For Kyusei Nature farming, the relationship between soil and microbes are very important. Therefore EM technology is essential for KNF because there are many microbes in the soil. So first I would like to explain what is EM. And then I explain the relationship between EM and Kyusei Nature Farming. Because EM is one of the essential factors for Kyusei Nature Farming.
EM means Effective Microoragansims.
EM is produced in 55 countries all over the world. Red character’s countries produce EM. Blue character’s countries use EM.
EM is yellowish or brownish liquid. EM is very safety for human. And pH is under 3.5, so sourer taste.
These microbe lives in EM under co-existence condition.
In the soil there are much amount and many kinds of microbes. It contains pathogenic microbes and also beneficial microbes. But almost all bacteria are opportunistic microbes which wait and see how things go.
If pathogenic microbe active in the soil, neutral microbes follow pathogenic microbe group.
If beneficial microbe active in the soil, neutral group follows beneficial group.
So if farmer always apply EM, Microbe balance is kept under control of beneficial group. In the cultivated soils especially using chemical fertilizer and pesticide is poor biodiversity. So compared to natural soil, it is easy to increase the pathogenic microbes. So applying EM for the soil is easy way to keep the balance for beneficial groups.

And next, I want to explain about case study at each country. First is Thailand. In Thailand APNAN cooperate with Sara Buri Center and EM Kyusei which distribute EM all over Thailand.
In Thailand 90t of EM1 are sold per a month. And most of EM1 are used for agriculture. This is Lychee farm in Thailand.
EM is used in Tsunami victim area in South part of Thailand to reduce foul odor of bead body and sanitation control. EM Kyusei cooperate with Red Cross team. EM was sprayed pond any place of damaged area.
EM is used not only agriculture. EM is used in aqua culture. 1. you can see chine shrimp without antibiotic. 2. Sludge is no muddy smell. Bokashi is applied for feed. EM is launching pond preparation.
APNAN cooperate with Sarvodaya which is big NGO in Sri Lanka. This Ngo distribute EM in Sri Lnka.
1. Tea garden in Sri Lanka. Normaly, only two new leaf is used for tea. However, three leaf available with EM. EM is used in tea factory to reduce contamination. After using EM, tea quality is increased. Price is also increased.
Dumpsite in Vietnam. Firstly, EMAS and bokashi is applied to dumpsite. Waste water is pumped up from bottom of the dumpsite. EMAS is droped on the way. The waste water is recycled for agriculture field.
