1. Mission to Reach the Gbeka People
with the Gospel
November 2019
Ridgecrest Baptist Church
2.
3. How I Got Involved
• Pastor David’s Preaching at that time
centered on our Christian Purpose & Mission
• Your purpose & mission as a believer is
the same as that of the church
• Your purpose is to live for the glory of God
• Your mission in life is the Great
Commission
• “How are you involved in the Great
Commission?”
• IMB Missionaries Visit the Tusc. County
Baptist Assoc. & Shiloh Baptist
4.
5. IMB “Engaging Churches” Overview
• Romans 10
• How shall they hear unless someone
proclaims to them?
• Unreached People Groups: Nearly 7,000
• Unengaged Unreached People Groups: 3,200
• Engaging Churches & IMB Engagement Teams
• ST4T – The Storytelling Method
• Reproducible by a local church
• The basis for sharing God’s Word with people who
have no written language! (Romans 10:17)
16. David
He was receptive and
we left an SD card of
the Scriptures with
him.
We got to do a
lengthy story,
testimony, and gospel
presentation with
him the first day we
talked with him.
27. WHY ARE WE GOING?
• We have a mission
• The Great Commission - Matthew 28:19-20 – “Go therefore
and make disciples of all the nations”
• We want to do ministry towards that mission
at 4 levels
• Acts 1:8 – “You shall be my witnesses in … “
• Jerusalem: Our community
• Judea: Alabama/regional missions
• Samaria: North American Missions
• Uttermost part of the earth (Gbeka Unreached People Group)
28. WHAT ARE WE TRYING TO DO?
• To glorify God by stepping out in faith &
action to the calling He has put on our church
• Our prayer: to see a church planted among
the Gbeka people that is capable of planting
other churches
• BUT: The ultimate measure of success is
faithfulness
29. HOW?
• MCA Missionaries asked Dietrich our
“strategy”
• He said, our strategy is very simple
• Talk to people, pray with people, and actively
look for things in the conversation we can
turn towards a story, our testimony, or the
gospel.
• Should be the same method we use everyday!
30. What God is Teaching thru His Work
with the Gbeka People
1. The grace & plan of God in sending people
into our lives for His Glory
2. The power of prayer to reveal God and His
faithfulness
3. That God has called us to a God-sized work
4. The amazing ability of God’s Word
31. 1)God has been at work long
before us to accomplish His Plan
and is allowing us to see Him at
work!
32. 2) God has been so faithful to
answer prayers
As Mori said before: “we see that
the power of Jesus is great”
because of answered prayers.
Mori always brings up his “lost
son” who was found.
Mori told the chief that the doctors
in Nzerekore were surprised he
lived because “this sickness always
leads to death”. He attributed this
to our prayers in front of the chief.
Adama’s wife had been having pain
over her entire body for over a
month. We prayed over her on this
trip and she was feeling better the
next day!
33. 3) A God-sized Work
We are being given a gift by God to
see Him at work in something that we
could not POSSIBLY make any progress
towards on our own.
As the world sees our church doing
things that REQUIRE God to move,
they will experience Him and be drawn
to Him.
“God’s will supernaturally crosses your
path with specific people already
prepared by God for you to meet.”
“God’s will uses the Holy Spirit to
empower you for verbally sharing the
story of God’s love in the Bible.”
“God’s will is to use common
Christians to lead lost people to Him
for salvation for HIS glory throughout
all eternity.”
34. Hebrews 4:12
“For the Word of God is living and
powerful, and sharper than any two-edged
sword, piercing even to the division of soul
and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is
a discerner of the thoughts and intents of
the heart. “
