PdCHA Elders No Cost Maintenance Program helps Cochiti Pueblo seniors
1. PUEBLO de COCHITI HOUSING AUTHORITY
“ELDERS NO COST MAINTENANCE PROGRAM”
Housing Assistance Council’s
Rural Seniors Program
0
April 2014 – Phoenix, AZ
2. The Elder’s No Cost
Maintenance Program
was developed to
address the minor
repair needs of the
elders 62+ in Cochiti
Pueblo, NM.
Due to the rural area
of the community,
the nearest cities are
50 miles or more
away , the elders
must rely on family
members or relatives
to do minor home
repair, in most cases it
does not get done.
3. Due to the distance,
calling a service or
contractor is cost
prohibitive for those
on a fixed income.
Trip charges range
from $75 to $125 and
usually take two trips
along with the cost of
materials/parts and
labor.
The PdCHA has eased
the burden by using
its own workforce to
complete the repairs
or minor renovation
4. Work is complete with the
PdCHA Force Account
crew of 7 (2-Maint.
Technicians and 4-
Laborers). The crew has
over 45 years of
experience working in the
residential construction
and repair field.
Usage of our work crews
eases the burden of
overhead and profit cost
by a contractor. We are
local and can respond
quickly if something fails.
Our cost charged to the
program includes: our
direct cost for labor,
materials and supplies and
mileage only.
