… INFOLIT PACKAGES, not technology, are a librarian’s best wares.
1. Being Chief of a Library Organization… (7th
Part of A Second Series)
Chewable Quote For the Month of July, 2013
By Mr. Roderick Baturi Ramos, Doing it For Others
The Brand (Librarian) You’ve Always Trusted
… INFOLIT PACKAGES, not technology, are a librarian’s best wares.
INFOLIT is beyond a librarian’s advocacy but his second skin unlike a bully chief who
fault-finds and only thinks of earning more financially through INFOLIT and other programs
while in the circle where she heads and network she uses for more wealth and power.

When your intention is authentically to bridge and set faculty and library
collaboration, INFOLIT modules make it winsome. Sell them like how one distributes cotton
candies and coffee-blended blouses to kids at a park and young mothers during spree
shopping, respectively. They’re tasteful to both while in front of a librarian’s suddenly turned-
red cheek and the forehead because of delighted library guests. Teach or serve them in
platter or in combos and have them choose from IL 1 to 10 or A to D options depending on
what one currently needs. Buffet-like or plated? Discounted price or with points? The
librarian, being an information specialist, knows how to process, is alert with an expertise and
have mastered a craft in translating onlookers to loyal library patrons through his best wares.
For instances: a rover-librarian with an IPAD to a faculty who doesn’t know about CIPPA
and making her aware and identify at least ten (10) rarely known and valuable Filipiniana
periodicals is fantastically insightful. Offering NORA, Eliza and Librando as online friends to
trust, while the time and chat for academic pursuits is scholarly and liberating. Recommending
legitimate KATHNIEL websites to a die-hard fan is more fun, engaging and wholesome
experience. Forming a batch towards copyright consciousness sends library personnel closer
to HEAD, HEART and HAND (Dewey) of every reader or researcher.
But, how many licensed, professional librarians have not, not at all,
and produced portfolios without INFOLIT materials only spread the
deviation and not achieving faculty-library collaboration.
Many have yet to realize the “fiesta” it may bring in colleges and universities,
schools, special and public libraries and the huge advantage of creating, developing and
generating more folders of IL to one’s career or to either outside or in library workplaces and
spaces. While a few or a trickle opts to self-impose and does countless with sleepless nights
like that of a public schoolteacher writing lesson plans all hours of the day, there they discover
a secret ingredient only them and their personal journals can tell and prove Francis Bacon’s
“Reading maketh a full man; conference a ready man; and writing an exact man.”
Again, the librarian, being an information specialist, knows how to process,
is alert with an expertise and have mastered a craft in translating onlookers to loyal
library patrons through his best wares – INFOLIT and is high impact.
