3. Recreating my collection of bookmarks. (This
time in a place where they won’t get lost
when my computer crashes!)
Being able to connect with scientists
and educators via Twitter.
Creating online learning tools for my
students to use while at home via Edmodo
and Quizlet.
Learning more of the technology that my
students use on a daily basis.
4. Using social media sites in my personal life has
come easy to me. It has been very difficult
reinventing myself as an educator online. I have had
the most struggles using Twitter. Although the posts
are short, when I log in I get overwhelmed with
information. I wanted to have some of the people
that I follow be scientists in the fields that my
students study. Unfortunately, they don’t really
tweet much information about the research that they
do. The educational organizations that I have chosen
to follow occasionally provide me with valuable tools.
I hope that this will increase once the school year
begins. Hash tags are still very foreign to me as I
struggle to figure them out. Hopefully over time I
will better understand and learn to love Twitter, but
for now I struggle to understand it.
5. Online learning is the learning of the
future. More and more colleges offer many
classes online and it’s even possible to earn a
degree online. K-12 education has gone from
traditional classrooms to homeschooling and
now online learning. I feel that it is very
important for teachers in the traditional
classroom to incorporate aspects of online
learning. If we do not do this, our students
will not be prepared for the many aspects of
online learning presented to them in the
future.
