Decision Making A Good Decision Maker
'Decision Making' is the "ability to take the right decisions in given situations, to take
responsibility and be accountable for them to understand the consequences of particular courses
of action" (Pettingger 2010). It is an action that occurs in everyday life by every individual
regardless of his or her personal differences. Everyone faces scenarios where decisions have to
make, big or small, a decision still has to be made. Individuals have their own reasoning behind
the decisions they make and it is suitable to their own dilemma, but often groups have to make
decisions together which involves a lot of discussion as well as compromising situations in order
to come to an agreement. Time has allowed the theory of 'decision making' to be researched and
from this various theories have arisen explaining the reasoning and processes behind decisions
being made and this background has allowed a greater understanding of what makes an accurate
decision maker. The purpose of this paper is to compare and contrast on the question of what
exactly makes a good decision maker whilst drawing on ideas from different theorists to further
explain this. The three levels of decision–making behavior, which occur, are in an organizational,
group and individual. There are different types of theoretical models and strategic approaches which
help explain how an organization, group and individuals can be influenced in making their decisions
in the best possible way. This review begins by

Donald Murray The Maker's Eye Summary
Donald Murray provides strong advice on the drafting process in his essay, The Maker's Eye. By
beginning with a boost in confidence, Murray reassures his reader that everyone, even the most
renowned writers have to start somewhere. In explaining what he perceives to be the chronological
order of the writing process, he tells his readers to: "detach themselves from their own pages so they
can apply both their caring and their craft to their own work" (Murray 1). In order to understand how
one's audience perceives a piece, they must remove themselves and be critical. Murray continues by
describing the seven elements one must consider in constructing their first draft: subject, audience,
form, structure, development, dimension, and tone. In tackling

Analyzing The Documentary 'Maker'
The documentary "Maker" presents the audience with many different perspectives about and
different projects regarding the Maker Movement. This documentary begins with the words,
"human beings have been making things for over one billion years." This sentence was so
interesting to me, because of how powerful it is. Human beings have been creating tools and
technology since the first human being existed. Everyday people make things. Without creating
things, human beings would not exist today. One of the projects presented in this documentary that
interested me the most was the Pebble Smartwatch. This project began as an idea by Eric
Migicovsky. He began by making a prototype out of cellphone parts. The actual devices were able to

Making Friends Through Internet Essay
Nowadays, making friends on internet has been popular throughout the world. People search for new
friends, soul mates, or confidants. The internet has become an important tool to connect people with
each other. Since the internet is so convenient, making friends may no longer be a problem. On the
other hand, Internet Friendship may lead to some troubles because some people make get cheated
online. I strongly disagree with the establishment of relationships through internet because I think
friends on internet friends are different from real life friends. No one knows what their purpose is.
From my past experience, the relationship with internet friends does not last long because they often
come and go easily. There are some negative effects...show more content...
Some parents are not aware of dangers of internet that brings to their children particularly making
friends through internet. For example, their children might get cheated with someone else on
internet and their children will not tell what happen to them when they encounter danger.
According to BBC News, a 47 year old man defrauded a 13 year old girl online and asked to meet
face to face. Luckily, the girl's mother found out beforehand or else her daughter might be in danger.
From this news, we can see that there internet friends are not always honest and they are more likely
to consider as un–trustful strangers. Therefore, parents should concern more about their children,
teach them about the dangers of making friends on internet, and avoid them from going out with a
stranger.
With the development of internet, people are able to meet new friends who have the same interest or
hobby through the internet. Although, it is easy to make friends on internet, people do not know
whether the person they are talking to is good or bad. Some people will also spend most of their
time on internet which leads them to less interaction with friends and family. Parents should concern
more about their children while they are meeting new friends on internet. Although the internet
allows people to stay in touch with distant family and friends, I think the negative effects

Disadvantages Of Making Friends Online
Making friends online isn't the best idea. They may not be who they say they are, most of the time
can be miles and miles away, making social interaction skills minimal. Being online so much can
cause people to develop social anxiety. Go outside, go to the mall, make some real friends that can
physically be there for you, and cannot lie about who they really are.
People have the choice to be unknown and even are able to be someone else on the internet.
According to the Magazine Article 'Making Friends Through the Internet, Advantages and
Disadvantages of meeting friends online' In lines 14 through 16 "If you are dealing with someone
who is not forthcoming about their identity, you may not know his or her motive for doing so.".
Based on this text, one may assume that a person hiding their identity may be shady and up to no
good. Even if they are not hiding their "identity" it does not eliminate the fact they may not be that
person they are pretending to be. Why are they hiding it? It could be to protect oneself from identity
theft or because they should not have social media, but, there is always the 'What if.'
Online friends are also preventing ones social skills and social interactions. You cannot talk to
people in real world situations the way you do online, neither can you go out and do things with
people online. All online friends are, are a bunch of words or sound coming from a computer or
phone, tablet etcetera. You cannot physically touch someone online, and if they are close enough,
where you can meet, that's super dangerous, once again, you may think you know them, but you
most definitely do not. For an example, Magazine Article 'Making Friends Through the Internet,
Advantages and Disadvantages of meeting friends online' states in lines 18 through 24, " While
having 'friends on the internet is a great way to find people with common interests, friends who only
exists on a computer screen do not provide the companionship necessary to sustain relationships. If
having internet friends comes at the cost of neglecting offline friends, then it becomes a
disadvantage." This provides proof that it can prevent social activity for a lot of internet users. It
belongs to every person using the internet to make

Essay On Coffee Maker
Coffee makers
Coffee maker is " a machine or percolator " for making cofffee. Similar to other inventios, coffee
maker has a long history. It is believed that the history of coffee maker begin in around 575 AD
when the Turks knew how to brew coffee. After that, many stories relavant to coffee maker remained
unknown during the later period until 1818 when coffee percolator was first invented. Following that,
a range of inventions was continuosly born that marked the glorious history of the coffee maker in
modern times.
Initially, the first deep coffee was created by a device named " a big gun?" in France. At the same
time, the pumping percolator designed by another French inventor was beloved by cowboys,
pioneers and 1950s mom. In 1840, the Napier Vacuum Machine was the first to contrive. No longer

Disadvantages Of Online Learning
Online learning has become more popular in our education system in the past few years. Just take
a look at yourself, we have all preferred taking this English class online over the traditional way of
sitting in the classroom. Online learning has many advantages over the traditional way, yet there
many students who would argue that we learn more by physically sitting in the class and interacting
with each other. In my opinion, each student is different, and they each need to choose their classes
according to their conditions. For the sake of the argument we can compare a student who works
full time, she is married with three kids, yet she decides to pursue her higher education. On the other
hand, we have young student, fresh out of high school, with plenty of time to spare! In the first
example, the student would benefit from saving time by taking online classes.
On the other hand, some people argue that face–to–face learning would benefit the learner because
of the interactions. According to the studies, the chance of getting an answer for your question is
higher in the classroom, compared to the online class. In a classroom, not only you can interact with
your instructor, but also with the other classmates. One of the effective method of...show more

not every student is an early bird, or would be at their greatest mind set during the day. Online
classes give you the option to choose the perfect time that works for you, therefore you would get
the best out of your class. Unlike the traditional classes that do not provide immediate technical
support, online classes give you the option to contact the technical support center via phone or email,
which give you immediate response to resolve the

The Maker's Eye: Revising Your Own Manuscripts
The Maker's Eye: Revising Your Own Manuscripts
Donald M. Murray
Born in Boston, Massachusetts, in 1924, Donald M. Murray taught writing for many years at the
University of New Hampshire, his alma mater. He has served as an editor at Time magazine, and
he won the Pulitzer Prize in 1954 for editorials that appeared in the Boston Globe. Murray's
published works include novels, short stories, poetry, and sourcebooks for teachers of writing, like A
Writer Teaches Writing (1968), The Craft of Revision (1991), and Learning by Teaching (1982), in
which he explores aspects of the writing process. Write to Learn, (6th ed,. 1998), a textbook for
college composition courses, is based on Murray's belief that writers learn to write by writing, by

There are, however, a few writers who do little formal rewriting, primarily because they have the
capacity and experience to create and review a large number of invisible drafts in their minds
before they approach the page. And some writers slowly produce finished pages, performing all the
tasks of revision simultaneously, page by page, rather than draft by draft. But it is still possible to
see the sequence followed by most writers most of the time in rereading their own work.

When students complete a first draft, they consider the job of writing done – and their teachers too
often agree. When professional writers complete a first draft, they usually feel that they are at the
start of the writing process. When a draft is completed, the job of writing can begin. That difference
in attitude is the difference between amateur and professional, inexperience and experience,
journeyman and craftsman. Peter F. Drucker, the prolific business writer, calls his first draft "the
zero draft"–after that he can start counting. Most writers share the feeling that the first draft, and
all of those which follow, are opportunities to discover what they have to say and how best they can
say it. To produce a progression of drafts, each of which says more and says it more clearly, the
writer has to develop a special kind of reading skill. In school we are taught to decode what appears
on the page as finished writing. Writers, however, face a different

Analysis Of ' The Maker 's Eye ' By Donald Murray
Quality and Communication When it comes to critical thinking, reading and writing are two
factors that deal with the critical thinking process. A few key aspects of critical reading and
writing are identifying the tone in ones writing, how to throughly read and annotate a text, and the
revision process. In the essay, "The Maker's Eye", Donald Murray explains how the attitude of a
writer, listening to what readers have to say and how to edit your own writing makes your work
better when critically thinking in college. These aspects of critical thinking, reading and writing
make will keep the reader interested and make the writing easier to translate when read. As a writer
is writing they must critically think of how they want readers to react to their writing. Although the
understanding of the writing might be clear a writer should consider that "the aim of writing is
communication, not just self–expression" (Murray). A reader can not look into the writers head and
understand what they are trying to convey, with that being said, the authors tone in their writing is
a huge factor in critical thinking. Since a piece of writing must have a certain tone "writers must
hear and respect their own voice" (Murray). I struggle with this because I often have a hard time
believing in my own quality of writing. Hearing and respecting your own voice is important
because it can help you improve your own writing. Constructive criticism will also help a writer
create a better piece of

WHY AN ONLINE SCHEDULE MAKER IS THE MOST IMPORTANT TOOL A BUSINESS
SHOULD HAVE Creating effective employee schedules, whether manually or via an online
schedule maker, is an art form that requires an analytical brain, common sense, and a clear
understanding of business goals. Work schedules, or employee schedules, are necessary if work or
tasks are to be completed in a well–organized manner. Effective schedules have time and again been
compared to good motor oil. When they work as they are expected to, good schedules can
actually help businesses to accomplish maximum performance. On the other hand, just like
cheap oil, hopeless schedules can practically drive a business to a halt. When employees come to
the office without an idea on what to do and when to do it, it affects their morale mainly because
they don't have proper schedules to serve their skills and needs and this eventually affects their
productivity and career growth. Generally, a good work schedule can be described as a schedule
that drives employees to the right place, to the right tasks, and at the right time. Without proper
employee scheduling, there will always be conflicts that can create chaos, particularly during peak
hours. A good schedule empowers employees to become more productive and in the same way, a
good schedule empowers a business to deliver only the best to their customers. A proper schedule
also happens to be transparent. This way, employees are not likely to be irritated about particular

The Maker's Eye Summary
In "The Maker's Eye," the author, Donald Murray declares "A piece of writing is never finished.
It is delivered to a deadline, torn out of the typewriter on demand, sent off with a sense of
accomplishment and shame and pride and frustration. If only there were a couple more days, time
for another run at it, perhaps then..."This is to say, writers are often sticklers and critical of
themselves. Even if you have months to submit an assignment, it can feel like it's not enough
because you're always tweaking and trying to do something better. But at some point, a deadline
arises and have to turn in your writing, knowing it's your best work and you've done all you can do!

For one reason or another, I'm never able to get the ideas out of my head and on to paper. I can
literally go hours looking at the computer ready to start my paper, and the ideas will never come to
me. Then, once it is down to the real deal and the deadline around the corner, I stress more trying to
put everything together the last minute. In addition, I'm over critical of myself during the drafting
process. When it comes to letting my thoughts flow more naturally, I get frustrated with myself
when my thoughts are not as organized as I want them to be. In my opinion, my writing process is
ineffective because out of the four writing process steps needed to effectively write an essay, I only
used drafting. I used it to write my first copy of the draft. It might be imperfect, there may be some
grammatical errors, things may be a little out of place – but it's just a rough draft that I can tweak
and edit as I go through the writing process. While developing my drafts, I can change and rework
each one to be precise. Furthermore, drafting could be the most difficult part of the writing process
for many people. For instance, it can be really overwhelming when you have an idea or a topic, but
now you have to gather sources, write an outline of how you want an essay to look and figure out
how to include enough information to meet word count

The Maker 's Eye By Donal Murray
Response
After reading the article, "The Maker's Eye" by Donal Murray, I agree with the author on how
writing isn't a one step process to becoming a strong writer. Murray mentions when writers write
and pause to look at others' point of views, they go back and change their own writing. It's true
when he says that most writers are harsh on themselves. Reflecting upon myself in high school, I
believe that looking at other students' point of views would help me get new ideas because I knew my
writing wasn't the best. For instance, what my tenth grade English teacher did was a "walk through
gallery" which allowed students to read other students' responses towards the assignment and
mention one good and bad part of their work. Therefore, being able to view other styles of writing
caused me to change bits and pieces within my essay.
In addition to reviewing and rewriting, one example that Murray portrays is the lack of motivation
that most students these days have when it comes to writing more than one draft and re–editing or
rewriting. In the article, Murray mentions Peter F. Drucker who stated that his first draft was "the
zero draft." I believe when students hear they have to write multiple drafts, they usually give up by
the end of the first draft. Most of the time, the first draft is where students put down all the ideas they
find or have, however with more drafts students aren't really intrigued in finding more information.
Particularly in elementary school, my teachers made

which permits you to make a commission off of the products and services people who join you

When I think of a top affiliate program, I think of a valuable product. A website in my opinion is
a critical component to making money online. Plus, owning a web page means you own a home
business. In some cases, this may well permit you to have your taxes reduced. One of my favorite
affiliate programs, pays large and permits anyone to join it totally free for a trial period. This is a

High quality programs will offer you a trial period. That way you get to try everything out youself

In the article "The Maker's Eye: Revising Your Own Manuscripts" by Donald M. Murray, it talks
about how writers and authors see and revise their own work. After reading this I saw how time and
discipline play a big role in this task. Murray quotes famous writers, one being Ray Bradbury, the
author of the novel Fahrenheit 451. Murray explains his technique on how he revised his work,
along with many other ways that authors edit their writing. Murray speaks about a prolific business
writer named Peter F. Drucker, Peter states that his first draft to him is really his "zero draft".
After he is done writing this draft, he starts numbering them. I like this idea of having the first
draft be the starting point and everything after this the drafts should be getting closer and closer to
the right one. All the drafts after the "zero draft" are chances to find out what the authors wants to
say and which way is best to have the reader understand it. (Murray) There is always ways to
better explain ideas you want readers to understand, you can get rid of slang in the text and use
specific words to make the idea clearer....show more content...
They cannot depend on others input, they have to able to detach themselves from their writing.
Murray uses Ray Bradbury as an example; apparently Ray puts his work away for a year and then
rereads it as a stranger or at least tries to. "Not many writers have the discipline nor the time to do
this" said Murray. I would agree with both parts, one being writers have to try and read their work
as strangers so they can properly see their writing as a reader would. Second I would agree with
some writers don't have the discipline nor the time to do this, a year is a long time. To try and read
something as a reader and not as the author of the work is difficult and probably

Being An Online Student
Being an online student is never a easy task in today's time because there are so many distractions
in our homes. If it's not the TV blaring in the background, then it is the cell phone ringing; it's the
many notifications appearing everywhere, and most importantly simply just everyday life
problems. This has to be the biggest weakness I have learned about being an online student.
However this is something I have learned how to overcome in the last two years, because without
online classes I would be forced to move away from my job and family to earn a degree. The
Cumberland's however has made the process of earing my degree very easy, and after completing
OREN 120 I am even more prepared for completing my Human Service degree here at UC. This
class has shown me how to navigate through many of the recourses, which are available at UC.
The next thing I have learned is how the layout of the class here at UC operates, and what is
expected from each student. The next thing this class showed me was that I have chosen the
correct degree program because of the career assessment test that was taken earlier in the semester.
Finally after completing this class I now know the path I need to take to reach the career I plan to
have once I have graduated with my bachelor's degree, and my master's degree from University of
the Cumberland's.
All colleges have many resources available to all of its students. Although some school do not offer
these same resources to its online students as

Minecraft is a game where the player uses their imagination to shape the world around them using
the resources they find. In the world everything is shaped like a block or a cube, this includes the
trees, the dirt, the water, the clouds, even the sun, everything. This simple game hasn't even been
released yet but has already sold over one million copies. Minecraft was created by one man,
Markus "Notch" Persson, and this is his story. What makes the story of Minecraft so unique is that
it was created by Notch and only Notch. Notch had a job before Minecraft, working on games for a

The game sells around 10,000 copies per day. It has become a cultural phenomenon and on
January 12, 2011 sales passed the one million mark, but they continued to rise. With popularity
increasing, big name comics like "Penny Arcade" and "Hejibits" discovered the game too and
published comic strips about minecraft, leading to even further sales. Minecraft makes $250,000
a day and continues to do so. On June 13, 2011, Minecraft passed 2.5 million sales. Today Mojang
has 10 employees. Markus Persson, Jens Bergensten, Daniel Kaplan, Junkboy, Jakob Porser, Carl
Manneh, Tobias Mollstam, Aron Neiminen, Daniel Frisk, and Daniel Rosenfeld. These few
people make up the team that continues to work towards Minecraft's future. But with so few
employees things take time. Even though the game has not been officially released, people who
buy the game get a copy of what it is right now as the updates are being pushed out. With such
success Mojang is the target of some heavy criticism from blogs, critics, and even their own fans.
One speculation from fans is that Minecraft will be the company's 1 hit wonder. What happens if it
truly is a one hit wonder? Will the company go down under? Will it be the end of Mojang? Will
they join a publisher in order to stay afloat and lose their title of "indie?" Another speculation
concerns Mojang's next game that has absolutely nothing to do with Minecraft, not even in the same
genre. What if nobody likes the game? What

when there is a discrepancy with the self and the ideal self. Almost everyone experiences

The Maker's Eye: Revising Your Own Manuscripts
Criticising one's own written work can be challenging, but knowing how to do it properly can
make it somewhat easier. In "The Maker's Eye: Revising Your Own Manuscripts," Donald Murray
provides many useful tips on how and why you should always review your work after it has been
completed. He first starts off by stating that, "when a draft is completed, the job of writing can begin"
(pg. 56). What this means to me is that although you have completed your writing piece, you still
have a lot to do in regards to revising, editing, and organizing, if needed.
While writing your drafts, you have to consider the strengths and weaknesses. The strengths
/weaknesses are important because you are able to see what you excel at and what you need to
work on.

While reading this book I found myself making notes on how I disagree with certain topics but I
didn't realize until I was about half way through that there were many good points made. Some of
the good points I did notice can be found in every chapter such as the 40/60 rule that is discussed
in chapter 6. The 40/60 rule is something that all of us have done at one point in our life or
another, an example of this is when you say, "I know I'm to blame for the fire but Jon is the one
who started it." This is just one of many points made in this book that I agree with because
everyone is guilty of blame shifting and confessing that you are wrong. Another good point
brought up in this book is that of wants and needs that is discussed in chapter5 where Sande says
the cause of many conflicts is that the more we want something the more we feel we deserve it
and are entitled to it and this is the basis for many conflicts which involve tangible goods. With
the many good and strong points I found in this book I had a hard time wrapping my mind around
some of the subjects. My biggest problem with this book was the fact that there are a lot of
references where it states that you should obey God and do what he commands. To find out, "What
God commands", you have to refer to the bible, which is a book that was written in a time where
woman had no rights and most of the population was

  • 1. Decision Making A Good Decision Maker 'Decision Making' is the "ability to take the right decisions in given situations, to take responsibility and be accountable for them to understand the consequences of particular courses of action" (Pettingger 2010). It is an action that occurs in everyday life by every individual regardless of his or her personal differences. Everyone faces scenarios where decisions have to make, big or small, a decision still has to be made. Individuals have their own reasoning behind the decisions they make and it is suitable to their own dilemma, but often groups have to make decisions together which involves a lot of discussion as well as compromising situations in order to come to an agreement. Time has allowed the theory of 'decision making' to be researched and from this various theories have arisen explaining the reasoning and processes behind decisions being made and this background has allowed a greater understanding of what makes an accurate decision maker. The purpose of this paper is to compare and contrast on the question of what exactly makes a good decision maker whilst drawing on ideas from different theorists to further explain this. The three levels of decision–making behavior, which occur, are in an organizational, group and individual. There are different types of theoretical models and strategic approaches which help explain how an organization, group and individuals can be influenced in making their decisions in the best possible way. • 2. Donald Murray The Maker's Eye Summary Donald Murray provides strong advice on the drafting process in his essay, The Maker's Eye. By beginning with a boost in confidence, Murray reassures his reader that everyone, even the most renowned writers have to start somewhere. In explaining what he perceives to be the chronological order of the writing process, he tells his readers to: "detach themselves from their own pages so they can apply both their caring and their craft to their own work" (Murray 1). In order to understand how one's audience perceives a piece, they must remove themselves and be critical. Murray continues by describing the seven elements one must consider in constructing their first draft: subject, audience, form, structure, development, dimension, and tone. This documentary begins with the words, "human beings have been making things for over one billion years." This sentence was so interesting to me, because of how powerful it is. Human beings have been creating tools and technology since the first human being existed. Everyday people make things. Without creating things, human beings would not exist today. One of the projects presented in this documentary that interested me the most was the Pebble Smartwatch. This project began as an idea by Eric Migicovsky. He began by making a prototype out of cellphone parts. The actual devices were able to be created Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. Making Friends Through Internet Essay Nowadays, making friends on internet has been popular throughout the world. People search for new friends, soul mates, or confidants. The internet has become an important tool to connect people with each other. Since the internet is so convenient, making friends may no longer be a problem. On the other hand, Internet Friendship may lead to some troubles because some people make get cheated online. I strongly disagree with the establishment of relationships through internet because I think friends on internet friends are different from real life friends. No one knows what their purpose is. From my past experience, the relationship with internet friends does not last long because they often come and go easily. There are some negative effects...show more content... Some parents are not aware of dangers of internet that brings to their children particularly making friends through internet. For example, their children might get cheated with someone else on internet and their children will not tell what happen to them when they encounter danger. According to BBC News, a 47 year old man defrauded a 13 year old girl online and asked to meet face to face. Luckily, the girl's mother found out beforehand or else her daughter might be in danger. From this news, we can see that there internet friends are not always honest and they are more likely to consider as un–trustful strangers. Therefore, parents should concern more about their children, teach them about the dangers of making friends on internet, and avoid them from going out with a stranger. With the development of internet, people are able to meet new friends who have the same interest or hobby through the internet. Although, it is easy to make friends on internet, people do not know whether the person they are talking to is good or bad. Some people will also spend most of their time on internet which leads them to less interaction with friends and family. Parents should concern more about their children while they are meeting new friends on internet. Although the internet allows people to stay in touch with distant family and friends, I think the negative effects Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. Disadvantages Of Making Friends Online Making friends online isn't the best idea. They may not be who they say they are, most of the time can be miles and miles away, making social interaction skills minimal. Being online so much can cause people to develop social anxiety. Go outside, go to the mall, make some real friends that can physically be there for you, and cannot lie about who they really are. People have the choice to be unknown and even are able to be someone else on the internet. According to the Magazine Article 'Making Friends Through the Internet, Advantages and Disadvantages of meeting friends online' In lines 14 through 16 "If you are dealing with someone who is not forthcoming about their identity, you may not know his or her motive for doing so.". Based on this text, one may assume that a person hiding their identity may be shady and up to no good. Even if they are not hiding their "identity" it does not eliminate the fact they may not be that person they are pretending to be. Why are they hiding it? It could be to protect oneself from identity theft or because they should not have social media, but, there is always the 'What if.' Online friends are also preventing ones social skills and social interactions. You cannot talk to people in real world situations the way you do online, neither can you go out and do things with people online. All online friends are, are a bunch of words or sound coming from a computer or phone, tablet etcetera. You cannot physically touch someone online, and if they are close enough, where you can meet, that's super dangerous, once again, you may think you know them, but you most definitely do not. For an example, Magazine Article 'Making Friends Through the Internet, Advantages and Disadvantages of meeting friends online' states in lines 18 through 24, " While having 'friends on the internet is a great way to find people with common interests, friends who only exists on a computer screen do not provide the companionship necessary to sustain relationships. If having internet friends comes at the cost of neglecting offline friends, then it becomes a disadvantage." This provides proof that it can prevent social activity for a lot of internet users. It belongs to every person using the internet to make Get more content on HelpWriting.net

It is believed that the history of coffee maker begin in around 575 AD when the Turks knew how to brew coffee. After that, many stories relavant to coffee maker remained unknown during the later period until 1818 when coffee percolator was first invented. Following that, a range of inventions was continuosly born that marked the glorious history of the coffee maker in modern times. Just take a look at yourself, we have all preferred taking this English class online over the traditional way of sitting in the classroom. Online learning has many advantages over the traditional way, yet there many students who would argue that we learn more by physically sitting in the class and interacting with each other. In my opinion, each student is different, and they each need to choose their classes according to their conditions. For the sake of the argument we can compare a student who works full time, she is married with three kids, yet she decides to pursue her higher education. On the other hand, we have young student, fresh out of high school, with plenty of time to spare! In the first example, the student would benefit from saving time by taking online classes. On the other hand, some people argue that face–to–face learning would benefit the learner because of the interactions. • 8. The Maker's Eye: Revising Your Own Manuscripts The Maker's Eye: Revising Your Own Manuscripts Donald M. Murray Born in Boston, Massachusetts, in 1924, Donald M. Murray taught writing for many years at the University of New Hampshire, his alma mater. He has served as an editor at Time magazine, and he won the Pulitzer Prize in 1954 for editorials that appeared in the Boston Globe. Murray's published works include novels, short stories, poetry, and sourcebooks for teachers of writing, like A Writer Teaches Writing (1968), The Craft of Revision (1991), and Learning by Teaching (1982), in which he explores aspects of the writing process. Write to Learn, (6th ed,. 1998), a textbook for college composition courses, is based on Murray's belief that writers learn to write by writing, by taking...show more content... There are, however, a few writers who do little formal rewriting, primarily because they have the capacity and experience to create and review a large number of invisible drafts in their minds before they approach the page. And some writers slowly produce finished pages, performing all the tasks of revision simultaneously, page by page, rather than draft by draft. But it is still possible to see the sequence followed by most writers most of the time in rereading their own work. 6 7 8 When students complete a first draft, they consider the job of writing done – and their teachers too often agree. When professional writers complete a first draft, they usually feel that they are at the start of the writing process. When a draft is completed, the job of writing can begin. That difference in attitude is the difference between amateur and professional, inexperience and experience, journeyman and craftsman. Peter F. Drucker, the prolific business writer, calls his first draft "the zero draft"–after that he can start counting. Most writers share the feeling that the first draft, and all of those which follow, are opportunities to discover what they have to say and how best they can say it. To produce a progression of drafts, each of which says more and says it more clearly, the writer has to develop a special kind of reading skill. In school we are taught to decode what appears on the page as finished writing. Writers, however, face a different Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 9. Analysis Of ' The Maker 's Eye ' By Donald Murray Quality and Communication When it comes to critical thinking, reading and writing are two factors that deal with the critical thinking process. A few key aspects of critical reading and writing are identifying the tone in ones writing, how to throughly read and annotate a text, and the revision process. In the essay, "The Maker's Eye", Donald Murray explains how the attitude of a writer, listening to what readers have to say and how to edit your own writing makes your work better when critically thinking in college. These aspects of critical thinking, reading and writing make will keep the reader interested and make the writing easier to translate when read. As a writer is writing they must critically think of how they want readers to react to their writing. Although the understanding of the writing might be clear a writer should consider that "the aim of writing is communication, not just self–expression" (Murray). A reader can not look into the writers head and understand what they are trying to convey, with that being said, the authors tone in their writing is a huge factor in critical thinking. Since a piece of writing must have a certain tone "writers must hear and respect their own voice" (Murray). I struggle with this because I often have a hard time believing in my own quality of writing. Hearing and respecting your own voice is important because it can help you improve your own writing. Constructive criticism will also help a writer create a better piece of Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 10. WHY AN ONLINE SCHEDULE MAKER IS THE MOST IMPORTANT TOOL A BUSINESS SHOULD HAVE Creating effective employee schedules, whether manually or via an online schedule maker, is an art form that requires an analytical brain, common sense, and a clear understanding of business goals. Work schedules, or employee schedules, are necessary if work or tasks are to be completed in a well–organized manner. Effective schedules have time and again been compared to good motor oil. When they work as they are expected to, good schedules can actually help businesses to accomplish maximum performance. On the other hand, just like cheap oil, hopeless schedules can practically drive a business to a halt. When employees come to the office without an idea on what to do and when to do it, it affects their morale mainly because they don't have proper schedules to serve their skills and needs and this eventually affects their productivity and career growth. Generally, a good work schedule can be described as a schedule that drives employees to the right place, to the right tasks, and at the right time. Without proper employee scheduling, there will always be conflicts that can create chaos, particularly during peak hours. A good schedule empowers employees to become more productive and in the same way, a good schedule empowers a business to deliver only the best to their customers. A proper schedule also happens to be transparent. This way, employees are not likely to be irritated about particular Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 11. The Maker's Eye Summary In "The Maker's Eye," the author, Donald Murray declares "A piece of writing is never finished. It is delivered to a deadline, torn out of the typewriter on demand, sent off with a sense of accomplishment and shame and pride and frustration. If only there were a couple more days, time for another run at it, perhaps then..."This is to say, writers are often sticklers and critical of themselves. Even if you have months to submit an assignment, it can feel like it's not enough because you're always tweaking and trying to do something better. But at some point, a deadline arises and have to turn in your writing, knowing it's your best work and you've done all you can do! Like me, most of the time that I run out of time trying to make a perfect...show more content... For one reason or another, I'm never able to get the ideas out of my head and on to paper. I can literally go hours looking at the computer ready to start my paper, and the ideas will never come to me. Then, once it is down to the real deal and the deadline around the corner, I stress more trying to put everything together the last minute. In addition, I'm over critical of myself during the drafting process. When it comes to letting my thoughts flow more naturally, I get frustrated with myself when my thoughts are not as organized as I want them to be. In my opinion, my writing process is ineffective because out of the four writing process steps needed to effectively write an essay, I only used drafting. I used it to write my first copy of the draft. It might be imperfect, there may be some grammatical errors, things may be a little out of place – but it's just a rough draft that I can tweak and edit as I go through the writing process. While developing my drafts, I can change and rework each one to be precise. Furthermore, drafting could be the most difficult part of the writing process for many people. For instance, it can be really overwhelming when you have an idea or a topic, but now you have to gather sources, write an outline of how you want an essay to look and figure out how to include enough information to meet word count Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 12. The Maker 's Eye By Donal Murray Response After reading the article, "The Maker's Eye" by Donal Murray, I agree with the author on how writing isn't a one step process to becoming a strong writer. Murray mentions when writers write and pause to look at others' point of views, they go back and change their own writing. It's true when he says that most writers are harsh on themselves. Reflecting upon myself in high school, I believe that looking at other students' point of views would help me get new ideas because I knew my writing wasn't the best. For instance, what my tenth grade English teacher did was a "walk through gallery" which allowed students to read other students' responses towards the assignment and mention one good and bad part of their work. Therefore, being able to view other styles of writing caused me to change bits and pieces within my essay. In addition to reviewing and rewriting, one example that Murray portrays is the lack of motivation that most students these days have when it comes to writing more than one draft and re–editing or rewriting. In the article, Murray mentions Peter F. Drucker who stated that his first draft was "the zero draft." I believe when students hear they have to write multiple drafts, they usually give up by the end of the first draft. Most of the time, the first draft is where students put down all the ideas they find or have, however with more drafts students aren't really intrigued in finding more information. Particularly in elementary school, my teachers made Get more content on HelpWriting.net

A website in my opinion is a critical component to making money online. Plus, owning a web page means you own a home business. In some cases, this may well permit you to have your taxes reduced. One of my favorite affiliate programs, pays large and permits anyone to join it totally free for a trial period. This is a terrific example of a quality affiliate program. After reading this I saw how time and discipline play a big role in this task. Murray quotes famous writers, one being Ray Bradbury, the author of the novel Fahrenheit 451. Murray explains his technique on how he revised his work, along with many other ways that authors edit their writing. Murray speaks about a prolific business writer named Peter F. Drucker, Peter states that his first draft to him is really his "zero draft". After he is done writing this draft, he starts numbering them. I like this idea of having the first draft be the starting point and everything after this the drafts should be getting closer and closer to the right one. All the drafts after the "zero draft" are chances to find out what the authors wants to say and which way is best to have the reader understand it. (Murray) There is always ways to better explain ideas you want readers to understand, you can get rid of slang in the text and use specific words to make the idea clearer....show more content... They cannot depend on others input, they have to able to detach themselves from their writing. Murray uses Ray Bradbury as an example; apparently Ray puts his work away for a year and then rereads it as a stranger or at least tries to. "Not many writers have the discipline nor the time to do this" said Murray. I would agree with both parts, one being writers have to try and read their work as strangers so they can properly see their writing as a reader would. Second I would agree with some writers don't have the discipline nor the time to do this, a year is a long time. To try and read something as a reader and not as the author of the work is difficult and probably Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 16. Being An Online Student Being an online student is never a easy task in today's time because there are so many distractions in our homes. If it's not the TV blaring in the background, then it is the cell phone ringing; it's the many notifications appearing everywhere, and most importantly simply just everyday life problems. This has to be the biggest weakness I have learned about being an online student. However this is something I have learned how to overcome in the last two years, because without online classes I would be forced to move away from my job and family to earn a degree. The Cumberland's however has made the process of earing my degree very easy, and after completing OREN 120 I am even more prepared for completing my Human Service degree here at UC. This class has shown me how to navigate through many of the recourses, which are available at UC. The next thing I have learned is how the layout of the class here at UC operates, and what is expected from each student. The next thing this class showed me was that I have chosen the correct degree program because of the career assessment test that was taken earlier in the semester. Finally after completing this class I now know the path I need to take to reach the career I plan to have once I have graduated with my bachelor's degree, and my master's degree from University of the Cumberland's. All colleges have many resources available to all of its students. Although some school do not offer these same resources to its online students as Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 17. Minecraft Essay Minecraft is a game where the player uses their imagination to shape the world around them using the resources they find. In the world everything is shaped like a block or a cube, this includes the trees, the dirt, the water, the clouds, even the sun, everything. This simple game hasn't even been released yet but has already sold over one million copies. Minecraft was created by one man, Markus "Notch" Persson, and this is his story. What makes the story of Minecraft so unique is that it was created by Notch and only Notch. Notch had a job before Minecraft, working on games for a company. He started to work on Minecraft in his free time but after a giant popularity spike he realized that it could be a hit, so he quit his job and began...show more content... The game sells around 10,000 copies per day. It has become a cultural phenomenon and on January 12, 2011 sales passed the one million mark, but they continued to rise. With popularity increasing, big name comics like "Penny Arcade" and "Hejibits" discovered the game too and published comic strips about minecraft, leading to even further sales. Minecraft makes $250,000 a day and continues to do so. On June 13, 2011, Minecraft passed 2.5 million sales. Today Mojang has 10 employees. Markus Persson, Jens Bergensten, Daniel Kaplan, Junkboy, Jakob Porser, Carl Manneh, Tobias Mollstam, Aron Neiminen, Daniel Frisk, and Daniel Rosenfeld. These few people make up the team that continues to work towards Minecraft's future. But with so few employees things take time. Even though the game has not been officially released, people who buy the game get a copy of what it is right now as the updates are being pushed out. With such success Mojang is the target of some heavy criticism from blogs, critics, and even their own fans. One speculation from fans is that Minecraft will be the company's 1 hit wonder. What happens if it truly is a one hit wonder? Will the company go down under? Will it be the end of Mojang? Will they join a publisher in order to stay afloat and lose their title of "indie?" Another speculation concerns Mojang's next game that has absolutely nothing to do with Minecraft, not even in the same genre. What if nobody likes the game? What Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 18. Congruence Research Papers Incongruence is when an individual's feelings are different from their experience. In other terms, when there is a discrepancy with the self and the ideal self. Almost everyone experiences incongruence and it is rare for individuals to feel congruent in their life. When individual experience incongruence, they use a defense to get out of the frustrating situation. Congruence is defined as authenticity and at times referred to as transparency. A congruent therapist is someone who is honest, real, and is open about many things. It is important to that therapists have congruence because it provides a genuine reality for clients. As clients are provided with this reality, other people are able to see it in themselves. Another positive thing is Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 19. The Maker's Eye: Revising Your Own Manuscripts Criticising one's own written work can be challenging, but knowing how to do it properly can make it somewhat easier. In "The Maker's Eye: Revising Your Own Manuscripts," Donald Murray provides many useful tips on how and why you should always review your work after it has been completed. He first starts off by stating that, "when a draft is completed, the job of writing can begin" (pg. 56). What this means to me is that although you have completed your writing piece, you still have a lot to do in regards to revising, editing, and organizing, if needed. While writing your drafts, you have to consider the strengths and weaknesses. The strengths /weaknesses are important because you are able to see what you excel at and what you need to work on. • 20. The Peace Maker "The Peace Maker" Critical Book Review Ryan Stewart February 6, 2005 CO/BU 4493 A "biblical guide to resolving personal conflict", this, in a nutshell is what "The Peace Maker" is all about. In this critical book review I will be taking topics from the book and giving the reader my personal views on how I either reacted or related to the topics covered. My goal for this paper is to give the reader a non–biased opinion of "The Peace Maker", which was published by Baker Books in June of 2004. To first critique a book you must have some background information on the author himself and why he is qualified to write a book on conflict management through a biblical perspective. Ken Sande is the author of the book as well as being the...show more content... While reading this book I found myself making notes on how I disagree with certain topics but I didn't realize until I was about half way through that there were many good points made. Some of the good points I did notice can be found in every chapter such as the 40/60 rule that is discussed in chapter 6. The 40/60 rule is something that all of us have done at one point in our life or another, an example of this is when you say, "I know I'm to blame for the fire but Jon is the one who started it." This is just one of many points made in this book that I agree with because everyone is guilty of blame shifting and confessing that you are wrong. Another good point brought up in this book is that of wants and needs that is discussed in chapter5 where Sande says the cause of many conflicts is that the more we want something the more we feel we deserve it and are entitled to it and this is the basis for many conflicts which involve tangible goods. With the many good and strong points I found in this book I had a hard time wrapping my mind around some of the subjects. My biggest problem with this book was the fact that there are a lot of references where it states that you should obey God and do what he commands. To find out, "What God commands", you have to refer to the bible, which is a book that was written in a time where woman had no rights and most of the population was Get more content on HelpWriting.net
