Huawei Outlines New Growth
Opportunities with 5G
At the recent 11th annual Mobile
Broadband Forum, Huawei’s Dep-
uty Chairman Ken Hu spoke with
global leaders about the new value
that 5G will bring to different in-
dustries around the globe—trans-
forming the way we live, connect,
and work.
“There’s no out-of-the-box approach
to innovation,” said Hu. “We’ve got to
focus on real needs in real scenarios –
Comcast Business has announced that
it is joining forces with Aruba, a Hew-
lett Packard Enterprise company, for
the launch of Comcast Business Tele-
and build up the capabilities to meet
those needs.” While many industries
have shown that they are ready and
willing to embrace 5G, Hu stressed
the importance of developing criteria
for specific scenarios and assessing
whether or not 5G is the right tool
for the job based on technical rele-
vance, business potential, value chain
maturity, and standardization.
Huawei has in turn unveiled a vision
for “1+N” 5G target networks and
released a full series of 5G solutions
for building such networks. “To em-
brace the approaching golden decade
of 5G, we need to evolve our networks
towards 5G with full spectrum and
build one high-bandwidth simplified
target network that ensures ubiqui-
tous connectivity with on-demand
overlay of ‘N’ capabilities,” said Yang

tainment and more.

less Network Solution.
David Wang, Huawei’s Executive Di-
rector, also alluded to the next gen-
eration of 5.5G technologies—an ex-
tension of the standard 5G scenarios
defined by the ITU. He noted that 5G
will remain the major mobile commu-
nications technology until 2030 and
will likely be in service until 2040.
However, looking ahead to 2030, cel-
lular networks will carry more than
100 billion connections, and 5G needs
to keep evolving to meet the ever more
diverse and complex needs of society.
The 5.5G evolution will—amongst oth-
er things—enable the ICT sector to ex-
plore new scenarios including Uplink
Centric Broadband Communication
(UCBC), Real-Time Broadband Com-
munication (RTBC), and Harmonized
Communication and Sensing (HCS).
Huawei has proposed that all indus-
try stakeholders should start working
on 5.5G within the 3GPP framework
as soon as possible, that the industry
should make the most of sub-100 GHz
spectrum, and that the ICT industry
needs to further integrate 5G into ver-
ticals to create more use cases.

fronts with secure policy-driven access

Barracuda Acquires Zero Trust
Network Access Innovator Fyde
Barracuda, a provider of cloud-en-
abled security solutions, has an-
nounced that it has acquired Fyde, a
ZTNA provider based in Palo Alto,
Calif., and Porto, Portugal to expand
the Barracuda CloudGen SASE plat-
form with ZTNA capabilities. The
Fyde solution is available immediate-
ly as Barracuda CloudGen Access to
businesses of all sizes. It will be avail-
able in the coming weeks for Managed
Service Providers.
Fyde’s innovative Zero Trust solu-
tion enables secure, reliable, and fast
access to cloud or on-premises ap-
plications and workloads from any
device and location. Fyde’s ZTNA
solution addresses the security risks
associated with traditional remote
access by continuously verifying that
only the right person, with the right
device, and the right permissions can
access company resources. The solu-
tion is ideal to connect users directly
to cloud-native and legacy corporate
applications deployed in hybrid and
multi-cloud environments.
“Remote work is here to stay, cloud
migrations are accelerating, and tra-
ditional corporate perimeters have
disappeared,” said BJ Jenkins, Pres-
ident and CEO at Barracuda. “Fyde
offers a powerful ZTNA solution
that works on any infrastructure,
any device, and with any application
on a corporate network. With this
acquisition, Barracuda is providing
distributed businesses a new way to
modernize remote access, enforce
global security and access policies,
and achieve seamless connectivity
without compromising productivity.”
Citrix Systems has introduced two
new workspace security solutions de-

VMware has unveiled the Modern Net-
work framework to enable businesses,

teams, to accelerate adapting to a new
normal.Tohelpcustomersrealizeamod-

announced further enhancements to its
virtualnetworkingproductsandservices.
The Virtual Cloud Network embodies
the Modern Network framework. More
than 18,000 organizations have mod-
ernized their networks using VMware’s
Virtual Cloud Network solution. These
customers are embracing a cloud oper-
ating model, launching workloads with
full automation, and eliminating weeks
and months of wait time to update a fire-
wall or load balancer. They are virtual-
izing everything from the data center to
the branch to the end user. The Virtual
Cloud Network gives organizations an
end-to-end solution to deploy applica-
tions and make sure they are running
optimally and efficiently, while enabling
a great user experience.
“Our customers must efficiently manage
the rapid shift to remote work, deliver
applications faster and more securely,
and reduce the cost and complexity of
connecting and protecting the distrib-
uted enterprise,” said Rajiv Ramaswami,
Chief Operating Officer, Products and
Cloud Services, VMware. “The Mod-
ern Network framework enables our
customers to do this. It turns the old
way of thinking about networks as hard-
ware appliances, switches, and routers
in enterprise networks on its head and
instead, takes a top-down view that puts
users and applications first. This is the
promise we are delivering on with the
Virtual Cloud Network.”
VMware also announced the following
enhancements among others to the Vir-
tual Cloud Network portfolio –

data exposure and data movement.
As a single centralized cloud service,
Palo Alto Networks Enterprise DLP
can be deployed across an entire large
enterprise in minutes with no need for
additional infrastructure. In addition,
the service makes it easy to define data
protection policies and configurations
once and automatically apply them
to every network location and cloud
where an organization has data. This
also makes it easy for security teams to
deploy DLP when organizations add
new users or branch offices.
Because of its simplified policy engine
and native integration into existing
control points, including Palo Alto
Networks Next-Generation Firewalls,
VM-Series, Prisma Access, Prisma
Cloud, and Prisma SaaS, it has the low-
est total cost of ownership (TCO) com-
pared to complex legacy DLP products.
This combines new and existing DLP
offerings into a single comprehensive
service, bringing Palo Alto Networks
into the enterprise DLP market.
Palo Alto Networks Enterprise DLP
can automatically detect sensitive
content via advanced machine learn-
ing-based data classification and data
patterns that leverage over 500+ in-
dustry-defined data identifiers.
Palo Alto Networks has introduced En-
terprise Data Loss Prevention (DLP)—a
cloud-delivered service that brings a
fresh, simple and modern approach to
data protection, privacy and compliance.

Freshworks unveils Freshworks CRM
The company has also announced Freshworks Neo, a reimagined digital-first
platform, providing out-of-the-box customer 360 intelligence for AI-driven selling.
Freshworks, the customer and employ-
ee engagement software company, has
unveiled Freshworks CRM, uniting
sales and marketing teams with out-of-
the-box capabilities for an unsurpassed
and unified 360-degree view of the cus-
tomer to deliver better experiences and
more profitable outcomes. The Fresh-
works CRM solution is built on Fresh-
works Neo, a new and fundamental re-
imagining of the platform experience,
which unifies data on an embedded
customer data platform for person-
alised customer engagement, improved
lead conversion and sales growth. Neo
eliminates the reliance on unwieldy
tools and complex multi-stack point
solutions that result in data silos that
limit artificial intelligence (AI) and ma-
chine learning’s (ML) usefulness. With
Neo, businesses can quickly and easily
extend and craft custom environments,
with simple clicks not code, to better
serve their customers and prospects.
With Freshworks CRM, marketing
and sales users now have access to
AI-powered insights on a single dash-
board. The explosion of customer data
is converted into “Freddy AI” powered
insights that help drive sales and im-
prove customer experiences, increas-
ing the value of the relationship. This
makes CRM inherently more useful
and helps drive bottom-up adoption
by the sales team — a promise that has
thus far eluded legacy CRM solutions.
Prakash Ramamurthy, Chief Product
Officer at Freshworks, said, “We built
Freshworks CRM to harness the power
of data and create immediate value, chal-
lenging legacy CRM solutions that have
failed sales teams with clunky interfaces
and incomplete data. Freshworks CRM

whether they are in sales, marketing,
