3. คานามเป็นคาที่ใช้เรียกชื่อคน สัตว์ สถานที่ สิ่งของ กิจกรรม
และอื่นๆ เช่น student, policeman, dog, snake, airport,
river, television, sugar, love, etc. สาหรับคานามสามารถแบ่ง
ตามลักษณะการใช้ได้ 2 ประเภทดังนี้...
1. Uncountable Nouns หรือ คานามที่นับไม่ได้ มักจะมีรูปเป็น
เอกพจน์เสมอ และจะไม่ใช้ a, an ประกอบข้างหน้านาม ส่วนมากจะเป็น
ชื่อของอาหาร ของเหลว เป็นผง หรือเป็นเม็ดละเอียด
5. Uncountable Nouns หรือคานามนับไม่ได้ เราสามารถนับ
คานามเหล่านี้ได้ในรูปแบบดังต่อไปนี้
1.นับตามลักษณะของภาชนะที่บรรรจุ ดังตัวอย่าง...
A cup of coffee (กาแฟ 1 ถ้วย) Two cups of coffee (กาแฟ 2 ถ้วย)
A glass of beer (เบียร์ 1 แก้ว) Two glasses of beer (เบียร์ 2 แก้ว)
A jug of sugar (น้าตาล 1 เหยือก) Four jugs of
sugar (น้าตาล 4 เหยือก)
A bowl of soup (ซุป 1 ถ้วย) Two bowls of soup ( ซุป 2 ถ้วย)
6. 2.นับตามลักษณะของสิ่งของ เช่น ก้อน ม้วน แถว ...
A bar of soap (สบู่ 1 ก้อน) Three bars of
soap (สบู่ 3 ก้อน)
A loaf of bread
(ขนมปัง 1 แถว)
Two loaves of bread
(ขนมปัง 2 แถว)
A roll of tissue (ทิชชู 1 ม้วน)
Three rolls of tissue
(ทิชชู 3 ม้วน)
7. 3.นับตามปริมาณที่ได้จากการชั่ง การตวง และการ
วัด เช่น เป็นกิโลกรัม เป็นขวด เป็นแก้ว
A kilo of pork (หมู 1 กิโลกร้ม) Three kilos of
pork (หมู 3 กิโลกรัม)
A bottle of
sauce (ซอส 1 ขวด)
Two bottles of
sauce (ซอส 2 ขวด)
A glass of water (น้า 1 แก้ว) Four glasses of
water (น้า 4 แก้ว)
8. 2. Countable Nouns หมายถึงคานามที่เราสามารถ
แยกนับเป็นจานวนได้ ว่ามี กี่ชิ้น กี่อัน กี่ตัว หรือกี่คน..เช่น
a notebook, an orange, a lion, an umbrella, a
bus, an arm, two apples, five students etc. และ
ต้องมี Articles "a" หรือ "an" ประกอบข้างหน้าเสมอ โดยมีวิธีใช้
ดังนี้...
1. “ A” ใช้นาหน้าคานามที่ขึ้นต้นด้วยเสียงพยัญชนะ เช่น a
purse, a table, a house, a train, a bank , a
hospital......
2. “AN” ใช้นาหน้าคานามที่ขึ้นต้นด้วยเสียงสระ เช่น an
apple, an uncle, an orange, an umbrella, an aunt
9. ตัวอย่างประโยคแสดง การใช้ Article "A" และ"An"
Singular Noun ที่ขึ้นตันด้วยพยัญชนะ Singular Noun ที่ขึ้นตันด้วยสระ
My mother gives me
a cake.
An umbrella is red.
A man is drinking.
An elephant is a big
animal.
A butterfly can fly. I like to eat an apple.
10. ทั้ง some และ any มีความหมายว่า "บ้าง" แต่ใช้แตกต่างกันดังนี้
some ใช้กับประโยคบอกเล่าใช้ได้ทั้งกับนามนับได้และนามนับไม่ได้
เป็นพหูพจน์ เช่น...
- I have some pens. (ฉันพอจะมีปากกาบ้าง)
- John wants some water. (John ต้องการน้าบ้าง)
- There are some books on the table. (มีปากกาอยู่บนโต๊ะ
บ้าง)
- There is some sugar in the bowl. (มีน้าตาลทรายอยู่ในชาม
บ้าง)
11. 1. Any ใช้กับประโยคปฏิเสธนาหน้าคานามที่นับไม่ได้และคานามที่นับได้ที่เป็น
พหูพจน์ ซึ่งความหมายจะเปลี่ยนเป็น"ไม่______ เลย" เช่น...
- I don't have any pens. (ฉันไม่มีปากกาเลยสักด้าม)
- John doesn't want any water. (John ไม่ต้องการน้าเลย)
- There aren't any pencils under the table. (ไม่มีดินสออยู่ใต้โต๊ะเลยสัก
แท่ง)
- There isn't any tea in the cup. (ไม่มีน้าชาอยู่ในถ้วยเลย)
2. Any ใช้กับประโยคคาถามนาหน้าคานามที่นับไม่ได้และคานามที่นับได้ที่เป็น
พหูพจน์ ซึ่งความหมายจะเปลี่ยนเป็น"_______บ้างไหม" เช่น...
- Do you have any pens? (คุณมีปากกาบ้างไหม)
- Does John want any water? (John ต้องการน้าบ้างไหม)
- Are there any books in the schoolbag? (มีหนังสืออยู่ในกระเป๋ าเรียนบ้าง
ไหม)
- Is there any coffee in the cup? (มีกาแฟอยู่ในถ้วยบ้างไหม)
