Redington Value is a value added distributor for the following brands in parts of Middle East & Africa
Sayantan Dev, President – Redington Value, reflects on how
the organization is overcoming the challenges brought on by
the global pandemic and shares insights into how partners
can prepare and succeed in a post-COVID-19 world.
Redington Value On
Navigating The New
Normal Through
Digital Innovations
A
s a digital-focused com-
pany, how seamless has
the transition to a remote
working model been for
Redington Value?
The transition was reasonably
smooth, if not absolutely seamless.
In fact, this ‘black swan’ event has
accelerated the Digital Transforma-
tion journey that Redington had al-
ready embarked upon a while ago.
Redington’s strength has always been
its agility and ability to react quickly
inthe face of crisis or adversity. This
time was no different. Several crack
teams were formed to address the
different needs of the hour. Our IT
teams worked round the clock to sup-
port the remote workers and ensure
seamless transitions to WFH. Certain
processes were redrafted to suit the
new situation, new methods of ca-
dence and communication have been
adopted. Overall, it was a reasonably
smooth transition.
What has been the biggest chal-
lenge for the company in the wake
of COVID-19 and how did you go
about overcoming it?
We encountered similar challeng-
es to what almost everyone around
the globe faced. When the pandemic
hit, just like everyone, we were taken
by surprise as to how quickly the se-
ries of events unfolded. In a matter of
weeks all activities were brought to a
grinding halt, forcing everyone to stay
at home and accept new realities of
remote working. Dealing with these
levels of uncertainty was definitely
daunting but our workforce was quick
to adapt to the new normal.
The fragmented nature of our mar-
ket demands a lot of travel across
the region, which was another huge
challenge during this time. Travel re-
strictions have affected the level of
engagement we would ideally pre-
fer. However, thanks to Redington’s
in-country presence in most places
and the effective use of collaborative
platforms, we were able to reduce the
impact significantly.
Another challenge we had was be-
ing unable to carry out our onsite
marketing events, which constitute
a vital part of our marketing drive.
However, our marketing team was
agile and was quickly able to pivot
to digital marketing initiatives. The
events went virtual and Redington
was among the first companies roll-
ing out digital enablement programs
such as Shiksha Series to ensure the
channel stayed up to speed with the
newest on technology, even though
they couldn’t physically be at our >> Continued on page 3
training centers.
How has Redington Value ensured
continued supply and support for
its extensive channel network during
this time?
Redington has used the online and
digital platforms extensively to replace
most activities that were done onsite in
a physical world. This includes a series
of marketing initiatives such as Shiksha
(the virtual channel enablement series)
as well as many demand generation ac-
tivities that we began driving jointly with
our partners to generate business oppor-
tunities for them. Our relationships with
ourpartnersaremorecohesivenowthan
ever before, and our marketing team has
played an important role in this.
Besides online sales support and de-
mand generations, our technical team
also offers remote support for imple-
menting remote POC, advisory services,
online training and enablement, cus-
tomer briefings and so on. In effect, a
significant part of our activities has been

How can channel partners emerge
successfully in a COVID-19-impact-
ed economy? What are the technolo-
gies and lessons they must focus on?
The COVID-19 crisis has definitely
made life challenging for the commu-
nity at large. It brought most business
activities to a sudden halt, which has
had a severe impact on the general
economy. Everyone has been affected
by the adverse impacts of this crisis in
one way or another. Our hearts go out
to the entire community and particu-
larly our channel partners who are fac-
ing the severity of this crisis. Howev-
er, we can also see new opportunities
emerging out of this pandemic.
Digital transformation has accelerat-
ed – what didn’t happen in three years
happened in three months! There is
a sudden increase in cloud adoption.
This is being looked upon as the tip-
ping point for the industry. ‘Time
to Value’ and ‘Capacity on demand’
are two key considerations for deci-
sion-making by the customers. Secu-
rity is another critical area , where we
are seeing rapid growth. The security
landscape is also expected to change
swiftly and requires customers and the
ecosystem to adapt quickly.
How is Redington Value enabling
partners to accelerate their busi-
nesses digitally and ensure busi-
ness continuity?
Redington’s online activities are help-
ing customer enablement in areas like
Digital Transformation, Cloud and
Security. We have made significant
investment in developing skills of our
highly talented pool of resources and
in turn helping our channel partners
in empowering their teams.

and gateways extend access to enter-
prise applications and services hosted
on-premises or in the public cloud, any-
where employees work.
Aruba Virtual Intranet Access (VIA)
VPN software client provides secure
connectivity to laptops, phones, and
tablets. VIA includes an embedded
firewall that intelligently segments the
traffic and enforces the security poli-
cies down to each user.
The Office Reimagined
The office will become increasingly
smart using Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, IoT sen-
sors, and other capabilities that were in-
vestedinduringtheCOVID-19reopen-
ing phase, but then may be repurposed
to provide employee experience-en-
hancing applications, as well as security
and crisis capabilities, should any type
of health or other emergency resurface.
To help customers through this office
and workstyle transformation, Aruba
has established relationships with key
leaders in the field of office architec-
ture, design, and furnishings, such as
Herman Miller, whose products, in
conjunction with Aruba’s AI-powered
infrastructure, can help customers re-
define next generation spaces.
Aruba, a Hewlett Packard Enterprise
company, has unveiled a suite of work-
place solutions and a new vision for
three return to work scenarios – return-
ing to the office and venues, working
from home, and ultimately, the office
reimagined. With Aruba’s AI-powered,
cloud-native networking solutions as
their foundation, each scenario provides
pragmatic steps organizations can take
today to expedite business recovery and
implement contact tracing and touch-
less solutions.
“The new fluid workplace requires con-
textual awareness, adaptability and scal-
ability on a global scale – all without
security gaps,” said Partha Narasimhan,
CTO and HPE Senior Fellow for Aruba,
a Hewlett Packard Enterprise compa-
ny. “Throughout the pandemic, Aruba’s
AI-powered infrastructure has adapted
to optimize customers’ reimagined work
environments at half a million customer
sites worldwide, with massive telework-
forces dispatched to work from home,
and for essential mobile workforces.”
Return To Office And Venues
Social distancing guidelines direct peo-
ple to stay six feet away from one an-
other so that they are less susceptible to
COVID-19. These new tools from Aruba
help employees stay connected as well as
connect with customers, while maintain-
ing the distance.
New approach to working in 2020 and beyond uses Aruba’s AI-powered, cloud-native platform
to deliver enterprise access and enforce safe work habits tailored to hybrid work environments.

dards. This will simplify cross-domain
service collaboration and assurance,
reducing R&D and operation costs and
risks, achieving agile business through
simplified integration, and ultimately
reducing the collaboration costs of the
entire industry.
The white paper also suggests using
L4 (high autonomous network) as the
phased objective of the future architec-
ture. This architecture should include
the following four features:
1. Digitalisation of network knowl-
edge and expert knowledge, as well
as a transition from reactive, manual
O&M to predictive, intelligent O&M
2. Simplified network infrastructure
and intelligent NEs
3. Hierarchical single-domain auton-
omy and cross-domain collabora-
tion, achieving online and real-time
closed-loop networks
4. A unified cloud-based AI training,
knowledge management, and O&M
design platform, supporting the iter-
ative evolution of telecom networks
To achieve the ambitious ADN goal, the
white paper suggests that all industry
parties need to reach a consensus and
jointly develop unified standards and hi-
erarchical evaluation systems in compli-
ance with the three-stage (development,
research, and exploration) strategy.

Cohesity has announced a mobile app
that provides customers a simple way
to manage all of their Cohesity clusters
right from the palm of their hand. The
Cohesity Helios mobile app empowers
IT staff to monitor the health and per-
formance of their Cohesity infrastruc-
ture, easily manage support cases, and
get alerts about anomalies, including po-
tential ransomware attacks to their pro-
duction environment, while on the go.
They can access this vital information
from their smartphones through the ap-
plication, which can be easily download-
edviatheAppleAppStoreorGooglePlay.
Cohesity Helios is a SaaS-based data
management offering that empowers
customerstosee,manage,andtakeaction
on their data and applications globally,
whether in the data center, in the cloud,
or at the edge.
The mobile app leverages machine
learning-based anomaly detection that
is built into the Helios SaaS solution to
discover potential ransomware attacks
in an IT production environment. He-
lios triggers an alert when the primary
data-change rate is out of the norm,
indicating potential data encryption
activity. Anomalies will be detected
based on matching any significant data
changes against the normal patterns.
Cohesity also provides DataLock
(WORM) and multi-factor authenti-
cation. And, in the event that an attack
successfully impacts production data,
organizations can rely on the firm to
reduce downtime by restoring at scale.
Vineet Abraham, Senior Vice Pres-
ident, Products and Engineering,
Cohesity, said, “Cybercriminals don’t
just work during office hours and
having a way to monitor the health
of your data clusters from a mobile
device 24 hours a day, seven days a
week, and receive notifications that
could uncover a ransomware attack in
action, could save your organization
millions of dollars and keep brand
reputations intact.”
Customers can also use the app to
manage all clusters registered to the

all health of a data cluster; see the
available storage capacity; have vis-
ibility into the organization’s top
protected data sources, including
VMs, applications, and databases.
• Clusters: See a comprehensive list
of all registered clusters with de-
tails like software version, storage,
throughput, and input/output oper-
ations per second (IOPS).
• Alerts: Review all active alerts from
the last 24 hours. For example, re-
view how clusters are performing,
or check on the status of a job.

natively delivers automated, easy-to-
deploy disaster recovery solutions
built to deliver applications that must
always be available.”
New capabilities to simplify and auto-
mate DR efforts include:
Multi-Site Disaster Recovery: Nutanix
now supports multi-site DR designs,
helping enable enterprises to quickly re-
cover from the simultaneous failure of
two or more data centres, while keeping
applications and data available to users.
Particularly valuable in regulated indus-
tries like financial services, healthcare,
and emergency services where organ-
isations need to deliver uninterrupted
service, Nutanix DR leverages advanced
automation technology to eliminate
the complexity of DR installation and
on-going orchestration. Application
teams can quickly recover from un-
planned outages or data corruption and
set configurations to adhere to many
stringent compliance requirements.
Unmatched Near Sync Disaster Re-
covery: Nutanix now supports near
sync replication with an RPO of only
about 20 seconds, a 3x improvement
from its already industry-leading tech-
nology. Nutanix is the only leading
HCI vendor to offer a 20-second RPO.
Synchronous Data Replication for
Nutanix AHV: Synchronous replica-
tion, or the nearly instantaneous rep-
lication of data between multiple lo-
cations, is now natively supported on
the Nutanix AHV hypervisor. AHV
can be used by customers to deliver a
highly available service for their most
important workloads, such as virtual
desktop infrastructure, databases, and
general server virtualisation.
DROrchestrationwithRunbooks: The
latest release gives customers more flex-
ibility and control over the end-to-end
recovery process, with more granular
control to focus DR resources toward
targeted applications.
These new DR capabilities are includ-
ed in the Nutanix HCI software and
are generally available.
Nutanix has announced several new
capabilities in its hyperconverged in-
frastructure (HCI) software and AHV
hypervisor to protect business-critical
applications and maintain continuous
business operations in the face of a
possible disaster. New capabilities in-
clude advanced automation for recov-
ering applications and data, support
for seamless multi-site disaster recov-
ery (DR), synchronous replication for
workloads running on AHV, and a near
zero data loss with “near sync” replica-
tion for recovery point objective (RPO)
times of approximately 20 seconds.
The new capabilities in Nutanix HCI
andAHVhelpenablecustomerstocon-
fidently deliver mission-critical applica-
tions with significantly less complexity
and lower management overhead.
“Maintaining continuous business op-
erations is a high priority for all types
of companies and organisations,” said
Greg Smith, VP of Product Market-
ing at Nutanix. “However, most busi-
nesses rely on custom, handcrafted
DR implementations to guard against
system-wide IT failures. Nutanix now
