2. Summary Of The Case Study
Project is between ZTE (Zhongxing Telecom –
Pakistan ) and Telenor Pakistan
ZTE Corporation is a leading global provider of
telecommunications equipment and network solutions
ZTE is listed on both the Hong Kong and Shenzhen
Stock Exchanges and is China’s largest listed telecoms
equipment company.
3. In 2011 ZTE won the project of Telenor for
maintaining and running the setup of Telenor and ZTE
became the sole vendor
We have a case in which we have to look after the
maintenance of the all sites of Telenor.
A site means the base transceiver station (BTS) is a
piece of equipment that facilitates wireless
communication between user equipment (UE) and a
network.
4. This program contributes to facilitates and make the
working of all stations to provide the best quality
services to their clients / end-users.
The program provides the space for all of the user of
24*7 working of their systems and proper running of
functionalities and it is monitored continuously.
5. Remote Monitoring System
Reduced energy consumption
Energy metering will help you make the right
decisions
Reduced service trips
Perform service only when needed
6. Increased lifetime of batteries
Keeping track of temperatures in your BTS will
increase lifetime
No malfunctioning gensets
Improve reliability and operation of back-up power
generators
Minimized fuel theft
Immediate alarms when fuel levels drop too fast
7. Monitoring Teams
HEAD QUARTER of Telenor – Pakistan monitoring
the systems continuously with the help of RMS
(Remote Monitoring System)
Review the program for approving priorities for
capacity development initiatives directed at multiple
areas.
8. Reason why the case selected
This case study implements a program, which requires
a continuous check and balance
It needs to be check and needy action is to be taken
accordingly and to the time.
Potential stakeholders are involved accordingly with
respect to perform the needy actions.
9. How it works
A Remote Monitoring System is connected to the equipment
in your base station using a serial, Ethernet or I/O
connection.
The gateway sends information via the Internet or the mobile
network (GSM/GPRS/3G) to the cloud-based system data
center.
By accessing there server from Head Quarter , they can
monitor parameters such as temperatures, statuses and levels
in a regular user interface.
Trending tools (dashboards) are available to analyze
recorded data and alarms are sent whenever a critical event
occurs in the field.
10. RMS ALLOWS YOU TO
REMOTELY HANDLE:
Fault management (FM) such as alarms and
notifications at critical events.
Configuration management (CM) for example setting
the cooling temperature on your FCU or air
conditioning.
Performance management (PM) - generate instant or
scheduled statistics and reports.
11. Findings on the case’s M&E
framework
User interface is having the complete information about
the working systems
This is the mode which is being used and working
activities accordingly.
12. Methodology with example a
flowchart
If the system accesses any problem the following
process is used to evaluate and then the necessary
action is taken.
End users
Signal Transformations:
14. Designed to control large or complex facilities
such as factories, power plants, network operations
centers, airports, and spacecraft, with some degree
of automation.
M&C systems may receive data from sensors,
telemetry streams, user inputs, and pre-
programmed procedures.
15. Correction of system flaws
Fault management (FM) such as alarms and
notifications at critical events.
Configuration management (CM) for example
setting the cooling temperature on your FCU or air
conditioning.
Performance management (PM) - generate instant
or scheduled statistics and reports.
16. Program level Monitoring
As they are having the complete setup online and
system based setup to monitor the actual sites.
Identifying, designing, and providing capacity
development support activities;
Responding to requests for assistance about the error
Financial and grant administration
17. The quarterly reports submitted by each partner and
will distil the following information:
Common factors influencing project implementation
The log is maintained accordingly
Log is checked on weekly basis
Reports to Head Quarter
Actions on Reports
18. Key Evaluation Questions (KEQs)
During the Evaluation the following are the common
questions which are carefully handled.
1. How and to what extent has the System affected the sites
and networks
2. How and to what extent have the teams worked
efficiently?
3. How much the time is taken to resolved the error / issue ?
4. what errors are continuously coming?
5. What possible actions are to be taken ?
6. what are reasons to eliminate the error permanently?
19. After completion of all the tasks the following are
the data is ready to analyze and can be used in
other future decisions.
• Monitoring processes at partner and program level;
• Successive data is analyzed
• A comparison of the baseline and mid-term actions
taken
• Relevant actions and authenticity is generated
20. Effectiveness of project M&E
System
1. Outcomes and process focused:
M&E focuses on the quality of implementation
processes carried out, and equally on what
outcomes have occurred as a result of these
activities.
Outcomes can be positive or negative, expected or
unexpected.
21. 2. Monitoring
Remote monitoring and control (M&C) systems are
designed to control large or complex facilities such
as factories, power plants, network operations
centers, airports, and spacecraft, with some degree
of automation
22. Once limited to SCADA in industrial settings, remote
monitoring and control is now applied in numerous
fields, including:
Smart grids
Positive train control
Structural health monitoring
Pipeline sensors
Patient monitoring
Desktop/server monitoring
23. 4. A user-focused orientation
The M&E system has been structured to provide the
right information in the right format to key
stakeholders when they need it.
