  18. 18. 18 Transpharmation transformation. If we don’t transform our businesses, other people will, other pharmacists that may come from other coun- tries, or they may come from within. As pharmacy owners and as leaders in our communities it is time to stake our relevance. I believe that every one of you had a vision of what the pharmacy you were going to own was going to look like when you came out of university, as did I. Is our pharmacy right now what it looked like when we envisaged it? I would say no. But I believe that every one of you deserves the opportunity to build that pharmacy without limits, without boundaries and without the financial constraints that may have held you back until now. I chose pharmacy as my profession because… An exercise for you now. I would love you to spend five minutes on this. Make sure that you are away from the kids, away from the dispensary, and away from any distraction. Grab yourself a cup of coffee, a pen and some paper, and cast your mind back to when you first started in pharmacy. Write down, “I chose phar- macy as my profession because…” List as many reasons as you can think of. Do that now. ................................................................................................... ................................................................................................... ................................................................................................... ................................................................................................... ...................................................................................................
