53. Like-to-Like Upgrade
–Restricted to using licenses for the
purposes for which they were
originally purchased.
–A maximum 25% increase on SWA is
applied in like-to-like upgrades
54. Trade-in to EPiServer 7 Solution
• Through an upgrade to EPiServer 7 CMS,
customers gain access to a whole new way of
working. All the benefits of the new platform
are available, such as multi-channel focus and
re-use of content. Additionally, customers gain
access to Composer-like functionality and
CMO.
• Trade-in allowance is a credit for 80% of the
original purchase price of the licenses involved.
55. Upgrading to Other Solutions
CMS customers wishing to implement solutions
with Social and/or e-Commerce aspects have a
number of choices available, depending on their
current configuration, for example….
• Enterprise CMS to EPiServer 7 Commerce
One-Site Solution
• Enterprise CMS to EPiServer 7 Commerce
Multi-Site Solution
57. Why has the process changed?
• In previous versions of EPiServer CMS and other
products, it has been possible to upgrade directly from
within the license system as long as the customer has
an active and up-to-date software subscription.
• Previously sold as separate products, Composer-like
functionality and A/B testing of pages are included in
EPiServer 7 CMS. Additionally, the change in pricing
means that existing customers must first be converted
to the new license model before an upgrade can be
effected.
59. Contact Us or an EPiServer Partner
We can discuss the most suitable upgrade path for you. In each
case, it will help to have the following information available:
• How many sites are to be upgraded?
• Currently running on how many servers?
• Does the upgrade also involve dev, test and/or load-balanced
environments?
• What are your anticipated new needs as a customer? Additional
servers? Potential new sites in the near future? This will help
determine whether it will be a like-to-like or full upgrade to
EPiServer 7.
• Which licenses do you wish to use in the upgrade?

Customers with an active software subscription may upgrade to a similar configuration in EPiServer 7 CMS. While they obtain the new platform functionality, they do not gain access to the full set of servers/sites in the various solutions offered. Similar restrictions continue to apply to load-balancing licenses, test licenses etc. No upgrade fee is charged at present. In this type of upgrade, customers are still restricted to using licenses for the purposes for which they were purchased, for example a test license may only be used for test purposes etc. This restricts flexibility for the customer.Software subscription is never decreased and is most often higher since EPiServer 7 is a new platform containing multi-products. A maximum 25% increase on SWA is applied in like-to-like upgrades. It is very important that the customer take future needs into consideration though as this particular upgraded solution is not expandable without converting fully to the new license model.
Customers with an active software subscription may trade-in licenses towards a complete EPiServer 7 Solution. Trade-in allowance is a credit for 80% of the original purchase price of the licenses involved.
