What will happen when Christ comes again?

1: In what manner will Christ return?
2: Who will be with him when he comes?
3: What will men be saying when he comes?
4: What will happen to this world when He comes?
5: How soon would the signs of Matthew 24 be fulfilled?
6: For what were they to pray? Why?
7: How many will come forth at the time of the
   resurrection?
8: By what will men be judged at the “last day?”
9: What will happen to the kingdom at the “end”
10: Who will be punished when He comes?

Premillennialism

I: WHAT IS THE BASIC THEORY OF PREMILLENNIALISM?
A: The word itself means “Pre” (before); “Millennial” (1000 year reign).
1: Christ originally came to establish His kingdom;
2: However, the world was too wicked, thus He was crucified;
3: The church was established as a parenthesis till He comes again;
4: A rapture of the saints will occur at His coming;
5: Seven years of tribulation on earth will be caused by the Antichrist;
6: The battle of Armageddon will be the time Christ puts down all evil;
7: He will then establish His kingdom and reign for 1000 years;
8: Finally, there will be judgment which is followed by heaven and hell.

Three views of rapture
• What are the three main views on the Rapture and the Return of Christ?
• Timothy Paul Jones Ph.D., author and professor at Southern Baptist Theological
    Seminary.
• When will Jesus return? And when is the Rapture? People hear about the Rapture
on TV and radio. They wonder if it is the end of the world or if their unbelieving
family members are going to have more time to change their mind.
• As a professor and pastor, I am asked this a lot.
• Let me explain what you need to know.
• Christians who read the entire Bible and take it seriously have answered these
    questions in several different ways.
• In fact, over the past 2000 years Christian scholars have developed three possible
    time lines of end-times events.
• These theological explanations can be complex, but I've developed a simple
comparison chart to make the three views easy to understand. And I've included
the Bible passages used to support each one. It's very important for Christians to
understand the historical background of this topic

FALSE DOCTRINE

FALSE DOCTRINE
FALSE DOCTRINE
Is there going to be a “rapture”?
Is there going to be a “rapture”?
Is there going to be a “rapture”?

(1Th 4:16-17) For the Lord himself shall descend
from heaven with a shout, with the voice of
the archangel, and with the trump of God: and
the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we
which are alive and remain shall be caught up
together with them in the clouds, to meet the
Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with
  the Lord.
Is there going to be a “rapture”?

I: DOES 1 THESS. 4:16-17 SUPPORT THE
   RAPTURE THEORY? IF SO, THEN:
Is there going to be a “rapture”?

I: DOES 1 THESS. 4:16-17 SUPPORT THE RAPTURE THEORY? IF SO,
    THEN:
A: It is not silent!

1: Though 1 Thess. 4:17 uses the expression “caught up” (HARPAZO), it
talks about a time when the Lord shall come “with a shout, with the
voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God…” (v.16)

2: 1 Cor. 15:52: describes the second coming as “at the last trump: for
   the trump shall sound…”

3: 2 Pet. 3:10: “…with a great noise”
Is there going to be a “rapture”?

I: DOES 1 THESS. 4:16-17 SUPPORT THE RAPTURE
   THEORY? IF SO, THEN:
B: It is not secret!

1: 2 Thess. 1:7-9: He shall come “with his mighty
   angels, in flaming fire…”

2: Rev. 1:7: “He cometh with the clouds; and every
   eye shall see Him…”
Is there going to be a “rapture”?

I: DOES 1 THESS. 4:16-17 SUPPORT THE RAPTURE
   THEORY? IF SO, THEN:
C: It will not be only for seven years!

1: 1 Thess. 4:17: “so shall we ever be with the Lord”

2: John 6:39, 40, 44: The resurrection will occur at
the “last day.” cf. Heb. 1:1-3; 1 Cor. 15:23-26
Is there going to be a “rapture”?

I: DOES 1 THESS. 4:16-17 SUPPORT THE RAPTURE
   THEORY? IF SO, THEN:
D: There will not be two comings of Christ!

1: In order to get a “secret” coming, premillennialists
emphasize two Greek words: PAROUSIA, 1 Thess. 4:15
and EPIPHANIA, 1 Tim. 6:14, saying these are two
   different events.

2: However, 2 Thess. 2:8 uses both words to speak of the
same occasion as it describes “the brightness
   (EPIPHANIA) for His coming (PAROUSIA)
Is there going to be a “rapture”?

I: DOES 1 THESS. 4:16-17 SUPPORT THE RAPTURE THEORY? IF SO, THEN:
E: There will not be two (nor three) Resurrections!

1: This theory demands one at the rapture, another at the end of the tribulation, and
another at the end of the 1000 year reign.

2: John 5:28-29: describes both the wicked and righteous being raised at the same
    time.

3: 2 Thess. 1:7-9: blessing and punishment both occur at His coming.

4: Acts 24:14-15: judgment will be of the just and the unjust.

5: Matt. 25:31-32: the sheep and the goats will then be divided. All the nations will be
gathered. This is talking about all the people, it does not matter where you live, or
    who you are.

What will happen when christ comes again

  • 1. Why? 7: How many will come forth at the time of the resurrection? 8: By what will men be judged at the “last day?” 9: What will happen to the kingdom at the “end” 10: Who will be punished when He comes?

  • 3. Premillennialism I: WHAT IS THE BASIC THEORY OF PREMILLENNIALISM? A: The word itself means “Pre” (before); “Millennial” (1000 year reign). 1: Christ originally came to establish His kingdom; 2: However, the world was too wicked, thus He was crucified; 3: The church was established as a parenthesis till He comes again; 4: A rapture of the saints will occur at His coming; 5: Seven years of tribulation on earth will be caused by the Antichrist; 6: The battle of Armageddon will be the time Christ puts down all evil; 7: He will then establish His kingdom and reign for 1000 years; 8: Finally, there will be judgment which is followed by heaven and hell.

  • 6. Three views of rapture • What are the three main views on the Rapture and the Return of Christ? • Timothy Paul Jones Ph.D., author and professor at Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. • When will Jesus return? And when is the Rapture? People hear about the Rapture on TV and radio. They wonder if it is the end of the world or if their unbelieving family members are going to have more time to change their mind. • As a professor and pastor, I am asked this a lot. • Let me explain what you need to know. • Christians who read the entire Bible and take it seriously have answered these questions in several different ways. • In fact, over the past 2000 years Christian scholars have developed three possible time lines of end-times events. • These theological explanations can be complex, but I've developed a simple comparison chart to make the three views easy to understand. And I've included the Bible passages used to support each one. It's very important for Christians to understand the historical background of this topic

  1. What will happen when Christ comes again?Answer as may of these questions as you can. If you don’t know the answer leave it blank, give scriptures where you can, put into your own words what you have taught or told about this event.1: In what manner will Christ return? 2: Who will be with him when he comes? 3: What will men be saying when he comes? 4: What will happen to this world when He comes? 5: How soon would the signs of Matthew 24 be fulfilled? 6: For what were they to pray? Why? 7: How many will come forth at the time of the resurrection? 8: By what will men be judged at the “last day?” 9: What will happen to the kingdom at the “end” 10: Who will be punished when He comes?
  2. Few subjects have excited the kind of interest and speculative theories as the subject of the second coming of Christ. Men have seized upon a few texts out of context, and various theories have intrigued the imagination of men until now a maze of confusion now exists. While we may not be able clearly to visualize all that the Bible does say on the subject, we must guard against allowing our imagination to run away from the concise facts which are stated. Many fundamental truths which are simple but glorious are clearly taught which illuminate our understanding and comfort our hearts. No study of Premillinnalism would be complete with out looking at the one major point and that is the Rapture, the entire doctrine stand or falls on this one point, we talked about the basic tenets of this doctrine in lesson 1. Lets go back and review those:
  3. A: The word itself means “Pre” (before); “Millennial” (1000 year reign).1: This doctrine affirms we are now living in a period before the 1000 year reign of Christ. The basic claims of this theory are as follows:1: Christ originally came to establish His kingdom;2: However, the world was too wicked, thus He was crucified;3: The church was established as a parenthesis (or substitute) till He comes again;4: A rapture of the saints will occur at His coming;
  4. 5: Seven years of tribulation on earth will be caused by the Antichrist; Revelation is used to prove this, however the word Antichrist is not even found in the book of Revelation. It is found in 1&2 John: 1 John 2:18…many antichrists; 1 John 2:22…he is antichrist who denies the father and the son; 1 John 4:3…every spirit that does not confess ….is the spirit of the antichrist…which is coming…and is now already in the world. 2 John 1:7 …many deceivers have gone out in the world….who do not confess Jesus Christ…this is a deceiver and an antichrist. Antichrist is one who is against Christ. All that teach error are Antichrist!6:The battle of Armageddon will be the time Christ puts down all evil; This word is found 1 time in Revelation (Rev. 16:16), the way it is talked about one would think that it is all through the scriptures, this is about the fall of the Roman empire, we already studied this you should all remember what we studied. Do you still have your notes? (For anyone that does not understand this we will happy to sit down and study this with you in a personal study)7: He will then establish His kingdom and reign for 1000 years; If point 2: is true what would keep this from happening AGAIN. I find it insulting that it is taught that God, who could “speak” everything into existence was weaker than Satan, because that is what point 2: teaches. 8: Finally, there will be judgment which is followed by heaven and hell.
  5. 2: The fact there is so much disagreement among advocates of this theory is evidence in itself the Bible does not plainly deal with these topics. For example, some disagree as to when the rapture will occur, whether it will be post-mid-pre/tribulation. Others disagree about where Christ will return to reign, the Mormons say it will be in Independence, Mo., yet the majority say it will be Jerusalem. Most Premillennialists will agree that Islam is a false doctrine, BUT the Quran teaches the same basic doctrine in (Hadith 3:425 Jesus’ return; Hadith 1:18 the “signs” of Jesus’ return; Sura 19:33-34 how Jesus will live) The Premillennialist cannot see that their false doctrine will have the same consequence as those that follow Islam. But the outline on the screen is the basic tenets of all Premillennialists. Premillennialism is taught in most of the denominational churches. Because this subject is avoided by many in the Lord’s Church there are now members of the Lord’s Church that believe SOME of the teachings of this doctrine.
  6. What are the three main views on the Rapture and the Return of Christ?Timothy Paul Jones Ph.D., author and professor at Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. Has this to say:When will Jesus return? And when is the Rapture? People hear about the Rapture on TV and radio. They wonder if it is the end of the world or if their unbelieving family members are going to have more time to change their mind.As a professor and pastor, (I have been ask how can we recognize error by just hearing a few word, the first clue is “Pastor” let’s go to the tree) I am asked this a lot.
  7. Let me explain what you need to know. (The second clue is this “Let me explain” placing the importance on himself)Christians who read the entire Bible and take it seriously have answered these questions in several different ways. (third clue, several different ways, a nice way of saying that the scriptures can have many different “interpretations)In fact, over the past 2000 years Christian scholars have developed three possible time lines of end-times events. (fourth clue we cannot understand the bible the same)
  8. These theological explanations can be complex (especially when one twist’s the scriptures 2Pe 3:16 …. some things hard to understand, which untaught and unstable people twist to their own destruction, as they do also the rest of the Scriptures.), but I've developed a simple comparison chart to make the three views easy to understand. And I've included the Bible passages used to support each one. It's very important for Christians to understand the historical background of this topic. (The fifth clue is like the second one in just this short introduction we hear, I, me, and I’ve, Ph.D, professor and author, we are hearing the importance of self) (Rom 12:3 -….., to everyone who is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, …….) Here are four passages too meditate on in light of how to prepare to recognize error when you hear it and see it!
  9. 2Pe 1:20-21 NKJV - knowing this first, that no prophecy of Scripture is of any private interpretation, for prophecy never came by the will of man, but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit. Private interpretation carries the meaning of using your own knowledge..
  10. 1Cr 1:10 NKJV - Now I plead with you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you all speak the same thing, …… We can “speak” the same thing when we do this:
  11. 2Ti 2:15 NKJV - Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. Dividing carries the meaning of handling and or explainingIf we follow the instructions in 2 Pet. 1:20-21, 1 Cor. 1:10; and 2 Tim. 2:15 will avoid this.
  12. 2Ti 2:16 NKJV - But shun profane and idle babblings, for they will increase to more ungodliness. There are many more passage that speak of these things, as you study for yourself you will learn more and more of them, please make a note in your bible so that you know where to find these verses!
  13. Examine the chart and see how much error you can find. The problem with the chart is not that the passages are miss quoted, because they are direct quotes, but they have been “twisted” or misapplied. The author is guilty of 2 Pet. 1:20-21, 2 Tim. 2:16 and 2 Pet. 3:16; he has failed to do what 1 Cor. 1:10 tells us to do, and he has not done what 2 Tim. 2:15 tell us to do! can you see how this works? He said: Christians who read the entire Bible and take it seriously have answered these questions in several different ways. (can you now hear the error)In fact, over the past 2000 years Christian scholars have developed three possible time lines of end-times events.(did you hear the error) Let’s look at his chart and then do just what he said let’s look the entire bible,(can you hear 2 Tim. 2:15) maybe he should do the same. We have already determined in our previous studies that Israel will not be restored its land, that Christ now reigns in heaven, and that there will not be a literal 1000 year reign of Christ on earth, remember we also read that the Quran teaches this same basic doctrine. As we have learned in our previous studies, if a doctrine, or “church” is lacking in even on point it is a “plant of man.” Let’s ask a basic question:
  14. Everyone one of these are wrong, Christ cannot reign on an earthly throne, he cannot be a priest, we established these facts in the lesson entitled “Does Christ now reign, we used the scriptures to prove he cannot do either of these things because his genealogy does not allow this. It these views are wrong in even one point one must discard all of it, just as one would have to discard the scriptures if it is wrong in even one part. But let’s gather the evidence just as we did about Christ reigning on an earthly throne.Let’s start with a basic question:
  15. Is there going to be a rapture? It is one thing to just give an answer, it is quite another to take God’s word and see if it teaches what people claim that it does.
  16. 1: This lesson was almost titled, “What does the Bible say about the rapture?” However, if had been, then nothing else would follow. The word is not found in the Bible!2: However, the “rapture” is a vital link in premillennial thought. If the rapture is not supported by the scriptures, other suppositions involved are at least suspect or “a plant of man.” and “will be rooted up.” (Matt. 15:13)3: It is often referred to as though it is a clear Bible subject. “In case of rapture somebody grab the wheel.” “In case of rapture this car will be unmanned.” Such statements are often seen on car bumpers. What does it mean?4: Actually premillennialists use the word “rapture” to describe a secret catching away of the church, both resurrected and living saints, who are caught up to meet the Lord in the air. Some use term “translation” of the saints. They suggest that the doctrine is found in 1 Thess. 4:16-17
  17. (1Th 4:16-17) For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
  18. I: DOES 1 THESS. 4:16-17 SUPPORT THE RAPTURE THEORY? IF SO, THEN:
  19. A: It is not silent! 1: Though 1 Thess. 4:17 uses the expression “caught up” (HARPAZO), it talks about a time when the Lord shall come “with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God…” (v.16) 2: 1 Cor. 15:52: describes the second coming as “at the last trump: for the trump shall sound…” 3: 2 Pet. 3:10: “…with a great noise”
  20. B: It is not secret! 1: 2 Thess. 1:7-9: He shall come “with his mighty angels, in flaming fire…” 2: Rev. 1:7: “He cometh with the clouds; and every eye shall see Him…”
  21. C: It will not be only for seven years! 1: 1 Thess. 4:17: “so shall we ever be with the Lord” 2: John 6:39, 40, 44: The resurrection will occur at the “last day.”a: Heb. 1:1-3: We are now living in the “last days” (a contrast of our time with earlier dispensations, such as the Mosaic Period or during the time on the Old Law). But if there is yet to be a 1,000 year reign, should it be called “last-er days”? b: 1 Cor. 15:23-26: “…at His coming. Then cometh the end…”
  22.  D: There will not be two comings of Christ! 1: In order to get a “secret” coming, premillennialists emphasize two Greek words: PAROUSIA, 1 Thess. 4:15 and EPIPHANIA, 1 Tim. 6:14, saying these are two different events. 2: However, 2 Thess. 2:8 uses both words to speak of the same occasion as it describes “the brightness (EPIPHANIA) for His coming (PAROUSIA)
  23.  E: There will not be two (nor three) Resurrections! 1: This theory demands one at the rapture, another at the end of the tribulation, and another at the end of the 1000 year reign. 2: John 5:28-29: describes both the wicked and righteous being raised at the same time. 3: 2 Thess. 1:7-9: blessing and punishment both occur at His coming. 4: Acts 24:14-15: judgment will be of the just and the unjust. 5: Matt. 25:31-32: the sheep and the goats will then be divided. All the nations will be gathered. This is talking about all the people, it does not matter where you live, or who you are.CONCLUSION: The theory ofthe “rapture” has too many contradictions with plain and simple passages of the Bible. Not only must the rapture theory be rejected because it is unsupported by the Bible, but also the doctrine with which it is associated. The “rapture is therefore “a plant of man” The “rapture” is taught by many of the denominational churches, the Baptist churches are a very strong follower of this false doctrine.
  24. With all the talk about the Mayan calendar, and the world coming to an end in Dec. 2012 let’s examine what the scriptures tell us about this. The answers are really quite simple, there are many passages that we will be looking and some of them in a very different way than what you may have heard so pay attention and take notes.I: WILL CHRIST COME AGAIN?Many testified that he would return.
  25. I: WILL CHRIST COME AGAIN?1: The angels at His ascension said He would come in like manner as He had gone, Acts 1:10-11.
  26. I: WILL CHRIST COME AGAIN?2: Paul the apostle wrote of the assurance of His second coming:
  27. I: WILL CHRIST COME AGAIN?a: Heb. 9:27-28: “He shall appear a second time without sin unto salvation.b: 2 Thess. 1:7: He shall be “revealed from heaven with His mighty angels…”c: 1 Thess. 4:15-16: “…with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and the trump of God…”
  28. I: WILL CHRIST COME AGAIN?3: Peter declared
  29. I: WILL CHRIST COME AGAIN?that although some would scoff at the claim of His second coming, it would occur “as a thief in the night,” 2 Pet. 3:3-4, 9-10.
  30. I: WILL CHRIST COME AGAIN?4: John declared
  31. I: WILL CHRIST COME AGAIN?“when He shall appear, we shall be like him…” 1 John 3:2
  32. I: WILL CHRIST COME AGAIN?B: Jesus himself promised, “I will come again.”
  33. I: WILL CHRIST COME AGAIN?1: John 14:1-3: “…if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again..”2: The promise of the second coming of Christ in indisputable, and he who trusts in God looks forward to it.
  34. II: WHEN WILL HE COME?
  35. II: WHEN WILL HE COME?A: Matthew 24 reveals signs of an impending destruction.1: Passages from this chapter are often quoted and applied to the second coming of Christ. But to do so is to overlook the setting. Jesus was in the city of Jerusalem with His disciples, viewing the temple (see also Mark 13; Luke 21). Looking upon the massive stones of the mighty structure, Jesus amazed them with the declaration: “Not one stone shall be left upon another that shall not be thrown down.” Matt 24:2a: The disciples naturally thought that when such a great thing as that would happen, it would be the end of the world. So they asked, “When shall these things be? And what shall be the sign of thy coming?” (Matt 24:3). Is this about the second coming of Christ? Are there “Signs?” that tell us when he is going to return? However…..
  36. II: WHEN WILL HE COME?b: Jesus points out the signs of the impending destruction of the temple and the city of Jerusalem and the end of the Jewish state. How do we know this?Because: These are the signs: (Matt. 24)
  37. II: WHEN WILL HE COME?A: Matthew 24 reveals signs of an impending destruction.a: False teachers, v.5b: Wars, v.6c: Famines, v.7d: Earthquakes, v.7e: Persecution, v.9f: Apostasy, v.10g: Gospel preached to all the world, v.14 cf Col. 1:5-6 …..it is also in all the world, 23……was preached to every creature. Verse 23 speaks in the past tense was preach not it is going to be. The apostle Paul confirms that in his life time the gospel had been preached to the entire world, this presents a real problem for the Premillennlists, they teach that Christ cannot come UNTIL, the gospel has been preached to the whole world, they fail to understand what Matt. 25 is talking about.
  38. II: WHEN WILL HE COME?3: Why must these signs refer to the destruction of Jerusalem which occurred in 70 A.D.? And not to the return of Christ?
  39. II: WHEN WILL HE COME?a: “This generation shall not pass till all these things be fulfilled,” v.34. The people who heard these words have died long ago!
  40. II: WHEN WILL HE COME?b: “When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation…” v.15. This would be when Jerusalem was compassed with armies, Luke 21:20-22.This was prophesied by Daniel in: Dan.9:27; 11:31; 12:11.
  41. II: WHEN WILL HE COME?c: “Flee to mountains,” vv. 15-19. According to premillennialists, not saint will be left on the earth after the rapture, so why is this instruction given?
  42. II: WHEN WILL HE COME?d: “Pray that your flight be not in the winter, neither on the Sabbath day,” v.20. Why should this matter at the second coming of Christ?4: The disciples were able to recognize these signs, and historians affirm that not a single disciple of Christ perished in the destruction of Jerusalem, A.D. 70!
  43. II: WHEN WILL HE COME?B: Only God knows when He (Jesus) will come the second time.
  44. II: WHEN WILL HE COME?1: 1 Thess. 5:1-3: When men are saying, “Peace and safety…”
  45. II: WHEN WILL HE COME?2: The delay does not mean He is not coming, 2 Pet. 3:3-10.
  46. II: WHEN WILL HE COME?2: The delay does not mean He is not coming, 2 Pet. 3:3-10.a: Scoffers will come questioning, vv. 3-4
  47. II: WHEN WILL HE COME?b: They are willingly ignorant (they were this way because the choose to be ) of the flood. By the same word, God has promised the destruction of the world by fire, vv. 5-7
  48. II: WHEN WILL HE COME?c: God, however, does not reckon time like man does, vv. 8-9
  49. II: WHEN WILL HE COME?d: But being true to His promise, He will come as a thief in the night when men are not expecting him, v.10.
  50. II: WHEN WILL HE COME?3. Therefore we ought to be faithful, 2 Pet. 3:11-14.
  51. III: HOW WILL HE COME? IN WHAT MANNER?
  52. III: HOW WILL HE COME? IN WHAT MANNER?A: Visible to all.1: He will come in the manner He departed, Acts 1:10-11
  53. III: HOW WILL HE COME? IN WHAT MANNER?A: Visible to all.2: Every eye shall see Him, Rev. 1:7
  54. III: HOW WILL HE COME? IN WHAT MANNER?B: Suddenly, 1 Thess. 5:1-3
  55. III: HOW WILL HE COME? IN WHAT MANNER?C: With His angels, 2 Thess. 1:7; Matt. 25:31
  56. III: HOW WILL HE COME? IN WHAT MANNER?D: With a shout, voice of the archangel, trump, 1 Thess. 4:16-17; 1 Cor. 15:52
  57. IV: WHAT WILL HAPPEN WHEN HE COMES
  58. A: The end, 1Cor. 15:23-26
  59. 1: The end of probation, 2 Pet. 3:9 The idea here is the Lord has made a promise to come, while there is a waiting period, or probation ,he is coming and does not want anyone to perish, but each one of us must come to repentance.
  60. 2: The end of the world, 2 Pet. 3:7-10
  61. 3: The end of time (“the last day”), John 6:39-40, 44a: This not the beginning of 365,000 more days! A millennial kingdom does not begin at this time, but rather the end of the kingdom on earth is come.b: Christ’s reign ends at the resurrection. Death is destroyed, but this cannot be so as long as a segment of mankind is still entombed, or remains in the grave.
  62. B: The resurrection
  63. 1: “All that are in the graves shall hear his voice, and shall come forth…” John 5:28-29
  64. 2: “The dead in Christ shall rise first” (1 Thess. 4:16), and the living shall be changed (1 Cor. 15:50-55)
  65. C: Judgment takes place “at the last day,” John 12:48
  66. 1: Acts 17:30-31: It will be righteous judgment by Christ.
  67. 2: Matt. 25:31-46: The sheep will separated from the goats. Much like during the days of the Old Testament the Shepherds would gather their flock and weed out all the undesirable, or weak and sick sheep's, and the goats, on judgment day God will weed out all the “Goats.” Among those that will be weeded out will be those that “call” themselves Christians, who in fact are not, this will include those that are mature enough to understand what being a disciple is and refuse to become one, all that have been baptized for anything other than the remission of their sins, those that have been baptized by any other means other than immersion in water, those that have said a sinners prayer and then were baptized to “join” a church, any that think belief is all that is required. Those that have fallen away, or chosen not to remain faithful, this will also include all false teachers, and preachers.
  68. D: The kingdom will be delivered to the Father, 1 Cor. 15:241: Instead of the establishment of His kingdom on earth, when Christ comes again the “end” will occur, and this spiritual kingdom will be received by the Father to be rewarded with its spiritual destiny, heaven.2: 1 Pet. 1:3-5: Like Peter, our living hope should be of an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled that fades not away, reserved in heaven…”
  69. E: The wicked are punished.1: 1 Thess. 1:7-9: Those who know not God and obey not the gospel shall be punished with “everlasting destruction.”2: Matt. 25:41, 46: “…into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels.”
  70. In Matthew 24:36-44Mat 24:36 - "But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, but My Father only. Mat 24:37 - "But as the days of Noah were, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be. Mat 24:38 - "For as in the days before the flood, they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, Mat 24:39 - "and did not know until the flood came and took them all away, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be. Mat 24:40 - "Then two men will be in the field: one will be taken and the other left. Mat 24:41 - "Two women will be grinding at the mill: one will be taken and the other left. Mat 24:42 - "Watch therefore, for you do not know what hour your Lord is coming. Mat 24:43 - "But know this, that if the master of the house had known what hour the thief would come, he would have watched and not allowed his house to be broken into. Mat 24:44 - "Therefore you also be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect. Many point too these passages as a way to prove the rapture, Jesus is still talking about the destruction of Jerusalem in A.D. 70, the suddenness that it will come with. Let’s examine these passage and see how they would apply to us today.
  71. 2: vs.36—At this point many scholars believe that Jesus turns to speak of the final judgment day, they interpret “that day” to be referring to the time “heaven and earth shall pass away” as described in verse 35. However, the parallel text in (Luke 17:26-37) combines (Matt. 24:27-41) as the time of Jerusalem’s destruction – a time they shall hasten to leave (Luke 17:31)A: The disciples to whom Jesus was speaking thought of the three events (i.e. the destruction of the temple, the coming of Christ, and the end of the age) as one event. These disciples understood what so many today do not. Nothing in the text indicates they were looking beyond the Messianic age (Also compare Luke 21:20-37)
  72. 3: vs.37—Although Jesus was speaking in context about Jerusalem, the scenario and parables that follow can apply to any and all times when God brings judgment upon a nation or city. In every case He has uniformly brought judgment when the iniquity was “full,” e.g. Canaan, Gen. 15:16; Sodom, Gen. 18:23-33; The Roman Empire, Rev. 16:5-9. Though Jesus here applies, Jerusalem’s rejection of God as comparable to that of Noah’s day (Gen. 6:5), the second coming (return) of Christ to sit in judgment will be at a time when conditions are also comparable to Noah’s day, (1 Thess. 5:1-3)4: vs.38-39—Contemporaries of Noah were living as though life on earth would continue endlessly, thus their major concern was eating, drinking, marrying and giving in marriage. Though warned by the preaching of Noah (Heb. 11:7; 1 Pet. 3:20-21; 2 Pet. 2:5), the warnings from God were ignored. (Just as people are doing this now)(rt)
  73. These are two passages that are used to prove the rapture, however we have already proven the rapture is a false doctrine. Therefore Jesus has to be talking about something else. All of these passages Matt. 24 have to do with the destruction of Jerusalem. The misapplication of these two verses come when you take passages and interpret them out of context. 5: vs.40-41 Are two examples of preparedness, or lack there-of, are illustrated. Two people may work side by side in ordinary activities of life, but one is taken (saved) by reason of being watchful and obedient to God whereas the other is left (lost) due to the disregard of God’s invitation. And as history bears out not one Christian died during the destruction of Jerusalem, they were prepared, everyone else died. It did not matter if they were Jews by birth they still died.Salvation and damnation are the things that we see in these two verses!
  74. 1: vs.42—Procrastination is a common tendency of mankind. Had Jesus revealed the exact day and hour of God’s judgment, no doubt some would wait until the last minute to prepare. The Lord’s desires man’s expression of sincere love and devotion by living in readiness.2: vs.43—Thieves never advertise when they plan to burglarize a house. If the resident of a house knew exactly when a burglar was coming he would be prepared so as not to suffer loss.3: vs.44—All the parables that follow serve as a general warning of preparedness, leading up to and including His final judgment, (Matt. 25:31,36.) There are striking similarities in the attitudes of people at every time a “day of the Lord” is promised in the Bible. Thus, the destruction of Jerusalem as well as the coming of Christ in final judgment will be without warning and as unexpected as that of a thief. Therefore those who fear the Lord should always be ready, (1 Thess. 5:1-3; 2 Pet. 3:9-10; Rev. 3:3.)The word watch is not talking about looking for some “sign” of his coming, but it means the “stand” watch just as a soldier does, being ready, being prepared. Therefore what we need to do is
  75. That is the lesson that we learn here in Matt. 26:36-42
  76. Answer the questions:1: In what manner will Christ return? (Acts 1:10-11)Christ will return in the same way he left, suddenly and with a cloud2: Who will be with him when he comes? (2 Thess. 1:7; Matt. 25:31)The mighty and holy angel’s3: What will men be saying when he comes? (1 Thess. 5:1-3)Men will be saying peace and safety, then just as labor pains come the destruction of the earth will come4: What will happen to this world when He comes? (2 Pet. 3:10)The heavens will pass away with a great noise, the elements will melt with a great heat the earth and all the works in it will be burned up5: How soon would the signs of Matthew 24 be fulfilled? (Matt. 24:34)During the life time of some that were alive that heard Christ speak of the events in Matt 24, These passages in Matt 24; Luke 13 and Mark 13 is NOT about the second coming of Christ, Jesus was talking about the destruction of the temple in 70 A.D.
  77. 6: For what were they to pray? Why? (Matt. 24:20)That their flight not be in winter, or on the Sabbath. Why? Travel in the winter would difficult with small children and pregnant women, if it was on the Sabbath the distance would keep them from escaping, if this passage was talking about the second coming then there would no need for this prayer. 7: How many will come forth at the time of the resurrection? (John 5:28-29)All that hear the voice of God8: By what will men be judged at the “last day?” (John 12:48)By the word that Jesus has spoke, the Gospel, this is why it is so necessary that we preach, teach and speak all the gospel. 9: What will happen to the kingdom at the “end” (1 Cor. 15:23-24)Christ will deliver the Kingdom of God back to the Father.10: Who will be punished when He comes? (2 Thess. 1:7-9)To all that do know God, and the ones that have not obeyed the Gospel.
  78. II: TRUE OR FALSE____1: We shall be changed at the coming of Christ. (1 Cor. 15:50-55)TRUE: Flesh and blood cannot inherit the Kingdom of God, whatever we will be like we will never die, v.55, tells us that death will be swallowed up, death is defeated.____2: We shall be like him when he comes. (1 John 3:2)TRUE: This passage plainly tells us that it has not been revealed what we will be after we have been changed, too much time has been spent “teaching” what we will be like, WE ARE NOT TOLD! Remember this.
  79. ____3: The abomination of desolation would be when Jerusalem was compassed with armies (Luke 21:20-22)TRUE: Jesus said that was going to happen, this is the destruction of Jerusalem in 70 A.D. Let’s look at the Luke 21:24 the last part of 24: “Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled.” The desolation of Jerusalem would continue as long as God saw fit. The destruction of Jerusalem was in fulfillment of prophecy; therefore it was not merely because Rome, by its own strength, was able to destroy it. Rome was but the “rod of God’s anger” like Assyria had been in earlier day (Isa. 10:5-19). Even as Jesus referred to Daniel’s prophecy, “the time of the Gentiles” refers to God’s use of this Roman Empire to fulfill His purpose. Daniel not only prophesied that Rome would make Jerusalem “desolate,” but he declared that desolation “is poured out on the one who makes desolate” (Dan. 9:27, NASV). “The times of the Gentiles” was fulfilled when God finished using this wicked empire, and then God destroyed Rome. The book of Revelation reveals how God promised to bring down the Roman Empire that was empowered by Satan.
  80. ____4: We shall be given signs to know when He is coming. (2 Pet. 3:9-10)FALSE: We have the promise of His return v.9; He will comes a thief, we will not when He is coming v.10.
  81. ____5: We look for new heavens and earth rather than a 1000 year reign. (2 Pet. 3:11-14)TRUE: v.13 plainly tell us there will be new heavens and a new earth; v.14 we must be diligent to be found by Him in peace, without spot, and be blameless. CONCLUSION:The Bible teaches that Jesus will come at the end of the last days and not at the beginning. His coming will be characterized by many events, all of which will be LAST events in the history of this world, for they occur on “the last day”! A thorough study of the events of His second coming leaves no room for a 1000 year reign. There is no warning of His coming by predictions of world events or tribulations that will precede the event of His coming. His coming will be sudden, unexpected, and without warning whatsoever. WILL YOU BE READY?
  82. What about the Mayan calendar? There are no signs or ways of predicting his return it will be like a thief in in the night (this is not found in Matt. 24:27-41 ; Luke 17:26-37 remember these passages are about the destruction of Jerusalem the correct passages to use are 1 Thess. 5:1-3; 2 Pet. 3:3) , therefore how could a calendar made by man predict that which is only -known by God, while we are looking at this we also need to look at a few verses that shows that the so called “near” death events where people claim to have seen heaven are in direct conflict of what the scriptures tell us, these verses also show that the books written by people that claim to have seen heaven are not only wrong but are a contradiction of the scriptures, they may be sincere but they are sincerely wrong. John 3:13 - "No one has ascended to heaven but He who came down from heaven, that is, the Son of Man who is in heaven. Here we have it no one, that is no body has gone to heaven by Jesus, when we talk about our loved ones are already in heaven with Jesus we need to keep this verse in mind, where do the dead go, we are not told but to say the saved are in heaven, as in physically in heaven with Christ does not happen till The Last Day. For those to have claimed to have “been” to heaven and then returned they are claiming to be the same as Christ.
  83. 2Cr 12:1-4 - It is doubtless not profitable for me to boast. I will come to visions and revelations of the Lord: 2Cr 12:2 - I know a man in Christ who fourteen years ago--whether in the body I do not know, or whether out of the body I do not know, God knows--such a one was caught up to the third heaven.2Cr 12:3 - And I know such a man--whether in the body or out of the body I do not know, God knows--2Cr 12:4 - how he was caught up into Paradise and heard inexpressible words, which it is not lawful for a man to utter.Paul has a vision, he said it is not profitable (he has nothing to gain) by boasting, if this is true then what right do these people have to gain financially by selling their story? Paul tells us about this vision in third person he does this to avoid anyone saying he is boasting, this vision is not the same one the Paul had in Acts 22:17-21, the vision under examination most likely occurred during A.D. 42-43 during what is referred to as the silent ministry of Paul, very little is know about what Paul did during this time. The reference to 14 years makes it clear that this vision is not the same as the one in Acts 22:17-21. Paul really did not fully understand what happened, but he affirms that God knows. Paul refers to Paradise the Greek word for paradise, carriers the meaning of garden, or park and to the garden of Eden, it also refers to the abode of those that died in Christ and all the faithful that died under the old law. Paul tells us that he “heard words” that he could speak.
  84. It is more than the “words” we must understand that the language used here is about the “vision” and what “saw” Paul heard he was allowed to tell what us about it.Anyone that claims they have been to “Heaven” is mistaken, or they are lying and or boasting. They are doing just what Paul said NOT to do. Do not believe these stories that you hear not matter how touching they are.
