2. Welcome Hello and welcome to our website. The purpose of this presentation is to provide you with a brief introduction and background information about our father, the late Reverend Dr. Aaron W. Watkins, Jr.. We, the founders, wanted to share some of his life’s works with you. Please also find in the presentation The Reverend Dr. A.W. 4. Husband Reverend Dr. A. W. Watkins, Jr. was married to Mrs. Ethel L. Curry Watkins for over 50 glorious years.
5. Father Reverend Watkins was the proud father of ten children and several loving grandchildren.

7. Pastor Continued For 21 years, Rev. Watkins served as pastor for three churches. He preached at Mobile Heights Baptist Church the first through the third Sunday; and the fourth Sunday, he would preach at Daniel Baptist Church in Tuskegee; on the first and third Sunday in the afternoons he would preach at Helicon Missionary Baptist Church in Grady.
8. Dedicated Employee In 1967, Rev. Watkins was hired to work for Alabama Farm Bureau to perform domestic duties. He was a full-time employee, dedicated family man and pastor of three churches. He worked for ALFA for 32 years before retiring.

10. Honorary Doctor In 1987, Rev. A. W. Watkins, Jr. was presented with an Honorary Doctoral degree from Selma University, Selma, Alabama.
11. Historian Prior to his demise, Reverend Dr. A.W. Watkins, Jr. was the oldest African American pastor serving as Shepherd of a church in the City of Montgomery. He worked tirelessly spreading the word in the effort to save souls. The next four slides will capture some of our father’s most historical moments to include when he was lauded by the governor of Alabama and mayor of Montgomery for having served as pastor of Mobile Heights Baptist Church for over 45 years.
14. The Reverend Dr. A. W. Watkins Scholarship Fund, Inc. is a non-profit organization with the mission of supporting education. This organization will provide financial aid to high school graduates from Central Alabama and juniors and seniors enrolled in the College of Bible and Pastoral Ministry at Selma University, Alabama. Selma University is where Rev. Dr. A. W. Watkins, Jr. earned his Honorary Doctoral Degree. The Reverend Dr. A. W. Watkins Scholarship Fund, Inc. was incorporated in the State of Alabama on December 30, 2003 and obtained its federal tax exemption status on May 19, 2004. return to: www. revdrawwatkins .com
