Home room guidance program q1-m1
1. HOME ROOM GUIDANCE PROGRAM
QUARTER 1, MODULE 1
Regina M. Silverio – Teacher II
2. LEARNING OBJECTIVES
At the end of this module, you are expected to:
1. identify strengths and weaknesses (HGSPS-Ie-4); and
2. exhibit the importance of oneself in the following
aspects:
a. physical and physiological;
b. psychological;
c. intellectual;
d. spiritual; and
e. social (HGSPS-Ie-5).
3. Value Oneself
• Valuing oneself is also called the “self-value.” The self is
like a two-dimensional world having concrete and
abstract entities.
According to John Locke, a person is born with
“tabula rasa” or with a mind that is like a blank slate. It
means having nothing or starting from a scratch. As an
individual grows, the body continues to develop while the
mind is filled with knowledge and wisdom essential to the
behavior and maturity.
4. Self-value is more behavioral than emotional. It
means how you act more towards a value than how you
feel about it. Valuing oneself also increases self-
esteem/self-confidence.
Self-esteem recreates a person’s strengths while
dealing with weaknesses. A person who does not know
how to value himself or herself tends to have lower self-
confidence.
5. The 90/10 Principle
What is this principle?
10% of life is made up of what happens to you.
90% of life is decided by how you react.
Ex. A driver may cut us off in the traffic. We have no control over this 10 percent.
14. As an individual, it is difficult to value yourself if you have more weaknesses
than strengths. On the other hand, a strength will not exist in your trait
without enduring and accepting your weakness. Both terms provide balance
in all your life aspects. A weakness can be turned into a strength. For instance,
you may find yourself weak in the English language, but if you learned to
accept that weakness and turn it into your strength, you will see that by
perseverance, too, you can be someone who can speak English well, fluently,
and accurately.
15. A strength can sometimes be a weakness. At some point, a
situation or a factor can be both a strength and a weakness. Being too
kind is a strength that is posited within yourself, but it may become a
weakness when others tried to abuse your kindness. In fact, by
identifying your strengths and weaknesses will you truly know your
deeper self.
16. EXHIBITING THE IMPORTANCE OF ONESELF THROUGH
THE FOLLOWING ASPECTS
A. Physical and Physiological Aspects
The physical and physiological aspects do not only pertain to the body
parts and features, their changes, development, and functions. They also tackle
about your health and the way you take care of your own body.
B. Psychological Aspect
Not taking care of your body will affect your psychological or mental
aspect. The mind works in a complex manner. The way you think, feel,
behave, and learn have significant relationship to your psyche. Imagine
yourself being in a deep toxicity in social media that you forgot to
absorb positivity.
17. C. Intellectual Aspect
The intellectual aspect is venturing on the world of learning, knowledge,
and truth. To develop your intellectual capacity, read books, newspapers,
or other selections.
D. Spiritual Aspect
Spiritual aspect is finding the meaning and purpose of your life. It may
be the most overlooked aspect in yourself and it may be a little tough to
develop it.
18. E. Social Aspect
It is very important to spend time with knowing who you really are, but
you cannot avoid being with people and creating a healthy and
meaningful connection with them. The social aspect enables you to
enhance your self-esteem by conversing with others. It helps you grow
and mature more by learning with other people’s experiences. You will
Learn how to value yourself if you know how to open your hearts and
your arms to people who need you and whom you need.
