  1. 1. American Revolution

Why did it start? <ul><li>The revolutionary era begin in 1763, after the threats from French to British North America Colonies ended. </li></ul><ul><li>Britain imposed some taxes and laws to the colonies sawing that they should pay a portion of cost so that they can be part of the Empire. </li></ul><ul><li>Colonies lacked elected representation in the English Parliament, so they considered this laws illegitimate and a violation of their rights as Englishmen. </li></ul>

Intensified Conflict <ul><li>1/3 of colonist were Patriots (favor independence) and another 1/3 Loyalists (opposed independence) </li></ul><ul><li>1773 Lord North’s government allowed the British India Company to ship tea directly to the colonies. “ Boston Tea Party ” </li></ul><ul><li>British closed the port and colonists called this act Intolerable acts. </li></ul>
  4. 6. In the fall of 1774. Delegates the colonies demanded that the colonists be generated the full rights of British citizens. In April 1775 British troops arrived. They fought with groups of armed colonists. The American Revolution had begun .

Consequences <ul><li>The American Revolution included a series of broad intellectual and social shifts that occurred in the early American society, such as the new republican ideals that took hold in the American population. </li></ul><ul><li>The American shift to republicanism, as well as the gradually expanding democracy, caused an upheaval of the traditional social hierarchy, and created the ethic that formed the core of American political values. </li></ul>

Effects of American Independence <ul><li>American experience gave encouragement to people who opposed domination by absolute monarchy and privileged classes. </li></ul><ul><li>Adoption of democratic ideas was a landmark in history. </li></ul><ul><li>Democracy is different from democracy today </li></ul>
