised in the European Digital
Financial Services as one of the ‘Power 50’ and selected as one of the top 15
Fintech UK twitter influencers.
Fintech Circle is Europe’s 1st Angel Network, focused on FinTech opportunities and the FinTech
Tours. Both of Susanne’s books (those which are co-edited) have become best sellers within the
financial industry.
Susanne is also a University Lecturer at the Europe Business School for the ‘Certified FinTech
course’, as well as being a mentor, judge, and coach at FinTech events and competitions- Such as
SWIFT Innotribe, Cambridge Judge Business School Accelerator, and FinTech Startup Bootcamp.
With her years of expertise in the industry, Susanne has spoken at conferences in Paris (the
Economist Fintech conference), at Money 2020 Europe (Copenhagen), at Euro Money Block Chain
conference in London, and several more.
She has a number of publications and an MBA (Business Admin)
from Vienna University.

10. CLAIRE COCKERTON
A specialist in tech clusters, innovation services, and start-up eco-systems,
Claire Cockerton is best known as the founder and CEO of Plexal- Europe’s
largest innovation ecosystem and as the founder and CEO of Entiq, a leading
innovation delivery. She has also been listed as no. 26 on 50 of the most
influential women in UK IT 2016, by computerweekly.com.
Claire is also co-creator of Level 39, Europe's largest Technology Accelerator dedicated to FinTech,
retail and smart cities technologies, and has also helped establish the business model for Virgin’s
‘Branson Centre for Entrepreneurship’. She has advised the Guardian Media Group on their ‘Digital
First’ transformation strategy, and founded (and then sold) ‘Aesthetic Earthworks’ a multi-million
dollar architecture firm based in Toronto, Canada.
As well as the above, Claire is an active member for Women in Tech, Tech London Advocates, and
is a member of the Mayor’s London Tech Ambassador

11. DAVID M. BREAR
David M.Brear is a renowned speaker and one of the top FinTech influencers
to follow in 2017. He is the co-founder and CEO at 11:FS and his specialities
include FinTech, digital strategies, digital compliance, mobile banking, and
ecommerce.
11:FS describes themselves as being a specialist team of operators who have built and transformed
banks, they deliver digital research, creative insights, and rapid execution.
David has been immersed in the technology of financial services for several years and is
consistently voted one of the most influential people in banking, insurance and FinTech by banks,
his associates and a number of industry bodies. He has recently launched an investment fund
which will focus on bringing clarity to banks with regards to blockchain development.
Prior to 11:FS, David was most recently the Global Director of Digital Banking in Gartner with
senior roles, and before that at Lloyds Banking Group and Aviva.
David has an MSc in Business Management from the University
of East Anglia.

12. JACQUELINE GUICHELAAR
Currently, Jacqueline is chief information officer, infrastructure technology
services at Lloyds banking group- playing a key role in the largest
transformation of its IT function to date.
Jacqueline has gained extensive commercial, management, and leadership experience in the
Technology industry. In addition she has held roles in National Australia Bank, IBM and CSC gaining
experience across industries such as financial services, utilities, telecommunications, media and
retail.
Prior to her current role at Lloyds bank, Jacqueline was most recently the head of transformation
within the chief technology office at Deutsche Bank.
She is actively involved in many non-profit organisations and is also an active board member of the
Centre for Anti-Violence Education (CAE). She was the Chair
of the 2012 Women on Wall Street conference.

13. EILEEN BURBIDGE
Eileen is a partner at Passion Capital, the leading early-stage technology
venture capital investment firm in Europe. She brings extensive operational
experience to her investment activities gleaned from business and product
roles at Yahoo, Skype, and Apple. On behalf of Passion, Eileen serves as
board director for DueDil, Digital Shadows, Mondo, VINAYA and other
portfolio companies.
Eileen also serves as the Chair for Tech City UK; in the Prime Minister David Cameron's Business
Advisory Group; as HM Treasury's Special Envoy for FinTech, appointed by the Chancellor George
Osborne; and Tech Ambassador for the Mayor of London Boris Johnson.
She was made an MBE for services to UK Business in June 2015 and holds a BSc Engineering
degree in Computer Science from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Eileen holds a
BSc Engineering degree in Computer Science from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
She is also the co-founder of White Bear Yard (a start-up angel/

14. HUY NGUYEN TRIEU
Recognised as one of the ‘10 Influencers in London Fintech You Need to
Know’ by BoardStudios. Huy is CEO of The Disruptive Group. Ex-MD at Citi.
Writes Disruptive Finance (www.disruptivefinance.co.uk), and is a Fintech
Resident Expert at Oxford University. He is also on the Advisory Boards of
Fintech HK, The Market Mogul and Fintech Connect.
With a comprehensive understanding of Finance and Technology, Huy’s passion lies within building
and growing businesses.
He launched The Disruptive Group in 2016, (an advisory firm and business builder in innovation
and finance), after having built businesses within large investment banks for more than a decade.
Prior to this, he was the co-founder and CEO of a tech company in New York.
Huy is also known for raising $15m as CEO of a tech company, and developing it into a business
with 50 offices in New York and Paris. His background is in
engineering and he has a Masters in Technology and Policy.

15. CHRIS GLEDHILL
Chris Gledhill regularly ranks as the top global FinTech influencer and often
speaks and writes about FinTech, banking, and the future of financial
services. He is the co-founder and CEO of UK Challenger Bank, Secco.
Before Secco, Chris was lead mobile architect and led the disruptive innovation labs at Lloyds
banking group.
He has both a technical and business background in disruptive technologies including blockchain,
AI, API, Big Data, Cryptocurrencies, and Biometrics. He is a regular blogger and a ‘must follow’ for
anyone in the financial sector.
Chris has been rated the no.1 ‘UK FinTech Influencer’ by In the City Am, no.1 on the ‘Blockchain,

16. CLAIRE CALMEJANE
A respected advocate of FinTech, supporter of Trailblazing Women in Tech,
and Director of Innovation at Lloyds Banking Group. Claire is extremely
familiar with the FinTech/ financial sector.
Claire joined Lloyds Banking Group in 2012, serving 28 million customers. She was instrumental in
building LBG’s innovation function and digital people strategy. Prior to this, she has spent 7 years in
management consulting and has also lead the research program on digital transformation at MIT,
Cambridge. Her research paper has been ranked as one of the Top 5 thought leadership pieces
amongst consulting publications.
Claire is an board member at Startupbootcamp, as well as an ambassador responsible for promoting
women in technology at her engineering school EPITA.
She has been honoured as a ‘Rising Star’ in Digital Banking in
Europe and is one of the top 40 Fintech Innovators in Europe.

17. DAN MORGAN
Dan is currently Director of Policy and Regulation at Innovative Finance, an
independent membership based organisation that aims to advance the UK’s
standing as a leader in FinTech.
Before working with Innovative Finance, Dan was a Secretariat at the All-Party Parliamentary Group
on FinTech- this group was set up to raise awareness in Parliament of the growing importance of
financial technology to the UK economy.
Dan was also a Policy Adviser for the Association of British Insurers, and for the British Retail
Consortium.
Dan is a BA graduate from the University of Liverpool and has an MSc in Public Policy and
Management from Birkbeck College, University of London.

18. JESSICA ELLERM
Jessica Ellerm is the Banking Business Development Manager for Tyro
Payments, Australia’s most successful FinTech start-up. She is also a
presenter on the Finance News Network, where she delivers the ASX
sharemarket outlook each Monday to Friday.
Tyro started out specialising in payments in 2009. They now have a full banking license and $100M in
the bank- Jessica has been an integral part in the development of this.
In her 9-5 job, you’ll find Jessica growing a deposit and lending book from scratch via her tech
partnerships with cloud accounting and point of sale software vendors. She is also a regular FinTech
blogger and writers weekly for the Daily FinTech (covering all things small business and FinTech
related). Her articles can also be found at BankNXT.
Jessica is a Chemistry graduate from the University of Sydney.

19. DANIEL LOWTHER
An experienced technology PR consultant, specialising primarily in the
mobile and financial services markets. Daniel is currently the Category
Lead (FinTech and Retail Technology) for Aperture Insights.
Daniel’s specialities are within mobile, financial services, payments, identity and authorisation
technology, as well as the consumer technology.
Aperture Insights (where Daniel’s current role is) is an insight and strategy firm for B2B sales and
marketing leaders, demanding a different perspective. Prior to his role as Category Lead, Daniel was
head of FinTech and associate director for CCgroup, and also as senior account director for the same
company.
Daniel’s skills- within the financing sector- in copywriting,

20. RICHARD BROWN
Formerly founding partner of Santander Innovations, Richard has now
joined Lacuna Solutions: The regtech start-up, using cutting edge techniques
with data and AI to provide solutions for the wholesale banking market.
Richard was originally a chartered accountant and investment banker with extensive experience in
capital markets, corporate finance and derivatives. He has structured a number of strategic and
innovative transactions at Lehman Brothers and Merrill Lynch.
He has also been an associate director at Barclays Capital and vice president at Macquarie Bank. He
has a ‘Financing the Entrepreneurial Business’ certificate from London Business School and is a BA
graduate from the University of East Anglia.
