Endangered Sea Turtles
Sea turtles are becoming more and more endangered as time goes on and is something that really
needs to be changed. There are seven species of sea turtle and they are all either endangered or
critically endangered. Millions of sea turtles used to inhabit the sea now only a fraction of them are
still around. Humans are partly the cause of this because we hunt them for food and profit. It is
unbelievable that people can kill such beautiful creatures just for their personal benefit. Humans are
not the only reason sea turtles are facing extinction, but we are the main reason. Humans really
should not be part of the problem in the first place. Sea turtles face a lot of life or death obstacles
from the second they are born. Even...show more content...
This simply has to do with people throwing away their trash in a place that it should not be
thrown. Thousands of sea turtles would be saved every year if everyone would just so the right
thing and put their trash in a recycle can or trash can. Sea turtles have been killed eating or getting
tangled in a variety of human trash and debris. In particular trash bags kill sea turtles because they
can not tell the difference between jellyfish and the white plastic bag. The large leatherback in
particular can not tell the difference and sadly dies frequently from this.
Sea turtle hatchlings are now having trouble finding their way to the sea because of all the lights
from buildings that are built on the coast. They get disoriented when they are born and will
wander in the wrong way away from the sea. This leads them to predators that live inland or will
even cause the turtle to become dehydrated and die. Humans are also building coastal armoring
that is blocking female turtles from reaching a suitable nesting habitat. This is a severe problem in
Florida where they have many coastal rock elevations and sand bags. Where all this beach
development is occurring thousands of sea turtles are trying to nest. Beach dredging is also having a
direct effect on sea turtle's trying to nest. If the sand is too impacted or is drastically different from
native beach sediment, the mother will have trouble creating the

The Importance Of Endangered Species
Many species are becoming extinct due to environmental issues, pollution, and change in habitats.
When an animal becomes extinct, it means the last of their kind has died many of these beautiful
and ravishing animals that reside in the world may never be seen again. The endangered species
that are still living do not have much of a future if something is not done about it. Humans are not
the only ones on the planet and as the human population goes up another species has been wiped out
of existence humans can fix what they started. Endangered animals is a topic that is overlooked and
needs to be addressed it needs humans full attention because they are the ones that can truly make a
change.
Animals that are endangered will be categorized on a sort of chart to see how much of their species
still lives. Endangered animals acquire many levels of extinction: near threatened, vulnerable,
endangered, critically endangered, and extinct in the wild ("nat geo"). The requirements for an
animal to be endangered and on the Red List is decided by the Conservation of Nature where a
huge portion of its population has been wiped out (Bove). The list consists of animals like grizzly
bears, bald eagles, and gray wolves. The IUCN predicts that body size and geographic range size are
important predictors of extinction risk. The endangered animals on the list still have hope of getting
off that list and repopulate their species they just need the help from humans also.
There are many causes that

Essay on Endangered Species
Endangerment is a broad issue, one that involves the animals as well as the environments where
they live and interact with one another. In order to solve or even slightly elevate this problem,
every aspect must be studied. So exactly what could cause the endangerment of animals? There are
several factors of which only a few will be discussed.
One of the main aspects is that of habitat destruction. Of course our planet is continually changing,
causing habitats to be altered and modified, but these tend to happen at a gradual pace. This allows
most species to adapt to the changing environment, where only a slight impact may take place.
However, when changes occur at a fast pace, there is little or no time for...show more content...
Due to this moratorium, some whale species, such as the Grey whale, have made a remarkable
comeback, while others still remain endangered (Reichhardt p. 322).
Disease, pollution, and limited distribution are more factors that threaten various plant and animal
species. If a species does not have the natural genetic protection against particular pathogens, an
introduced disease can have severe effects on that specie. For example, rabies and canine distemper
viruses are presently destroying carnivore populations in East Africa (Campbell). Domestic animals
often transmit the diseases that affect wild populations; demonstrating again how human activities
lie at the root of most causes of endangerment. Pollution has seriously affected multiple terrestrial
and aquatic species, and limited distributions are frequently a consequence of other threats;
populations confined to few small areas due to of habitat loss, for example, may be disastrously
affected by random factors.
The benefits of saving endangered species are great in numbers. Many plants and animals hold
medicinal, agricultural, commercial and recreational values. They must all be protected and saved so
that future generations can experience their presence and value.
Plants and animals are responsibly for a variety of useful medications. In fact about forty percent of

Speech On Endangered Animals
Millions of animal species are endangered because people kill animals, people do not take time to
care for them, and people do not understand the meaning of endangered animals. Animals cannot do
anything about what happened to them, because studies show that animals do not understand what
humans do. Since the animals do not understand what is going on people need to help them out, and
support how they react to the economy. Throughout history, animals are becoming more endangered
as the years go on, because of how people treat their economy and how they treat the species around
their area. The problem with this society is that people would rather go on with their days than use
ten minutes to help save an animals life.
There are many endangered...show more content...
People really need to start protecting every kind of species, people also need to find places for them
to safely live. The main causes of animals becoming endangered is the people, habitat loss, and
environment change. If people just took time out of the day, people could easily donated money to
care centers for these animals. Even though animals do not seem important, they should be our
number one concern in the world, because without them what is the point in the

Endangered Insects
The term "endangered" is used to describe a species that is at a serious risk of extinction. The
amount of species that are considered at risk is continuously increasing. Because of pollution and/or
global warming, multiple different species have become, and are becoming, endangered; thus also
causing issues in their environments. The purpose of this essay is to shed light on the current
situation of endangered insects. It will be focusing on bumblebees and Hine's emerald dragonflies in
particular.
As small as they seem, bees are a crucial factor in human life. This is because of the simple fact that
bees pollinate our plants. Bumblebees, in particular, pollinate from spring to lateā€“fall. Many plants
cannot produce food without insect pollination, such tomatoes, cranberries, and peppers. The bee
population is extremely important because no bees means no food. Yet, within recent years, several
bee species have been officially added to the US endangered species list. Their decreased numbers
are due to multiple factors; such as climate change, pesticide use, and disease. "Bees are dying out
at the southern end of their range because of the rise of extreme heat waves."[1] For many other
species, as climate changes, they move. However, bumblebees are not doing the same. "Many North
American and European bumblebees are failing to track warming by colonizing new northern
habitats."[2] Thus, the bees are simply disappearing from southern areas. Besides climate

Persuasive Speech On Endangered Animals
Animals are slowly dying off and if we don't do something, we could lose them forever. Extinction
is a well known thing in our world today. Many animals are endangered, meaning they are close to
going extinct. Some common endangered animals are, polar bears, blue whales, and penguins, to
name a few. While some of the animals that are endangered are not of use to us, many are. And
just because an animal isn't of use to us, doesn't mean we shouldn't save it, because we are the
main reason they are endangered. Lots of animals are endangered and we aren't doing enough to
help them stay alive, because of this we need to bring awareness to more people about the issue, and
do more as individuals to help the cause.
Entire species going extinct is a well known thing in our world, and species being endangered is
not a rare occurrence. But this needs to change. There are so many species that are endangered, the
list goes on and on. And the main reason they are endangered is because of us. We are cutting
down the forests they live in, and polluting the air with gas from our cars. This leads to warming the
earth, which leads to melting ice, and lots of other places where many endangered species live. We
are working to save animals, but since there are so many endangered animals we are picking and
choosing our favorites, or the ones that are most useful to us. But shouldn't we be trying to save
them all? The answer is yes, because they all play a part in our ecosystem, and they are are living
things. One day, maybe your great, great, great, great, grandkids will wonder what it was like to
have polar bears around, or penguins, or pandas! Imagine if we could make it so they never have to
wonder, because they already know? Yes there are many things happening to make this stop, but
there are also not enough things happening to make it stop.
There are many things we can do to help this problem. For starters, bringing awareness to the cause,
and telling people how they can help. The simplest thing that people can do is donate money to help
the organizations helping the animals, and save energy by using solar panels, biodiesel, and other
things like that. You can also make your home wildlife friendly. Simple things that don't

Rhetorical Analysis Essay On Endangered Animals
It is kind of ironic that in the picture above some low brow European wanted and bought an illegally
poached Hippo tooth that has a sculpture of other endangered animals who are on the path to
extinction because the buyer thought these animals are majestic and beautiful. So I assume he
thought "What the hell lets kill one so I can show the world how much I love

Why Are Animals Endangered Animals
Why are animals being endangered? Endangered species are any species that's threatened; their
numbers of is being decreased and have the danger of getting extinct. A threatened animal is likely to
become endangered in the upcoming future. There are many causes of animal endangerment some
reasons are, habitat loss that is mainly caused by natural disasters, the introduction of new species,
pollution, and overconsumption. Also, humans play a major role in animal's endangerment.
Habitat loss is one of the main reasons why animals get endanger or threaten; it is caused mainly by
phenomena such as floods, hurricanes, thunderstorms, earthquakes, and fire. During natural
disasters, a lot of animals get killed, lose their homes, which cause them to migrate to another
environment, which might not be suitable for them and affect their wellā€“being that leads to their
death. For example, the desert is not just an enormous empty piece of land; it is the shelter of many
unique organisms such Desert Tortoise, that are found in theMojave Desert in the United States, and
in the Sonoran Desert. Desert Tortoise is now considered...show more content...
They might carry diseases that the animals that are living in that field might get affected by because
their immune system isn't strong enough to fight it, or immune to it. They can fight with the native
species over food, which might cause a lack of an essential resource they require to stay alive. The
resource shortage can lead them to turn violent and prey on weak defenseless animals. Organisms
that are located on islands have a higher risk of getting affected and eliminated by the exotic
creatures. Hawaii is the most island suffering from the alien

Endangered Animals Essay
"Small things can make a big difference" is a worldwide famous saying, which has been passed on
for generations, and although can be thought of in many positive ways, also applies to major
problems, such as endangered animals. After digging deeper into this topic, I noticed that one
endangered animal can (to some extent) change the lifestyle of humans, the population of other
animals, and even the ecosystem, causing a mass domino effect. This helped me realize that
endangered animals were causing many dangers to the species, as well as humans too. I divided my
research into three increasingly threatening effects that have been caused by the endangerment of
animals, disruptions of the food chain, loss of biodiversity, and change to the environment of the
ecosystems affected. As I looked further into the topic, I noticed that the symbiotic relationship with
animals is greatly affected if one gets endangered. One example is the relationship between the
clownfish and sea anemone. In this symbiotic relationship, the sea anemone thickens the protective
layer of mucus to the degree that it is 3 to 4 times thicker than other fish, provides food, and shelter.
In return, the clownfish cleans, fertilizes, and scares away other fish from the sea anemone. If one
animal is suddenly completely diminished in that population, the other animal would be diminished
or endangered as well. This could continue to affect other species that were even faintly connected to
the two animals and

Zoos Are Made To Protect Endangered Animals
Zoos are made to "protect endangered animals" and "provide educational experiences". Animal acts
in circuses are meant to "entertain" and "showcase animals' talents". But these have proven to be
terrible places for wild or exotic animals, providing poor and unnatural living conditions. The best
option to protect and preserve wild animals is by supporting habitat preservation, not captivation and
exploitation. There are many different types of zoos, ranging from small, halfā€“abandoned collections
of animals to huge, seemingly extravagant homes for these wonderful creatures. Most can agree that
small, forā€“profit zoos aren't okay. But what about the big, 'nonā€“profit' zoos? The ones that are
supposedly only meant to help endangered animals? In reality, more than half of zoo animals are
not endangered at all, but instead captive to draw crowds (One Green Planet 2015). As for the
animals that are endangered, zoos tend to only house the popular species, including animals such as
tigers and elephants. Most endangered species are not chosen by zoos because they are not as
popular, so they won't attract as many visitors (One Green Planet 2015). Most zoos also take part
in breeding programs. Since there are a lot of restrictions on catching wild or 'exotic' animals and
it is very expensive to buy them from other sources, zoos choose to breed already owned animals.
This causes a lot of issues, such as loss of natural reproduction practices for the animals and even
miscarriages due to

Animals Many animals go extinct because people think it's okay to keep hunting them until there
are no more of the population left. But it isn't because if people hunt and kill all the species of that
animal, then there would be none left. No elephants no giraffes or no emperor tamarin monkeys.
Zoo's have tried to take in endangered species, but if there isn't any how would they get them? They
couldn't because it would be too late, people would have already killed them all.
Elephants would travel in herds of families, to form a herd it would be from 8ā€“100 individuals.
There are only two different types of species, the Elephas Maximus and the Loxodonta cyclotis
elephants. The Elephas Maximus were Asian and African savanna elephants. The Loxodonta
cyclotis were African forest elephants. Babies would hold onto their moms tails because they
would be trained to do so. People thought it was cute to see that so trainers would train the
elephants to do that. Wild elephants don't walk in that formation or in any order (Bradford).
Elephants have got to be the biggest living land animal in the world. Blue whales weigh a ton more,
but also they are the largest living water animals.
Emperor Tamarin Monkeys are found in the forest of South America and live in groups from
between 2ā€“8 monkeys. They were named after their mustaches, which was thought to resemble
German emperor Wilhelm ll. Due to their small size they are able to move from branch to branch
very quickly. Their prey includes fruit, insects, and rodents. They also have predators which are,
hawks, snakes and wild cats. They have a small body size they are all mostly between 7in.ā€“12in.
Their tails are very long and thin, and most of the time they live to be between 8ā€“15 years. Most of
all they are very playful animals ("Aā€“Z Animals"). They are very tame, playful, and loving animals.
When they are in an area they love to be petted by humans and they would play around with
whoever it is. They are usually in groups of 15 others. The best thing is if you get one as a pet as a
baby you would have to put them in diapers to potty train them just like an actual baby.
Giraffes are the tallest living animal, and they travel in herds of 3ā€“15 animals. They have their long

Humans are destructive. Not a lot of us think about how what we do affects the world around us.
We almost act like we are the only ones on this planet. We go around polluting and destroying our
world with no regard for our actions. The things that live out in the wild are paying the price for it.
Every day that passes there is another animal or plant that is placed on an endangered list. This is
happening at an alarming rate. Because of man's desire to expand and conquer their surroundings,
there are animals and plants that are on the brink of extinction that will not be around for our kids
and future generations to enjoy if something is not done about it now. This problem has been going
on for hundreds of years. There...show more content...
Consider, for example, the case history of the gray wolf (Canis lupus).
The gray wolf is not only one of the most impressive of the large North American mammals it is also
one of the most misunderstood. The history of the gray wolf since the arrival of the European
peoples who indiscriminately displaced both indigenous human populations and indigenous animal
and plant populations has been interlaced with attempts at extermination and, more recently,
conservation. The species was almost reduced to the point of extinction before public sentiment
would sway to the point where it would receive some protection.
First listed as an endangered species in 1973, the gray wolf (thanks to the conservation efforts and
severe legal penalties for harming this species that are attributable to the Endangered Species Act)
is one of the success stories of the Endangered Species Act. With the upswing in the gray wolf
population, however, there has been a consequent increase once again in the same public resentment
which almost obliterated the gray wolf from the face of the earth just a few decades ago. This
resentment, and the loss of habitat which seems to characterize so many indigenous species of the
Americas, translate to a continuation of the rocky road which the gray wolf has traveled for so long.
The plight of the gray wolf can be directly related to the fact that the wolf is considered a threat to
man and livestock alike. Although wolf behavior makes them

Endangered Animals Chapter Summary
Chapter two start off with a story about rhinoceros and the reason behind why black rhinos became
an endangered species. Some examples used in the book show that if a material object draws in a
profit, it is okay, but when they no longer have purpose, then they become expendable. Author
Wheelan illustrates that this has nothing to do with compassion but everything to do with
maximizing the profit of that limited resource. He emphasizes the concept that almost all things in
life boil down to economics. Incentives are the best influences that motivate individuals.
In this chapter, it focuses on Incentives, anything that motivates or encourages someone to do
something.

As the population of us humans grow, more and more environmental problems are developing such
as global warming, pollution, and animal extinction. Unfortunately, endangered species are
threatened by human population as we grow and consume resources at compulsive rate, and
endangered species are most likely to go extinct if we do not take action. From animals, we tend to
consume our sources of protein which means killing animals in order for ourselves to survive. For
example, the fish provides 15 percent of protein consumed by human beings, which puts the Atlantic
bluefin tuna at risk. In addition, increase in human population impacts climate change which is
bringing Polar Bears closer and closer to extinction. Recently, the public and the...show more

By using an alternative to pesticides such as ... can not only protect animals and keep them from
going extinct and it can also protect your family from harmful chemicals. Another way we can
reduce pollution in our environment is to walk or ride your bicycle to work instead driving because
fuel from vehicles pollute the air. We can also save energy by turning the lights off before leaving
the room and turning off the television when it is not being used. Furthermore, this will reduce
emissions from coalā€“fired electricity plants, and also save you money on your electricity bill. Taking
action to reduce pollution in our environment will save endangered animals from going extinct.
Another aspect that puts animals at risk is products made from animals. Every year, millions of
animals are killed for fashion. Animals are harshly treated, trapped, and killed under very
devastating circumstances in order to produce fashion items such as leather boots, fur coats, and
belts. Unfortunately, as consumers, we do not think about the torture animals go through just so
we can wear fashionable clothing. Sheep are sheared for the fur every year and shearing too late
causes a loss of wool. Because of this, sheep are sheared too soon every year and die from premature
shearing. Chiru is an endangered species

Did you know over 50,000 species become extinct each year, that's five to six each hour.
Endangered species are in serious trouble and it is a major problem all around the world. They are
dying quicker than people think and they need help and recognition. Endangered animals need to be
helped soon or they will become extinct. To start off, many many animals are dying and even more
are extinct. Many famous animals that you could name off the top of your head are endangered or
close to extinction. In the WWF's official endangered species list it has a few animals people would
know and their status, it states, "Black Rhino ā€“ Critically endangered, Bengal Tiger ā€“ Endangered,
Blue Whale ā€“ Endangered." These animals are endangered and need to be helped they may not be
in zoos in the future like it was for the present. This could also be a major problem for food chains
because they could become messed up and certain things will start growing at a rapid rate if they
become extinct. Continuing, over 20,000 species are endangered, and we need to figure out which
species we need to prioritize. In the article 20,000 Species Are Near Extinction: Is it Time to
Rethink How We Decide Which to Save?" it states, "Should the condor, which had almost been
wiped out by habitat loss, hunting, and eating carcasses that were poisoned by lead bullets, be left
to die in the wild? Or should scientists take the remaining 22 condors into captivity and breed them,
which would cost millions of dollars?"

other creatures are the "mainstream" endangered animals. People seem to care more about these
animals even though the bluefin tuna is actually in more danger. But, why? Is it because they are
cuter? Nicer? More known? This photo makes me angry. Not only are we the reason that these
animals are going extinct but, we're picking and choosing which ones we care about more. Before
I did some research on this fish, I had no idea what it was. When I looked at the photo I just
thought it was some random fish the WWF was using to get their point across. I'm angry that I
haven't learned about this tuna in my school system and I'm also angry at myself for not trying to

World Wildlife Fund knows that this fish is unknown to most people and uses that. It makes us and
them angry that we don't even know what fish this is but yet we are still hunting and killing them.
The WWf is sending this message so that we will get upset and try to do something about it. This

Endangered Species Essay
How would you feel if some of your favorite animals became extinct? Throughout history animals
have always struggled to survive. In recent years, many studies have shown species are becoming
extinct for different reasons. Some species endangered status are created by competition with other
species, natural disasters, diseases and even human involvement. These endangered species should be
preserved because of the effects it has on other animals, the significance of each animal on the
ecosystem, and because of the role humans take on their endangerment.
Some people might not know what an extinct species is or why it is important that a species
disappears. An extinct species is one that has completely died out; living individuals of this kind no
longer exist. By this definition the death of every individual of that species is considered an
extinction. This is a big issue for an entire species to die out and no longer exist on this planet. And
this is important because, any endangered species is a threat to the natural balance of life on Earth.
Every single organism in an ecosystem depends on each other to survive. All the plants and animals
in the world are connected to each other in the web of life that holds them together. With these
statements people can have a better understanding of this serious situation.
Each species lives in different environments so their endangerment may be cause by different things.
One example is that, " Habitat destruction is a major cause of

The world is facing many serious issues in this day and time. One of the major one is endangered
species. These organisms are living on the edge of extinction. There are many things that threaten
these species like loss of habitat, lack of food, hunting and many more. The victim of this horrendous
crime against living organisms is the fastest running mammal called Cheetah, scientifically known as
"Acinonyx jubatus".
Cheetahs are true carnivores which means they depend on meat for survival. They use high speed to
easily hunt their prey. Primary diet of cheetah consists of springbok, ostriches, impala, deer, gazelles,
warthogs, birds, hares, young zebras etc. These animals tend to target younglings because of the
greater rate of success. And while hunting these species like to stalk their prey for 10ā€“ 50m and then
start sprinting towards it. During this time frame, their bodies are under immense strain and pressure
as a result their body temperature rises to its highest.
These mammals live in the dry grasslands of subā€“ Saharan Africa, and in eastern and southern parks.
Some can also be found in southern Algeria, northern Niger and Iran. Today Namibia has the
largest population of cheetahs living in Africa. It is very hard to believe that these species use to
roam around nearly all of Africa and much of Asia, but now they are driven out of 91% of its
historic range. These animals are nearly extinct in Asia, only around 50 of these individual are

Endangered Species
Many species vital to ensuring that today's environment will thrive are becoming extinct. If a
species is slowly dwindling, and in imminent danger of becoming nonexistent, this species is
considered to be endangered. "One in four mammals, one in eight birds, one third of all amphibians
and 70% of the world's assessed plants on the... IUCN Red List are in jeopardy" (IUCN, 2016).
According to the International Union for Conservation of Nature, or IUCN, upwards of 16,000
species are threatened with extinction, including both plants and animals (IUCN, 2016). Before
becoming endangered, a species will show warning signs, either by starting to lose biological
diversity or by losing the habitats for that species to flourish in, or in the worst case, both. The
word endangered can sometimes be confused with threatened, extirpated, or extinct. Extirpated
refers to the state of a species where its population has died out in a certain area or range, but
other populations of said species still exist elsewhere (Olden, Julian D., 2008). When a species is
considered threatened, or vulnerable, this refers to the state of the species being susceptible to
endangerment and extinction ("Extinction crisis escalates"). So if a species is threatened, the first
signs of endangerment come along, which are similar signs to that of a species in danger of
becoming threatened, including lack of genetic diversity, or overhunting may be evident.

Endangered Animals Essay

  • 1. Endangered Sea Turtles Sea turtles are becoming more and more endangered as time goes on and is something that really needs to be changed. There are seven species of sea turtle and they are all either endangered or critically endangered. Millions of sea turtles used to inhabit the sea now only a fraction of them are still around. Humans are partly the cause of this because we hunt them for food and profit. It is unbelievable that people can kill such beautiful creatures just for their personal benefit. Humans are not the only reason sea turtles are facing extinction, but we are the main reason. Humans really should not be part of the problem in the first place. Sea turtles face a lot of life or death obstacles from the second they are born. Even...show more content... This simply has to do with people throwing away their trash in a place that it should not be thrown. Thousands of sea turtles would be saved every year if everyone would just so the right thing and put their trash in a recycle can or trash can. Sea turtles have been killed eating or getting tangled in a variety of human trash and debris. In particular trash bags kill sea turtles because they can not tell the difference between jellyfish and the white plastic bag. The large leatherback in particular can not tell the difference and sadly dies frequently from this. Sea turtle hatchlings are now having trouble finding their way to the sea because of all the lights from buildings that are built on the coast. They get disoriented when they are born and will wander in the wrong way away from the sea. This leads them to predators that live inland or will even cause the turtle to become dehydrated and die. Humans are also building coastal armoring that is blocking female turtles from reaching a suitable nesting habitat. This is a severe problem in Florida where they have many coastal rock elevations and sand bags. Where all this beach development is occurring thousands of sea turtles are trying to nest. Beach dredging is also having a direct effect on sea turtle's trying to nest. If the sand is too impacted or is drastically different from native beach sediment, the mother will have trouble creating the Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. The Importance Of Endangered Species Many species are becoming extinct due to environmental issues, pollution, and change in habitats. When an animal becomes extinct, it means the last of their kind has died many of these beautiful and ravishing animals that reside in the world may never be seen again. The endangered species that are still living do not have much of a future if something is not done about it. Humans are not the only ones on the planet and as the human population goes up another species has been wiped out of existence humans can fix what they started. Endangered animals is a topic that is overlooked and needs to be addressed it needs humans full attention because they are the ones that can truly make a change. Animals that are endangered will be categorized on a sort of chart to see how much of their species still lives. Endangered animals acquire many levels of extinction: near threatened, vulnerable, endangered, critically endangered, and extinct in the wild ("nat geo"). The requirements for an animal to be endangered and on the Red List is decided by the Conservation of Nature where a huge portion of its population has been wiped out (Bove). The list consists of animals like grizzly bears, bald eagles, and gray wolves. The IUCN predicts that body size and geographic range size are important predictors of extinction risk. The endangered animals on the list still have hope of getting off that list and repopulate their species they just need the help from humans also. There are many causes that Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. Essay on Endangered Species Endangerment is a broad issue, one that involves the animals as well as the environments where they live and interact with one another. In order to solve or even slightly elevate this problem, every aspect must be studied. So exactly what could cause the endangerment of animals? There are several factors of which only a few will be discussed. One of the main aspects is that of habitat destruction. Of course our planet is continually changing, causing habitats to be altered and modified, but these tend to happen at a gradual pace. This allows most species to adapt to the changing environment, where only a slight impact may take place. However, when changes occur at a fast pace, there is little or no time for...show more content... Due to this moratorium, some whale species, such as the Grey whale, have made a remarkable comeback, while others still remain endangered (Reichhardt p. 322). Disease, pollution, and limited distribution are more factors that threaten various plant and animal species. If a species does not have the natural genetic protection against particular pathogens, an introduced disease can have severe effects on that specie. For example, rabies and canine distemper viruses are presently destroying carnivore populations in East Africa (Campbell). Domestic animals often transmit the diseases that affect wild populations; demonstrating again how human activities lie at the root of most causes of endangerment. Pollution has seriously affected multiple terrestrial and aquatic species, and limited distributions are frequently a consequence of other threats; populations confined to few small areas due to of habitat loss, for example, may be disastrously affected by random factors. The benefits of saving endangered species are great in numbers. Many plants and animals hold medicinal, agricultural, commercial and recreational values. They must all be protected and saved so that future generations can experience their presence and value. Plants and animals are responsibly for a variety of useful medications. In fact about forty percent of all prescriptions written Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. Speech On Endangered Animals Millions of animal species are endangered because people kill animals, people do not take time to care for them, and people do not understand the meaning of endangered animals. Animals cannot do anything about what happened to them, because studies show that animals do not understand what humans do. Since the animals do not understand what is going on people need to help them out, and support how they react to the economy. Throughout history, animals are becoming more endangered as the years go on, because of how people treat their economy and how they treat the species around their area. The problem with this society is that people would rather go on with their days than use ten minutes to help save an animals life. There are many endangered...show more content... People really need to start protecting every kind of species, people also need to find places for them to safely live. The main causes of animals becoming endangered is the people, habitat loss, and environment change. If people just took time out of the day, people could easily donated money to care centers for these animals. Even though animals do not seem important, they should be our number one concern in the world, because without them what is the point in the Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. Endangered Animals Endangered Insects The term "endangered" is used to describe a species that is at a serious risk of extinction. The amount of species that are considered at risk is continuously increasing. Because of pollution and/or global warming, multiple different species have become, and are becoming, endangered; thus also causing issues in their environments. The purpose of this essay is to shed light on the current situation of endangered insects. It will be focusing on bumblebees and Hine's emerald dragonflies in particular. As small as they seem, bees are a crucial factor in human life. This is because of the simple fact that bees pollinate our plants. Bumblebees, in particular, pollinate from spring to lateā€“fall. Many plants cannot produce food without insect pollination, such tomatoes, cranberries, and peppers. The bee population is extremely important because no bees means no food. Yet, within recent years, several bee species have been officially added to the US endangered species list. Their decreased numbers are due to multiple factors; such as climate change, pesticide use, and disease. "Bees are dying out at the southern end of their range because of the rise of extreme heat waves."[1] For many other species, as climate changes, they move. However, bumblebees are not doing the same. "Many North American and European bumblebees are failing to track warming by colonizing new northern habitats."[2] Thus, the bees are simply disappearing from southern areas. Besides climate Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 6. Persuasive Speech On Endangered Animals Animals are slowly dying off and if we don't do something, we could lose them forever. Extinction is a well known thing in our world today. Many animals are endangered, meaning they are close to going extinct. Some common endangered animals are, polar bears, blue whales, and penguins, to name a few. While some of the animals that are endangered are not of use to us, many are. And just because an animal isn't of use to us, doesn't mean we shouldn't save it, because we are the main reason they are endangered. Lots of animals are endangered and we aren't doing enough to help them stay alive, because of this we need to bring awareness to more people about the issue, and do more as individuals to help the cause. Entire species going extinct is a well known thing in our world, and species being endangered is not a rare occurrence. But this needs to change. There are so many species that are endangered, the list goes on and on. And the main reason they are endangered is because of us. We are cutting down the forests they live in, and polluting the air with gas from our cars. This leads to warming the earth, which leads to melting ice, and lots of other places where many endangered species live. We are working to save animals, but since there are so many endangered animals we are picking and choosing our favorites, or the ones that are most useful to us. But shouldn't we be trying to save them all? The answer is yes, because they all play a part in our ecosystem, and they are are living things. One day, maybe your great, great, great, great, grandkids will wonder what it was like to have polar bears around, or penguins, or pandas! Imagine if we could make it so they never have to wonder, because they already know? Yes there are many things happening to make this stop, but there are also not enough things happening to make it stop. There are many things we can do to help this problem. For starters, bringing awareness to the cause, and telling people how they can help. The simplest thing that people can do is donate money to help the organizations helping the animals, and save energy by using solar panels, biodiesel, and other things like that. You can also make your home wildlife friendly. Simple things that don't Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 7. Rhetorical Analysis Essay On Endangered Animals It is kind of ironic that in the picture above some low brow European wanted and bought an illegally poached Hippo tooth that has a sculpture of other endangered animals who are on the path to extinction because the buyer thought these animals are majestic and beautiful. So I assume he thought "What the hell lets kill one so I can show the world how much I love Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 8. Why Are Animals Endangered Animals Why are animals being endangered? Endangered species are any species that's threatened; their numbers of is being decreased and have the danger of getting extinct. A threatened animal is likely to become endangered in the upcoming future. There are many causes of animal endangerment some reasons are, habitat loss that is mainly caused by natural disasters, the introduction of new species, pollution, and overconsumption. Also, humans play a major role in animal's endangerment. Habitat loss is one of the main reasons why animals get endanger or threaten; it is caused mainly by phenomena such as floods, hurricanes, thunderstorms, earthquakes, and fire. During natural disasters, a lot of animals get killed, lose their homes, which cause them to migrate to another environment, which might not be suitable for them and affect their wellā€“being that leads to their death. For example, the desert is not just an enormous empty piece of land; it is the shelter of many unique organisms such Desert Tortoise, that are found in theMojave Desert in the United States, and in the Sonoran Desert. Desert Tortoise is now considered...show more content... They might carry diseases that the animals that are living in that field might get affected by because their immune system isn't strong enough to fight it, or immune to it. They can fight with the native species over food, which might cause a lack of an essential resource they require to stay alive. The resource shortage can lead them to turn violent and prey on weak defenseless animals. • 9. Endangered Animals Essay "Small things can make a big difference" is a worldwide famous saying, which has been passed on for generations, and although can be thought of in many positive ways, also applies to major problems, such as endangered animals. After digging deeper into this topic, I noticed that one endangered animal can (to some extent) change the lifestyle of humans, the population of other animals, and even the ecosystem, causing a mass domino effect. This helped me realize that endangered animals were causing many dangers to the species, as well as humans too. I divided my research into three increasingly threatening effects that have been caused by the endangerment of animals, disruptions of the food chain, loss of biodiversity, and change to the environment of the ecosystems affected. As I looked further into the topic, I noticed that the symbiotic relationship with animals is greatly affected if one gets endangered. One example is the relationship between the clownfish and sea anemone. In this symbiotic relationship, the sea anemone thickens the protective layer of mucus to the degree that it is 3 to 4 times thicker than other fish, provides food, and shelter. In return, the clownfish cleans, fertilizes, and scares away other fish from the sea anemone. If one animal is suddenly completely diminished in that population, the other animal would be diminished or endangered as well. This could continue to affect other species that were even faintly connected to the two animals and Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 10. Zoos Are Made To Protect Endangered Animals Zoos are made to "protect endangered animals" and "provide educational experiences". Animal acts in circuses are meant to "entertain" and "showcase animals' talents". But these have proven to be terrible places for wild or exotic animals, providing poor and unnatural living conditions. The best option to protect and preserve wild animals is by supporting habitat preservation, not captivation and exploitation. There are many different types of zoos, ranging from small, halfā€“abandoned collections of animals to huge, seemingly extravagant homes for these wonderful creatures. Most can agree that small, forā€“profit zoos aren't okay. But what about the big, 'nonā€“profit' zoos? The ones that are supposedly only meant to help endangered animals? In reality, more than half of zoo animals are not endangered at all, but instead captive to draw crowds (One Green Planet 2015). As for the animals that are endangered, zoos tend to only house the popular species, including animals such as tigers and elephants. Most endangered species are not chosen by zoos because they are not as popular, so they won't attract as many visitors (One Green Planet 2015). Most zoos also take part in breeding programs. Since there are a lot of restrictions on catching wild or 'exotic' animals and it is very expensive to buy them from other sources, zoos choose to breed already owned animals. This causes a lot of issues, such as loss of natural reproduction practices for the animals and even miscarriages due to Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 11. Persuasive Essay On Endangered Animals Animals Many animals go extinct because people think it's okay to keep hunting them until there are no more of the population left. But it isn't because if people hunt and kill all the species of that animal, then there would be none left. No elephants no giraffes or no emperor tamarin monkeys. Zoo's have tried to take in endangered species, but if there isn't any how would they get them? They couldn't because it would be too late, people would have already killed them all. Elephants would travel in herds of families, to form a herd it would be from 8ā€“100 individuals. There are only two different types of species, the Elephas Maximus and the Loxodonta cyclotis elephants. The Elephas Maximus were Asian and African savanna elephants. The Loxodonta cyclotis were African forest elephants. Babies would hold onto their moms tails because they would be trained to do so. People thought it was cute to see that so trainers would train the elephants to do that. Wild elephants don't walk in that formation or in any order (Bradford). Elephants have got to be the biggest living land animal in the world. Blue whales weigh a ton more, but also they are the largest living water animals. Emperor Tamarin Monkeys are found in the forest of South America and live in groups from between 2ā€“8 monkeys. They were named after their mustaches, which was thought to resemble German emperor Wilhelm ll. Due to their small size they are able to move from branch to branch very quickly. Their prey includes fruit, insects, and rodents. They also have predators which are, hawks, snakes and wild cats. They have a small body size they are all mostly between 7in.ā€“12in. Their tails are very long and thin, and most of the time they live to be between 8ā€“15 years. Most of all they are very playful animals ("Aā€“Z Animals"). They are very tame, playful, and loving animals. When they are in an area they love to be petted by humans and they would play around with whoever it is. They are usually in groups of 15 others. The best thing is if you get one as a pet as a baby you would have to put them in diapers to potty train them just like an actual baby. Giraffes are the tallest living animal, and they travel in herds of 3ā€“15 animals. They have their long Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 12. Endangered Animals Endangered Animals Humans are destructive. Not a lot of us think about how what we do affects the world around us. We almost act like we are the only ones on this planet. We go around polluting and destroying our world with no regard for our actions. The things that live out in the wild are paying the price for it. Every day that passes there is another animal or plant that is placed on an endangered list. This is happening at an alarming rate. Because of man's desire to expand and conquer their surroundings, there are animals and plants that are on the brink of extinction that will not be around for our kids and future generations to enjoy if something is not done about it now. This problem has been going on for hundreds of years. There...show more content... Consider, for example, the case history of the gray wolf (Canis lupus). The gray wolf is not only one of the most impressive of the large North American mammals it is also one of the most misunderstood. The history of the gray wolf since the arrival of the European peoples who indiscriminately displaced both indigenous human populations and indigenous animal and plant populations has been interlaced with attempts at extermination and, more recently, conservation. The species was almost reduced to the point of extinction before public sentiment would sway to the point where it would receive some protection. First listed as an endangered species in 1973, the gray wolf (thanks to the conservation efforts and severe legal penalties for harming this species that are attributable to the Endangered Species Act) is one of the success stories of the Endangered Species Act. With the upswing in the gray wolf population, however, there has been a consequent increase once again in the same public resentment which almost obliterated the gray wolf from the face of the earth just a few decades ago. This resentment, and the loss of habitat which seems to characterize so many indigenous species of the Americas, translate to a continuation of the rocky road which the gray wolf has traveled for so long. The plight of the gray wolf can be directly related to the fact that the wolf is considered a threat to man and livestock alike. Although wolf behavior makes them Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 13. Endangered Animals Chapter Summary Chapter two start off with a story about rhinoceros and the reason behind why black rhinos became an endangered species. Some examples used in the book show that if a material object draws in a profit, it is okay, but when they no longer have purpose, then they become expendable. Author Wheelan illustrates that this has nothing to do with compassion but everything to do with maximizing the profit of that limited resource. He emphasizes the concept that almost all things in life boil down to economics. Incentives are the best influences that motivate individuals. In this chapter, it focuses on Incentives, anything that motivates or encourages someone to do something. Ex: If we are payed through commission, we tend to work harder. • 14. Persuasive Essay On Endangered Species As the population of us humans grow, more and more environmental problems are developing such as global warming, pollution, and animal extinction. Unfortunately, endangered species are threatened by human population as we grow and consume resources at compulsive rate, and endangered species are most likely to go extinct if we do not take action. From animals, we tend to consume our sources of protein which means killing animals in order for ourselves to survive. For example, the fish provides 15 percent of protein consumed by human beings, which puts the Atlantic bluefin tuna at risk. In addition, increase in human population impacts climate change which is bringing Polar Bears closer and closer to extinction. Recently, the public and the...show more content... By using an alternative to pesticides such as ... can not only protect animals and keep them from going extinct and it can also protect your family from harmful chemicals. Another way we can reduce pollution in our environment is to walk or ride your bicycle to work instead driving because fuel from vehicles pollute the air. We can also save energy by turning the lights off before leaving the room and turning off the television when it is not being used. Furthermore, this will reduce emissions from coalā€“fired electricity plants, and also save you money on your electricity bill. Taking action to reduce pollution in our environment will save endangered animals from going extinct. Another aspect that puts animals at risk is products made from animals. Every year, millions of animals are killed for fashion. Animals are harshly treated, trapped, and killed under very devastating circumstances in order to produce fashion items such as leather boots, fur coats, and belts. Unfortunately, as consumers, we do not think about the torture animals go through just so we can wear fashionable clothing. Sheep are sheared for the fur every year and shearing too late causes a loss of wool. Because of this, sheep are sheared too soon every year and die from premature shearing. • 15. Persuasive Speech On Endangered Animals Did you know over 50,000 species become extinct each year, that's five to six each hour. Endangered species are in serious trouble and it is a major problem all around the world. They are dying quicker than people think and they need help and recognition. Endangered animals need to be helped soon or they will become extinct. To start off, many many animals are dying and even more are extinct. Many famous animals that you could name off the top of your head are endangered or close to extinction. In the WWF's official endangered species list it has a few animals people would know and their status, it states, "Black Rhino ā€“ Critically endangered, Bengal Tiger ā€“ Endangered, Blue Whale ā€“ Endangered." These animals are endangered and need to be helped they may not be in zoos in the future like it was for the present. This could also be a major problem for food chains because they could become messed up and certain things will start growing at a rapid rate if they become extinct. Continuing, over 20,000 species are endangered, and we need to figure out which species we need to prioritize. In the article 20,000 Species Are Near Extinction: Is it Time to Rethink How We Decide Which to Save?" it states, "Should the condor, which had almost been wiped out by habitat loss, hunting, and eating carcasses that were poisoned by lead bullets, be left to die in the wild? Or should scientists take the remaining 22 condors into captivity and breed them, which would cost millions of dollars?" Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 16. This photo from the World Wildlife Fund is a part of a series of similar photos. In these other photos the bluefin tuna is wearing rhinoceros and gorilla masks. For some reason these pandas and other creatures are the "mainstream" endangered animals. People seem to care more about these animals even though the bluefin tuna is actually in more danger. But, why? Is it because they are cuter? Nicer? More known? This photo makes me angry. Not only are we the reason that these animals are going extinct but, we're picking and choosing which ones we care about more. Before I did some research on this fish, I had no idea what it was. When I looked at the photo I just thought it was some random fish the WWF was using to get their point across. I'm angry that I haven't learned about this tuna in my school system and I'm also angry at myself for not trying to get the information. This seems to be the point of their campaign, though, to make us angry. The World Wildlife Fund knows that this fish is unknown to most people and uses that. It makes us and them angry that we don't even know what fish this is but yet we are still hunting and killing them. The WWf is sending this message so that we will get upset and try to do something about it. This advertisement is intended to inform us that there are other animals going extinct and not just the more known ones. The first thing people notice in pictures is going to be the color scheme. In the picture, it seems like it could be an Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 17. Endangered Species Essay How would you feel if some of your favorite animals became extinct? Throughout history animals have always struggled to survive. In recent years, many studies have shown species are becoming extinct for different reasons. Some species endangered status are created by competition with other species, natural disasters, diseases and even human involvement. These endangered species should be preserved because of the effects it has on other animals, the significance of each animal on the ecosystem, and because of the role humans take on their endangerment. Some people might not know what an extinct species is or why it is important that a species disappears. An extinct species is one that has completely died out; living individuals of this kind no longer exist. By this definition the death of every individual of that species is considered an extinction. This is a big issue for an entire species to die out and no longer exist on this planet. And this is important because, any endangered species is a threat to the natural balance of life on Earth. Every single organism in an ecosystem depends on each other to survive. All the plants and animals in the world are connected to each other in the web of life that holds them together. With these statements people can have a better understanding of this serious situation. Each species lives in different environments so their endangerment may be cause by different things. One example is that, " Habitat destruction is a major cause of Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 18. Save the Endangered Animals Essay Could you imagine a world without tigers, the giant panda, or the rhinoceros? What a paler place it would be. Astonishing amounts of animals are considered critically endangered and near extinction. If we would like these animals to be around for future generations, we cannot hesitate in our efforts to help them. Rhinoceros ā€“ Sadly, the White, Black and Javan rhinoceros are all on the critically endangered list. The Indonesian Javan Rhino is in particularly bad shape with having less than 60 of their kind left in the world. There are about 3000 Black Rhinos. Illegal Hunting is their major threat. Giant Panda ā€“ The Giant panda originates from China, Burma and Vietnam. High estimates say there are fewer than 2000 left in the world low...show more content... Their numbers once in the thousands, now is estimated at less than 700. Thankfully, due to serious conservation efforts, there has been a significant increase in the mountain gorilla population over the last few years. Blackā€“Footed Ferret ā€“ The Blackā€“footed ferret makes their home in North America where sadly they have been hunted to almost extinction. They are the most endangered species in North America with less than 100 of their kind remaining. Man's unrestrained hunting is bringing about their extinction. Goldenā€“ Headed Langurā€“ This adorable monkey lives in Vietnam. They are critically endangered with their numbers now only being between 60ā€“70. Hunters, traders and loss of habitat are bringing about their extinction. African Wild Assā€“ The African wild ass is a critically endangered animal. In the year 2002, there were less than 570 of them. Their decline in population is due to illegal hunting, loss of habitat and from the interbreeding between them and domestic donkeys. Dama Gazelle ā€“ The Dama Gazelle originates from Africa. There is three subspecies of Dama gazelles ā€“ the Addra, Dama and the Mhorr gazelle. Two of the subspeciesā€“ the Mhorr and the Dama are now extinct in the wild and only exist in zoos. While, the Addra is still seen in the wild, their numbers count less than 2000 and they are considered critically endangered. Multiple threats endanger the remaining wild gazelle, everything from illegal hunting, disease from domestic Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 19. Endangered Animals The world is facing many serious issues in this day and time. One of the major one is endangered species. These organisms are living on the edge of extinction. There are many things that threaten these species like loss of habitat, lack of food, hunting and many more. The victim of this horrendous crime against living organisms is the fastest running mammal called Cheetah, scientifically known as "Acinonyx jubatus". Cheetahs are true carnivores which means they depend on meat for survival. They use high speed to easily hunt their prey. Primary diet of cheetah consists of springbok, ostriches, impala, deer, gazelles, warthogs, birds, hares, young zebras etc. These animals tend to target younglings because of the greater rate of success. And while hunting these species like to stalk their prey for 10ā€“ 50m and then start sprinting towards it. During this time frame, their bodies are under immense strain and pressure as a result their body temperature rises to its highest. These mammals live in the dry grasslands of subā€“ Saharan Africa, and in eastern and southern parks. Some can also be found in southern Algeria, northern Niger and Iran. Today Namibia has the largest population of cheetahs living in Africa. It is very hard to believe that these species use to roam around nearly all of Africa and much of Asia, but now they are driven out of 91% of its historic range. These animals are nearly extinct in Asia, only around 50 of these individual are living in isolated areas of Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 20. Endangered Species Many species vital to ensuring that today's environment will thrive are becoming extinct. If a species is slowly dwindling, and in imminent danger of becoming nonexistent, this species is considered to be endangered. "One in four mammals, one in eight birds, one third of all amphibians and 70% of the world's assessed plants on the... IUCN Red List are in jeopardy" (IUCN, 2016). According to the International Union for Conservation of Nature, or IUCN, upwards of 16,000 species are threatened with extinction, including both plants and animals (IUCN, 2016). Before becoming endangered, a species will show warning signs, either by starting to lose biological diversity or by losing the habitats for that species to flourish in, or in the worst case, both. The word endangered can sometimes be confused with threatened, extirpated, or extinct. Extirpated refers to the state of a species where its population has died out in a certain area or range, but other populations of said species still exist elsewhere (Olden, Julian D., 2008). When a species is considered threatened, or vulnerable, this refers to the state of the species being susceptible to endangerment and extinction ("Extinction crisis escalates"). So if a species is threatened, the first signs of endangerment come along, which are similar signs to that of a species in danger of becoming threatened, including lack of genetic diversity, or overhunting may be evident. ("Extinction crisis escalates"). When a species is labelled Get more content on HelpWriting.net
