Teaching Experience Rider University, Lawrenceville, NJ
2009 to 2012 Adjunct Instructor: Publication Design
This required class for communication and journalism students consisted of teaching the principles of typography
and design for print media, and also using my experience in the printing industry to complement the academic
curriculum. I instructed the students in basic design principles by using samples from newspapers, magazines,
brochures and menus and in electronic presentations. Additionally they developed an understanding of InDesign
CS5 and used it for all their assignments. By the end of the semester they acquired a critical eye for good design and
created sophisticated projects.
CUNY, Kingsborough Community College
Adjunct Instructor: Computer Art
In these classes I taught students to use QuarkXPress8. The course emphasized the principles of design as well as
typography, font recognition, photo sizing and placement and print terminology. By the end of the term the art
students were designing brochures, menus, book jackets and their own stationery, all conceived using their unique
and creative sensibilities.
