Your servers, our Cloud, the best service in the industry. RapidScale gives you on-demand capacity with the best infrastructure tools and utilities in the industry.
The goal of CloudServer is to provide a flexible, standardized and virtualized operating environment that allows applications to perform at their peak without downtime. Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) abstracts hardware (server, storage and network infrastructure) into a pool of computing, storage and connectivity capabilities that are delivered as services for a usage-based (metered) cost. Leveraging our infrastructure allows you to operate like an enterprise-level organization, no matter what size you are.
With CloudServer, you will also receive the benefits of Disaster Recovery. There are a myriad of ways to lose equipment and data, whether it is fire, theft or malfunctioning sprinklers. RapidScale’s CloudServer houses your data in secure Tier 3, Class 1 data centers that are mirrored and securely backed up. This gives your services the ability to be quickly back on-line and running smoothly in the event of a disaster. Our infrastructure resides in multiple data centers so clients can be assured that their business critical applications and data will be fully redundant in a different data center, making it easier to resume business as usual.
CloudServer has a pay-as-you-go model which allows you to scale up or down depending on your needs. Quickly seize new opportunities and get projects up and running with the scalability of our solution. When it comes to pricey hardware, you can save a lot by using our infrastructure and buying only what you use. With IaaS, eliminate the many negative aspects of IT expansion, especially issues with in-house infrastructure, while still receiving the processing power and storage space that you need to run.
CloudServer is based off of enterprise-class infrastructure at a fraction of the costs with 24x7x365 friendly and reliable support. We care about your business’ uptime objectives and security, which is why RapidScale has worked hard to become a leader in CloudServer. With your applications built into a private cloud environment that includes encryption, firewalls and advanced around-the-clock monitoring, they will remain safe and secure. Operate worry-free, knowing that you always have RapidScale’s support.
With your infrastructure hosted off-site, you free up your IT staff to focus on value-added tasks, such as planning and development, instead of running around patching machines and fixing bugs. Reduce risk, eliminate headaches and save money with CloudServer.

3. CloudServer
Infrastructure as a Service, IaaS:
Delivers computer infrastructure - typically a
platform virtualization environment as a service.
Rather than purchasing servers, software, data
center space or network equipment, clients
instead buy those resources as a fully
outsourced service, on demand.
Definitions:
• CPU: “Central Process Unit” The
processor, the brains of the computer
where most of the calculations take place
• CORE: Refer to the actual processing
units within the CPU
• RAM: “Random Access Memory” High
speed storage linked directly to CPU

Building a Cloud begins with building or renting space in a data center. Think of the cloud as “technology
lasagna”. It’s built in layers. Unlike lasagna, you can buy some layers and rent others. But, we’ll layer
from the ground up. Literally. So, in your “Data Center” layer you have: the land, building power, cooling,
water control, security, access, landscaping, etc. It’s everything you need, except the computer part.

helps to promote green
computing.
17. When is this a good fit?
• For new organizations without the capital to invest in hardware
• When the organization is growing rapidly and scaling hardware would be
problematic
• When there is pressure on the organization to limit capital expenditure and
to move to operating expenditure
CloudServer

18. • Do you suffer from any performance problems within your IT infrastructure?
• Would you like the ability to upgrade your infrastructure to enterprise class without increasing
your CAPEX?
• Are any of your servers nearing end of life?
• How many servers do you have?
• How many physical servers do you have?
• Is any of the hardware due for an upgrade?
• How many of your servers are Virtual?
• What Hyper-Visor are you running?
• What are the server specifications? (CPU, RAM, Storage)
• What is your current server utilization?
• What mission critical applications is your company running today on your servers?
• What critical applications are you running? Such as: Exchange, SQL, CRM or accounting?
• Does your organization have any Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity plan in place?
• What Operating System are you running?
• What happens today if a server goes down?
• Is your organization strapped for capital?

20. • Does your 2013 capital budget include replacing IT infrastructure?
• How do you pay for applications today that ride on your current IT infrastructure? (Flat-rate,
capex with maintenance, monthly per-user fee)
• Would you prefer moving to an operating expense versus a capital expense for IT infrastructure?
• Do you receive volume discounts on your hardware or software purchases?
• What are your maintenance fees associated to your IT infrastructure and software?
• How much would 24 hours of downtime cost your company?
• What are your business expectations around Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) for IT infrastructure?
• Would you like to take advantage of economies of scale at your organization by getting
enterprise-level infrastructure at a fraction of the cost?
Questions to Ask a CFO
8/11/2014 CloudServer Training 20
So how do you get to the cloud? In this example, there are two ways to get to the same place. Path #1 is to look at the Physical/Virtual servers the client has and create an exact replica of them in CloudServer. From top left to top right above, this is the progression to create the virtual servers in CloudServer.
In Path #2, we look at the Applications and their compute requirements. Then, we “build” CloudServers that match those specifications and build them in the RapidScale cloud.
